  1. When I still was in Vietnam and applied for the single status certificate around Jun/July 2014, they did call and ask me to bring my fiancé with me to the appointment so they would do an interview before they decided to issue me the certificate. They said that's the government rule and that's how they always ask when you apply for the certificate. I explained to them that my fiancé was living and working in the U.S so he couldnt come to Vietnam with me just to get the certificate. Then they asked me to come see them anyway and they would make their decision later. When I got there, they even didn't ask me any questions but gave me a form to fill in. After that I just went home and waited for the certificate to be issued. Hope this helps!

  2. Hi all,

My fiancee and I met when she came to the U.S. under a J1 visa. We lived together for the one year and one month she was in the U.S. After she finished her internship program, we had a couple of weeks to travel in the U.S. before she returned home in August 2013.

In December 2013, I filed a K1 visa petition and we just received NOA2 at the end of June 2014. Now we are waiting for NVC to transfer our case to the Consulate in Vietnam and then get ready for the interview.

    So my question is…

Is it necessary for me to go to Vietnam to visit her and her family and/or go with her to the interview in HCMC? Does it hurt our case if I don’t visit? Could it be a red flag for the official?

I've never been to Vietnam or anywhere that far away before. The longest distance I have travelled was from New York to Switzerland and Italy. I don’t really like flying to begin with and I'm a big tall guy, so it's not comfortable being on a plane, especially for the 20+ hours it will take to get to Vietnam. I also don't have many vacation days left for the rest of this year, so it would be nice if I don't have to go but can wait for her to arrive back in the U.S. and we can be together again. So then, in the immortal words of the Clash, should I stay or should I go?

    Thanks,

    J

  3. Hi friends,

We got approved today. When I just saw the email about an hour ago, I jumped and danced and laughed, my mom sitting next to me didn't know what was going on and said "Are you crazy?". I am still on the moon right now though ;). I don't know if my fiance knew it yet but he seems quite so I'm trying to reach him via email and on Skype.

I wish you guys who are still waiting will receive good news soon. Btw, I am beneficiary.

    Love,

  4. Hi Siennaslammer and Pete82,

Thank you for your excellent posts and guidances. My fiance and I are still waiting for noa2 but I am already excited about the new service system that U.S Embassy offered, which made it much easier for applicants here in Vietnam. Before they announced this great news, I couldn't believe how long we had to wait to get to the interview date after the noa2. Now I'm very happy and relieved even we still have a long way to go :).

If any of you tried the new system, could you please let me know how interview date options work? Do they have different available days that appear on the screen for us to pick or only one day available each time?

    Thanks

  5. Thank you for your explanation Anonymous885. It's very helpful for me.

From the link you sent, I understand they don't request Vietnamese documents to be translated into English except for some special cases that they might ask for. My fiance just stay at the same place in the U.S for >15 years and works for the same company. He didn't travel much except some short trips to Europe. So I guess it's not difficult for them to check things out. Let me see if I can have them done anyway if it's convenient in this little hometown.

Best wishes to your both happy life together.

  6. Hi Anonymous885,

Thank you for your recommendation. You're right that it's better for me to obtain that single status record even I don't have to. Also as you said, if the process only takes 1-2 days, then why not...smile.png

Did you submit the single status record and police record # 2 to the U.S consulate without translations? My consulate for interview is in Ho Chi Minh city. I heard some documents are requested to be translated into English, but I don't know at which point or for what kinds of docs you have to and for what you don't. Just confused....

    Hi Todd&Hanh,

Thank you for sharing your stories and advice. I'm sorry for what you had experienced at that village. I really felt angry at people who made things difficult for you to have some money for them. I heard a lot about this and felt ashamed for what they have done here.

I did the police record in my hometown once before I went to the U.S and luckily there was no problem at that time. I hope it will be fine with my single status record.

    Thanks

  7. Hi Everyone,smile.png

My fiance sent out our i-129f package to TSC on Dec 23, 2013 and we're now waiting for noa2. Meanwhile, I want to have a good idea of what I need to do after he gets approved, so I'm going over a checklist of required documents for the interview but am not sure about a few things as follows:

    1. Original Foreign Police Certificate: Do I need to obtain this certificate?

I went to the U.S on July 2012 for an one-year internship program, and that's where I met my fiance (which was my bf back then). After more than one year getting to know each other, we fell in love rose.gifheart.gifno0pb.gif . Three months after I returned home, he proposed and then filed the petition. I didn't overstay my visa and am not subject to the 2-year rule.

