As stated before, if you are a legal DR resident for at least 6 months, you can file your petition directly at the US Embassy in Santo Domingo. The process is known here at DCF (Direct Consular Filing). You can find more info here: https://www.uscis.gov/about-us/find-uscis-office/international-offices/dominican-republic-uscis-santo-domingo-field-office

If I'm not mistaken, I believe in DR you now schedule the interview yourself via ustraveldocs. Have you tried creating an account on there? I would suggest going through the posts on the DR portal for instructions relevant to the DR processes, since every consulate is slightly different.

I think at this point I would go ahead and call NVC like stated before me and then go ahead and schedule your interview. something is wrong.
-
When we had our interview a few weeks ago, they told us 2 weeks, and it took 2 weeks and a day to get the passport. however, we know of someone that went the same day as us, and he received his documents back much sooner. there's no guarantee. I think they do further processing/research after the interview even when the visa is approved.
I think I've seen here that it all depends with the k-1 visa holders if they can go with their families through the citizen line. are New York, Atlanta, or maybe Chicago airports an option for you? Try looking through the POE reviews on here.

Sorry that you went through all this process and were denied. When you file for your marriage certificate, are you able to use the engagement date as the date of the marriage? If so, your husband might be eligible for IR1 instead of CR1 visa, which means he receives his 10yr green card upon arrival, instead of the conditional one.

Have you contacted NVC to see if they ever shipped it? I think I've read on here that they send it via DHL and you can track it (or they can) with a tracking number. So you scheduled your VAC and interview apt when you saw that the status on ceac changed to ready, but they claim they never physically received the file at the embassy?
I recommend you get in contact with your state's congressman or senator ASAP, since you haven't been successful in getting a hold of anyone. They have internal gov methods of communication and have access to information that we do not. My state congressman's office has been VERY helpful.

I just waited for it to be issued. There is nothing you can do... And if you do contact anyone they just give you general information to check the status on the site
ok, thanks!

Hey I just wanted to update everyone. Visa issued 01/26/2016 and visa ready to pickup 01/27/2016
Were you able to get in touch with the embassy? Did you have to do anything for them to issue the visa, or did you just wait it out?
-
Yes, once your status changes to ready on the ceac site, it means the consulate received your case. You go to ustraveldocs.com and schedule the interview and VAC appt yourself. Don't wait for them to contact you so you can be ahead of the game.

Can you guys file directly at the embassy? Search on the topic of DCF at the embassy.

his appointment letter only has one barcode... his ds-260 barcode is in a different paper. do you think that will be a problem? and yes his VAC appointment was scheduled for the 3rd
I'm sure you know how picky they can be in DR sometimes, over the littlest thing... I didn't want him to have any issues and delay anything, so I emailed USTravelDocs support, and asked them to add it in. When I tried to add the confirmation number to his profile, I would get an error.... I guess the profile can't be edited once you have an appointment or something. So I emailed support and they added it in on the back end. Then they emailed me the new appointment letter with both barcodes.

Hi,
So it sounds like you have the interview and VAC appointments scheduled? I'd recommend he go for his medical and the VAC appointment (fingerprints) on the same day. Medical first, and then go over to Galeria360. You can find form DS260 through the ceac site, where you pay the fees. He will need that confirmation page for his VAC and medical appointment. Then in the profile, make sure to add the confirmation number from that. You'll get an email with the appointment confirmation, and it will include 2 barcodes. He has to print the email out and bring it with him to everything. This is what is normally known as the appointment letter. Feel free to message me if you have any other questions, I'm happy to help.

The prices are legit. My husband said he paid about 10K pesos for his medical exam and vaccines, the pictures were taken there. I honestly don't know if they charged for the pictures or if it was included in the fee. They took the pictures and didn't charge anything at the VAC appointment at Galeria360.

I filed as Head of Household, which doesn't specify if Married. You can always ask your tax preparer, too.

The receipts from the visit will list what vaccines she was given.

Just something to keep in mind... I have heard of cases where computer systems are down and they have had to cancel all appointments and reschedule for the next day. I would say fly back at least the following day. Also, some people are there all day long, so don't book a flight to early, because you might not have time to make it back to the airport. Good luck!

Hi everyone,
I'm a bit confused about the interview scheduling process in the DR for CR1 visas. I remember earlier this year the embassy made some process changes. They now us USTravelDocs. I created a profile and it seems you can schedule an appointment whenever you'd like. So once your case is complete at NVC do you schedule it yourself, or does the NVC schedule it for you? In our case, our expedite request was approved and the case is in transit to the Embassy. Do I wait for the Embassy to schedule the appointment or just go ahead and schedule it myself? I'm so tempted to schedule the interview since it seems I can easily do so online!
Thanks in advance.

When I filed ours, I had to select "unknown" to answer the address of the applicant's children because the field for the "country/region" would not open or allowed me to select or type.
Did you have any issues like that?
No, it allowed me to enter the complete address. May have something to do with the browser. I don't think it's a big deal to put unknown.

Hi all, we filled out the DS-260 today and found it funny there was a typo on there! In the section about children, one of the questions said dose instead of does. Can't believe no one has caught and changed that lol anyhow, we are another step closer, THANK GOD. Good luck to everyone for speedy and positive cases!!

I filed for expedite request (critical medical condition). Sent a personal letter, doctor's letter, and more evidence related. Hope to hear any type of response soon, denial or approval, hoping for approval of course, so I can at least know... does anyone know how long it would take to hear a response?
I've been reading it takes about 1-2 weeks to be reviewed by the embassy. NVC will send you an email to let you know your request is under review.

Give it a couple of days, call NVC and review the DS-261 over the phone (when I called them, I didn´t say I wanted to review my DS but instead said that I´d like to request my IV bill. The operator reviewed all our info and the fee showed available 2 hours later). The operator will probably ask you to confirm/add email adresses. Your IV fee bill will be available a couple of hours later.
I hope it helped a little bit
Thank you, this is great. Your signature is very helpful as well!

We got our case & invoice ID numbers today and already completed the DS-261 online. Do we still have to call in to give them our email? If I understand correctly, the next step is for them to review the form and invoice the fees? Then, once the fees are paid we send in our packets of documents?
-
I think around 3 weeks. We received ours after 20 days.
Thank you!

Hi all, NVC just received our case last week. What's the typical wait time, currently, to receive the case number? Thanks in advance!
CSC says case closed...what does this mean?

In the past I've gotten great information speaking with an immigration officer at USCIS instead of the tier 2 officers. Have you thought of making an InfoPass appointment and going in? I also had a great experience with that. Even though they weren't able to solve my problem, they were able to give me way more info than whenever I called in. Good luck!
