  1. Hello, my fiance will be doing her CFO on 4/07. I'm considering going ahead and reserving a flight for 4/21 due to a really good rate that won't stay like that for long. She has all her documents and then some for the CFO :-) Any suggestions or advice welcomed! Thanks in advance!

  2. You can wait as long as you can until it will be delivered smile.png ..

If you have checked the status of ur visa at ceac website and u are not put on AP, it should not take long. But there are cases that even if the case was not put on AP, still it took them few weeks to have their visa...

You should check the status of it at ceac website and perhaps call the Embassy to get answers.

And no, you Don't have to pay for the mailing of the visa,,

Our interview was March 11, 2014 and still waiting. Same k1/k2 the next day after interview the K2 says AP. So what does that admin processing mean? How long does that generally take? They still have her passport to and did not require any further proof at interview.

    Thanks!

  3. What do you think is she approved or not? She went to the interview K1/K2. She answered all questions no problems there. When the consul finished he told her to go to the last window and wait there. So she went there and the person told her she can go home now (Mindinao). She asked him if approved he said "Ma'am you can go home wait for your passport to deliver there". So they did not give it back to her at the end of interview and they did not ever say anything about needing more proof. But when she got back to hotel she contacted me crying because she feels she didn't get approved because they don't tell her. I personally think she is approved since they kept the passport. But some of you in no alot more about this than us so please tell me what you think. Oh, the person in the window told her she could check her status tomorrow on the website, but I think that is backlogged. Also, if approved how long will it take her to get the visa living as far away from Manila as she does? Thanks!

  4. I'm worried that some of the original documents that I mailed to my fiancee may not get to her in time for the Interview. I mailed them on 2/18 and her interview is 3/11. Due to my work and pressing time constraints I mailed them to an address in Manila by the US Postal Service. So we're preparing as if they don't come just in case that happens. So my question is to all here is there any document that just absolutely has to be the "ORIGINAL" or they don't let you go thru the process? She does have the original DS 160 . Can the interview appt. letter be a photo copy? I have copies of everything since the start of the petition. So what I'm planning to do is scan to her the copies of the one or two she may not have yet. I read online at the Embassy website what it says I should have but I just want to make sure of any additional documents.

Thanks so much for your assistance!!!

  5. Oh the old one way ticket thing..I just sent my fiancee the money and she bought it there. This an age old dilemma, that many have encountered. Some have worked around it by buying the ticket here, then sending the credit card photocopy or something like that. For me jsut sending here the money was easiest. .

This lady got us a one way from Cebu to Atl. Cheap!

know it sounds crazy that it is Virginia Beach travel and it's in Manila, but this lady really hooked us up and saved us 100's..

Hey thanks, I will make a note of that info. Thanks again!

  6. This might be a case where a good travel agent may be able to help. The PI law is to prevent fraudulent use of a CC to purchase airline travel. Maybe a travel agent can over come that because you are sitting in front of them. Have you tried to purchase a RT or is it due to the fact that the origin of the flight is in the PI so you must purchase it from the PI. You could also try calling Korean Airlines and see if they can help you overcome this problem. Air Astana in Kazakhstan has similar precautions for airline ticket purchases. One is to call your credit card company and get an authorization code that you give to the airlines or you just show the CC upon check in.

    Good luck,

    Dave

Hey Dave, Yes it is because the origin is in the phil. I can do the same thing with Delta and I dont get that message. But you do also get a message about credit card verification from Korean Air. And I'm not using a CC, I'm using a visa debit card. Yes , you right I may have to get a travel agency to assist me. I have booked the round trip flight from ATL to Manila or Cebu several times. That has never been a problem. The difference between the round trip and one way is almost $600.00 x 2 due to K2. Oh, and the reason i just haven't seletcted Delta yet is because they have a layover in Japan which is not a problem but then changing planes in Detroit. I'm not familiar with the Detroit airport but any airport where she will have to transfer from international terminal to domestic is a bit of concern. Yes, Atlanta's new international terminal is great!

    Thanks Dave for your help!

  7. The Korean Air Flight into ATL from Manila has a long enough layover in Seoul it should be no problem. Also the layover in Seoul from Cebu is usally about 3:45

Also the international Terminal in ATL is new and so much easier than the ol international concourse.. No double checking bags, no tram ride etc.

I have flown the Seoul into Atl leg several times and will be again around may 10th.

As for your hostess question, it should be no problem, but I am not sure if they have one.

The only connecting flight she should have should be either Seoul or Narita depending on Airline. Several majors connect there and have straight shots into ATL and are usually cheaper than going thru other cities in the US.

I agree with you about Korean Air. I myself have flown those same flights from Atlanta to Cebu and Manila. Unfortunately, when you try to book from the USA a one way flight from Manila to Atlanta with Korean Air you get a pop up message about Philippine law only allowing that booking within the Phil.

Maybe I can find another carrier with similar layover llike Korean Air who will then fly direct into ATL. Because as you said the new international terminal there is great and customs is fast and easy to for someone flying their first time.

    Thanks again for your help!