    2. Marital Status Documents or Single Status Certificates: We both haven't been married before, so Marital Status Docs do not apply to us. Still, do we have to get the single status certificates?

    3. Original Justice Record Check #2 (aslo known as Police Certificate #2): If I'm trying to have this cert. first, how long does it remain valid from the date of issue?

    Please help me!!! sad.png

  8. Hi Ck207,

At this step, your case will be forwarded to the National Visa Center (NVC) by your Service Center. One to two weeks after you receive the noa2, you (the petitioner) can start calling the NVC to see if they have received your approved I-129f package and to get your new case number.

As far as I know, you can check your case update on USCIS website when it is shipped to NVC and will receive a letter by mail when your case is forwarded to the listed Embassy. It will have the new case number in it too.

Once you have the case number from NVC, you can use it to trace the case at:

    https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?eQs=o/iS8zDpeAKjMWCuebHqOw==

Meanwhile, you should be getting everything together for the above mentioned I-134 affidavit of support (AOS) and all supporting documents needed for the beneficiary for the interview.

I honestly don’t know much about the co-sponsor stuff. But I saw a very interesting post with great information that I think it would help regarding your concerns. The organizer did has a great explanation on how the affidavit of support/co-sponsor works and what documents and proof are needed to meet the requirements.

    Good luck.

  9. Hi Ck207,

Below is the checklist that I prepare for my fiance to get an idea of what we need to do after his I-129F is approved. As you already received your noa2, you need to prepare and send those documents to your fiancee once completed, so she can review in advance and bring them with her at the interview.

    1. Copy of the Entire I-129F Package

    2. Original Letter of Intent (dated much closer to the interview)
    3. I-134 (Affidavit of Support Form)
    4. Items Needed for the Above Form. Gather duplicate evidence of income and resources as appropriate:
    4.1. Bank account information
Statement from an officer of the bank/financial institution with your deposits, identifying the following: 1. date account opened; 2. total amount deposited for the past year; 3. present balance
    4.2. Letter from Employer
Statement(s) from your employer on business stationary showing: 1. Date and nature of employment; 2. salary paid; 3. whether position is temporary or permanent
4.3. Recent Pay Stubs & Tax Returns
Include copies of your last two pay stubs and your previous W-2 for the associated employer if available
    5. Copy of the NOA2 (that you received in the mail)
    6. Proof of Ongoing Relationship
Include photos, travel documents, emails, online chat logs, etc.. from between the time you filed and present (NOA1 until date-now).
(Section: What to send to your fiance(e) once the I-129F is approved (Receive NOA2): )

I hope this helps. Please correct me if I miss something everybody.
  10. Hi Jon York,

Good question. I think it doesn't hurt to try calling them if your estimated VJ timeline is passed but you haven't heard any news yet. At least you'll receive some feedback when you call, rather than just sit there and be nervous.

Our estimated timeline for noa2 is about 2 weeks behind you and we are at TSC. I hope you'll get approved before or right on Feb 14 that would be much excited for both of you. I wish you and everybody here best of luck.

  11. So, I have a question for everybody. If you click on someone's VisaJourney timeline, it says at the bottom, something like this:

Based on timeline data, your I129f may be adjudicated between January 28, 2014 andFebruary 6, 2014*.

If this date range has passed or your application is past due per USCIS processing times then you should consider calling the USCIS to inquire on your petition.

But, when you check with the USCIS times, it says 5 months for 129F's. But my VisaJourney timeline says I should get an NOA2 between February 5 - February 14.

So my question is - should I call them after the 14th if we haven't gotten yet? Or should I wait 5 months until May to call??

    Confused!

  12. Hi siennaslammer,

I'm sorry to hear that you got such an annoying thing happened to you and your fiancee. If I were in that situation, I would have felt very upset and not being respected by those people/whoever set that obligatory at the hotel.

I'm Vietnamese. My fiance who is living in the US filed the petition for us last December. Please forgive me if my english is not so good.

As far as I know, there's no problem for couples (boyfriends/girlfriends) who live together in same apartments or stay in hotels if they are free from their both-side families.

I think there are 2 things those bullsh*t people at this bullsh*t 5-star hotel look at: 1. you're a foreign national, 2. your vietnamese fiancee (which is your girlfriend at that time). They requested you for marriage certificate because they're afraid foreign men who rent rooms to spend nights with girls who are paid to sleep with them. They shouldn't let innocent people like you involved in such bad experiences. They should feel ashamed for it. I hope you and your fiancee will not have to be in that situation again. Good luck to your journey together.
