  1. What form did you fill out that listed your neighbors info? How in the world can they keep someone in AP since 2001? That is just insane. Thank you for your support Sharon! xo and I don't know what a DV lottery is either.

Your beneficiary would have received 3 pages when placed in AP. One of the paper asked you to list phone and address of a neighbor and friend they could contact as they investigate your case.

The lady in AP since 2001 was for a different type of visa. The baby daddy had filed for their kids and her. Don't know why it took so long.

DV lottery is USCIS Electronic Diversity Visa Lottery that gives about 50,000 people opportunity to come into the US with a Green Card. That opportunity is closing for Nigerians now as I have heard.

  2. There's no way there are going to tell you what they are doing if you are in AP which can mean field investigations and monitoring, watching. You just have to hang in their.

Look at Schynam they were in AP since September just got Visa. I had a friend in AP field investigations since January they got 2nd interview scheduled in 2 weeks. So hang in there. Sorry.

    Correction DWheels,

We were in AP since December 9, 2013.

And yes, they won't tell you what they are doing. But I can help Escosbaby piece it together.

They would give one field Agent all the AP files for a specific region in Nigeria. They will not return those files until every last beneficiary on that list has been visited. That's why it is taking so damn long.

In my case, only one person visited folks staying in Oyo State and Oshun State. That much I know cos the guy visited us in RingRoad, Ibadan. Stayed 15 minutes at our place and moved on to the next Ibadan person. One of the neighbors we listed on our form saw them at her church right after he left us.

Then when my Fiancee was called to bring her passport, she met with other people who were also on AP. One of them since 2001. And majority of them were from cities around Ibadan in Oyo State and Oshun State. Their exchanges verified the same guy visited with them and all of them got called after their files were returned to the embassy.

Escosbaby, just hang in there. It will be your turn soon to sing. It got to a point that the Embassy staff warned me to stop pestering them with emails and calls. But I wasn't having any of that. I kept them on their toes.

    Good luck.

  3. I can feel your frustration. If it would help have her start learning a vocation like sewing. To keep her mind off the immigration "slowmail".

Congrats on the baby on the way.

I have often asked myself too if it was worth the pains that the Embassy puts us through. And the only way it could be justified is the success of the unions.

Stay strong and continue to encourage the woman you love. It will end for good soon.

  4. One other thing you should know. If your fiance is located in a remote place, good luck on getting anyone to visit her and complete the investigation.

They normally make one long trip to a specific city and conduct their investigations for all affected cases in that area within hours or days,

But maybe they will visit the beneficiary on one day, then come back weeks or months later to visit with neighbors or her work of place. This is what causes the delays majorly. Hence it is beyond the embassy to do something.

If your field investigator decides to spend that time on a personal errand, guess who is suffering from such delays.

  5. You need to call the Lagos Consulate. Don't be surprised if they don't have your file because the field investigators do not return files to them on time.

In my case, we have been in AP since December 2013 and they visited my fiancee in Ibadan some 3 weeks ago. After two weeks of the guy's visitation, I called the Consular Section only to be told they are waiting for our file to be returned.

Since it wasn't that long ago, I told my fiancee to call the number used in contacting her. The guy picked up the phone and said there were still more investigations needed and so the file hasn't been returned to the Consulate.

This is some load of BS.

Be advised to go home and marry your girl. Come back and file as a married couple.

  6. I have emailed them before and they only told me they would contact him when they were complete. I have spoken with the DOC several times and they can't give me any infomrmation and I have also asked my Congressman to contact them on our behalf which his reply was he would do everything he could do.

How did you out who the DOC is? And do you have a number? I would like to try my luck calling him.