  8. My fiance's interview is March 11th assuming all goes well with medical starting tomorrow. And then of course would be the CFO. She would like for me to come to the Phil and fly back with her and our son (3yrs). She is worried she will miss the connecting flight to Atlanta, GA. If I'm not able to fly there I've considered meeting her at any POE and some other scenarios. I know with some airlines you can request a ground host/ess to assist but I'm not sure how reliable that would be. Oh, and she will be flying domestically from Pagadian City to Manila. Any suggestions?

    Thanks in Advance!

  9. Thanks! I'm not sure if I explained things well in my first posting because I was a little confused with the info I was getting. To be more precise, some other pinays had told her that the embassy confirmation page she needs at the embassy should not show email addresses it should be just the copy of confirmation with bar code. I don't think it matters as long as they can see the letter and the original bar code for both the K1 and K2? I did try to print that several times from yahoo, gmail and AOL but I could never get it to print without the emails listed at the top. Even when I right clicked inside the confirmation and told it to print. Normally something like that will work but for whatever reason not this time. Hope she will be okay with it like it is now.

    Thanks in Advance!

  10. I'm confused so seeking advice. On the instruction sheet for form I-131 Affadavit of Support it says that evidence of support should consist of duplicate copies of some info they ask for from your bank and employer. I have all that in addition to Income Tax Returns/Transcripts from IRS. So does the employment letter or any of it have to be original? Thanks

  11. I had slight pneumonia back in 2009 and was prescribed to take antibiotics. I was subjected to xray and the doctor saw little "dots" on my right lung.

That's the reason I did advance medical at SLEC because I was afraid something might show up on my chest xray. Thank God everything went fine. I didn't bother having a prior xray from another hospital/clinic because it's the xray that SLEC conducts that matter.

Anyway, 3rd party xrays are often times disregarded by SLEC.

I know someone who had an xray from a lab prior to the medical and results were "clear" but when he went to SLEC his xray was "suspicious" so he was subjected to do sputum. He never had any medical history or any issue concerning his lungs. He doesn't smoke too.

    It's a 50-50 chance basically.

Well, she has a statement of diangnosis mild basil pneumonia and a copy of the xray from the doctor and he says she will be fine at the review. So I dont know its worth a try.

  12. The thing with SLEC X-ray equipment is that it has a very high resolution since it is at par with US CDC standards, as compared to old X-ray machines in other hospitals in Philippines. Meaning there's a higher probability of lung spot/s to be visible, that would otherwise appear invisible in other X-ray tests. IMO, it might be a good idea to have the medical sooner than later. I also had my medical one month before my interview, and this is also actually quite common for visa applicants with respiratory concerns. Good luck! smile.png

Well she is sharing the hotel room with another pinay who is also doing k1/k2. Also, airlines are already paid for.

  13. My fiance and I decided we would have her do a xray with family doctor to see if anything show up. She was diagnosed with mild basil pneumonia. She told the doctor she is scheduled for medical in about a month. He told her this will not require a sputum test because this is not TB. So I'm thankful we decided to do that visit. I guess my question is has anyone experienced anything like this or know of a situation like ours? I think I did read once that if a person has certain illnesses u will still be able issued visa but need to be treated as well.

    Thanks in Advance!!

  14. Can anyone tell me if SLMEC is open for testing Mon thru Friday? Or, do they do results only on Thur/Fri? My fiance is scheduled to arrive in Manila on Monday Feb 24. She is pre-registered k1/k2 and would go to the center at 1pm to get things started and then back early next morning and so on. But if either of the above is true then maybe due to K2 we need to reschedule her flight from Mindinao to arrive on Sunday evening if it is still possible. Hope we can leave it as is I wait your replies. Thanks in advance!

  15. We do have a receipt for a ring but we did not pay much for that ring. She didn't want to wait for my arrival to excited to wear the ring so I let her by it a few months in advance. Also, we did include from each of us in our petition a signed "Intent to Marry" statement. And we planned to update that along with chat logs, phone bill....

Just for the record, we met online 8/15/2012 our personal meeting was 3/2013.

  16. Hello,

My fiance has her K1/k2 visa interview March 11th. I hear so many other couples say as examples of proof that they do intend to marry once the fiance is in the petitioners country they provide a reciept of a planned reception, church wedding, guest invitation list..... Due to my being married a few times in the past we plan to be married at the local courthouse by the probate judge. So my question to those on this forum is do you have any ideas on what she could say or present at the interview to support the fact that we do intend to marry?

    Thanks in advance!

    Jerry

  17. My fiance lives far from Manila so we need to book airline flight for medical and interview. We plan to do the medical 2 wk prior to the interview. Also this will be a K1/K2 . The interview is same time for both. I heard someone medical takes longer with K2. So my question is how many days should we allow for each of these? Because airline will be non refundable. Thanks!

  18. Yes, thanks for the info. I'm sure they will be happy to give me a company letter. I won't have many pay stubs by then but I'll give what I have. I also have the last 3 years of IRS transcripts of my tax returns.

  19. We only need to follow up on a couple of things we plan to do after Christmas. As far as support documents I was trying to hold off until after New Year due to starting new job making substantially more than where I am now. Both jobs are well within the requirements but I dont want to prepare them with present employer because I will not be there when she goes to interview...Speaking of all that, do you think changing jobs will be an issue?
