Hi all, wondering if someone might know the answer to this: I filed N400 last August when I became eligible. I never received my GC and learned after several case inquiries that they are going to adjudicate both together. The wait time in Atlanta is over a year so I won't be getting either any time soon. I need to travel to see my family in the next couple of months and was wondering if the I-551 stamp needs to have certain validity to re-enter the U.S.? For example, your passport can't expire within 6 months etc. in some instances. Is there a similar rule for the stamp?

After an info-pass appointment where I was told filing for N-400 would not delay my I-751, but would get me into the long line for N-400. Seems that was incorrect information. Guess I'll have to get another extension stamp in my passport in the spring. At least I can stop thinking I'll hear any day now. I might be the last one closing out this thread next summer/fall. Exact same situation here. From what I've heard, N400 processing time in Atlanta is one of the longest in the country...here we go again...

So not helpful at all. I will wait the necessary 30 days and submit another Service Request. In the meantime I am trying to arrange an InfoPass appointment, but haven't been lucky enough to schedule one. Every time I check there are no appointments available. I know I need to be checking around midnight, so I will just keep trying.

 

 

I had the same issue so I called. The first rep agreed that the timeframe was odd and put me through to a tier 2 (after a 144 minute wait...). The tier 2 said the same as your email but she did tell me to call back in 10 days and ask for a tier 2.

I have my email alerts switched on, is that what you're referring to or is there something specific to service requests?

I called USCIS and was diverted to a tier 2 - just waiting on my call back. Fingers crossed this triggers something. 

This is incredibly frustrating. Today is my service request deadline and I haven't heard a thing.

It doesn't update for your biometrics letter.

My ROC is still pending too and I just filed N-400 on Monday. May as well get ourselves in line. Worst that can happen is they approve concurrently and that's no big deal. An attorney recommended going ahead and filing.

When submitting leases as evidence, do you all just submit the pages with the relevant information and signatures or do you submit a copy of the full document?

It just seems like an unnecessary waste of paper/ink to copy the full thing.

Hi everyone, 

I got my stamp today so I could renew my DL but I did run into an issue and was curious if anyone else had the same problem? The representative mentioned that in their system I am listed under my maiden name and she couldn't do anything about it because I didn't have a marriage certificate with me. I don't understand how this is the case as I filled out everything correctly on the AOS paperwork, my GC was issued in my married name, and all correspondence from USCIS comes in my married name. 

So weird!

I'm curious to know the answer to this too. We moved from CA to GA and when I changed my license they put the expiration as a year from the date on the receipt notice, which is next month. No matter how much I argued, they wouldn't recognize that it extended the GC expiration by a year.

About two years ago I set up a Roth IRA with my bank. Then last year as I was preparing the evidence for my I-751 application I realized that the bank representative had listed me as a US citizen on the paperwork. I had no idea that he did this and was surprised as he is well aware of my immigration status (I’ve known him for some time). I submitted the paperwork with the I-751 as it listed my husband as a beneficiary and also included a note about how I had no idea the banker did this and I attached a receipt from the bank showing how I immediately went in to have it changed. 

Now I am starting to prepare my N400 application and I noticed the question: 1. Have you EVER claimed to be a U.S. citizen (in writing or any other way)? 
 

I am concerned about how to answer this. I have genuinely NEVER done this but I am concerned about how USCIS will react to the fact that it took me a year to notice it on the paperwork. Is this something to worry about?

When I went to my biometrics appointment they had me fill in an information sheet (I presume to make everything run quicker). I listed the WAC number on both my initial receipt and biometrics letter. However, there was a second WAC on the biometrics letter which I didn't put down (don't even know what I was thinking, figured it would be best to go with the number that's on everything).

Now when I track on the USCIS website it says the following: On June 29, 2016, we received your Form CRI-89, Petition to Remove Conditions of Permanent Resident Status Received, Receipt Number WACxxxxxxx, and sent you the receipt notice that describes how we will process your case. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your receipt notice by July 29, 2016, please call Customer Service at 1-800-375-5283. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

Is that normal given that I've completed my biometrics? Does anyone else see something similar?

It's okay if you don't have the cars in joint names. No need to include the car-related documents. As for the credit cards, have you considered adding each other as authorized users, especially if his credit is looking better now? Still, though adding the credit cards now might be too late.

You got joint checking and savings account, that's good. One thing missing is tax transcripts. Do you have the last 2-3 tax transcripts as MFJ or MFS? The rest of the list also looks good. I wouldn't worry too much. Just make sure that for whatever you have, include the entire period from the inception of your marriage to the time of filing. Good luck!

Hi everyone,

We are starting to compile all the necessary paperwork for my removal of conditions. We seem to have everything they suggest except there are a few things raising a red flag for us.

1. My husband is in the military and because he has an out-of-state diver license and the registration is cheaper in his home state, both cars are in his name to take advantage of this.

2. We make payments on one of our cars and the loan is in my husband's name only.

3. We don't have any joint credit cards. He has two from before my arrival (and we didn't want him to get more because he was working hard to improve his credit). I have one with a very low limit from when I first arrived and another third party one for travel rewards. But as I said, none are "joint".

In terms of everything else, we seem to check all the boxes. We have joint checking and savings accounts, joint leases, each others' insurance beneficiaries, joint insurance, tons of correspondence, photos, affidavits, joint club memberships, travel itineraries, utility bills...

How worried should I be?

Hi everyone, I'm delighted to say that my GC was approved at my interview yesterday. I just wanted to pass on some advice that might be useful for those of you still waiting. When we were waiting to be called in, my husband noticed that the immigration officer - who subsequently interviewed us - had been observing us through the check-in window for several minutes before he called us in. At this point he seemed to have made up his mind before we even sat down and we probably weren't even in there for 5 minutes.

Something he mentioned that I thought was really helpful was that in anticipation of applying for my 10 year green card in 2016, we should print out all our photos and utilities etc. every three months so that by the time we apply we have a pile of evidence that thoroughly covers the last two years.

I get mail there almost every day. I got the number for the carrier supervisor, just waiting on them to open.

After months of waiting for my EAD and the Navy finally signing off on my husband's leave we left for vacation and got a notification that my EAD was on its way on all the same day.

The following day I get an email to say that it was "undeliverable" and has been returned to USCIS. HOW THE HELL DID THIS HAPPEN???

All my immigration stuff has arrived just fine in the past AND my name is o our mail box...so what on earth is usps doing?

I waited over three weeks before getting anything and I was a nervous wreck too. Don't worry,you'll hear something my text came at 10pm one night when I was walking the aisles of Walmart!

The following line does say something about not getting a police cert for time spent in the US...mine did anyway.

Of course if you have a conviction in the US of any sort you'll need proof and details of that.
