  1. Hello Jelena,

I know you've had a lot of responses already, but as a person who had a baby in May I just wanted to say to you, that your health and the health of your baby is paramount. I had an uncomplicated straight forward pregnancy (thank God), I did travel to the US when I was 3 months and 4 months pregnant but there was no way I was getting on a flight after 6/7 months into my pregnancy, travelling when not being pregnant can be stressful, let alone when heavily pregnant. Then there's the stress of where you will have your baby in the US and the financial side of it. My husband has insurance through work, but as I already started my antenatal care and was familiar with the hospital and medical professionals where I gave birth it made sense to have the baby in London. My husband came to London for the birth and we applied for a CRBA which was processed quite quickly. Myself and my son are now in the US only having travelled here last month as I wanted the baby to have some of his vaccinations in London before coming here (US).

As has already been said, please do not feel bullied into putting your health and the health of your unborn baby at risk, you know what is right/best for the both of you.

I wish you all the best in your pregnancy and future.

  2. Yesterday NVC informed that my case is complete and I will be receiving further information regarding this shortly. I am hoping that I'll have my medical and interview Nov/Dec. I have already booked a flight to the US to spend Christmas and New Year with my husband and I am hoping that I can enter with the US with the conditional green card then, providing all goes well at the interview. I will return to London in January 2015.

I am also pregnant and I would like to have my baby here in London as I have started my antenatel care here and I am familiar with the health professionals and hospital where I plan to have my baby. In addition my family will be here and my husband can fly over to be with me at the birth. Also there's the fact that health care is free here and I also would like to work for a bit longer to save up some more money and there's the fact that I have other things to tie up before I move to the US permanently. The baby is due in May 2015

    So here are my questions:

How long from the medical/ interview (provided I am issued with a conditional green card) do I have to leave the UK and move to the US? I would like to travel to the US in Dec 2014 with the conditional Green card, return in Jan 2015 and go for good with the baby around August/September 2015. Will this cause any problems?

What paper work will I need to complete for the baby to move to the US?

I understand that I/my husband have to adjust my status after being married for two years, but this will need to be done 90 days before the two years is up? Well July 2015 will be two years so this will need to be done by April, but I do not plan to be in the US at this time. Will this be a problem?

What do you think will be my best option? Ideally I would like to have my baby in London, is this possible without affecting my chances of moving to the US. Or would it be better to have the baby in the US?

I would appreciate helpful and factual advice.

    Thank you.

  3. With regards to your next trip, you'll be fine. Perhaps have a copy of your itinerary ready to show your return ticket/details just in case.

Prior to being married, I've entered the US on holiday and visiting family once/ twice a year for short periods (every year possibly since 2003) and I've never been asked to show my itinerary. The most I've been asked about a previous trip is- when did you visit last and and do I remember how long it was for.

I wouldn't think or worry too much about it.

  4. Divalicious- I just came back from the US last week, visiting my husband. No they do not keep a record of what you say.

Like others have said do not volunteer information, just answer them honesty as they ask you questions. I was asked what was the purpose of my visit and who I was visiting. To which I responded a holiday and my husband. I was then asked is he moving to the UK or am I moving there, I said I was moving there and that was that!

I am also hoping to go back in December. I know how you might feel under pressure or nervous, but like others have said do not volunteer information, just answer them honesty as they ask you the questions.

  5. I just came back from my visit in the USA, when I went through US Immigration they asked me what I was doing here, I said I was visiting a friend. They asked how we met and under so much pressure, I said we met through a friend when he was visiting the UK but this was actually false. We met online and this was going to be our first time of meeting. They let me through when I gave names of my friends I was visiting and my job information. Would they have kept exact notes on what I said?

I am now going back in December and I am so terrified of going through Immigration again. What would you suggest I say this time?

I cannot believe how stupid I was.

  6. Now it states my DS-261 is incomplete, despite completing it, receiving a message stating that it can no longer be amended and receiving an e-mail saying my DS-261 has been submitted. I can still go in and amend it???

  7. So my hubby paid the $88, it's come up as paid. I completed the DS-261, it's got my hubby's contact details on it. I guess we'll wait until the IV fee is available and he's in the process of completing the I-864. Thanks for information.

  8. in the payment portal,

are instructions / links for what's next and what to do.

if yer USCitizen Spouse is not clicking on things, I not know what to tell you.

Clicking on things???? It's ok, we got this.

Did you filed the DS-261 (Choice of Agent)? You can access it through https://ceac.state.gov/ceac/ the actual name of the form is DS-261, Online Choice of Address and Agent. Basically it tells NVC who they should be sending communications to. Most people select the petitioner in the US. It should take a couple of days for the DS-261 to be processed. Once processed the Immigrant Visa fee is invoiced an an option to pay the Immigrant Visa fee is available online at the same place that you paid the AOS fee. Once the Immigrant Visa Fee is paid then the DS-260 (the actual application) becomes available.

At this stage you can file the Affidavit of Support package, which includes the cover sheet that you can get from where your receipt is online, an I-864 (you can get that from USCIS website), and supporting documentation to show the petitioner (and join sponsors, if needed) can support the intended immigrant.

  9. I understand I don't need to wait for instructions from the NVC, I'm asking if they will send info? I mean suppose I didn't have access to this site how would I know what happens next, as in do they actually send info detailing this? The reason I ask is because my husband is dealing with all of this and he isn't on this site. Seems like he's decided to wait on hearing from the NVC, I'm just hoping they do send him some info, I'll guess he'll call if he doesn't hear from them.

    Thanks for your help.

  10. Not sure how different Egypt and the United Kingdom are but my fiance got his police report after our case was sent to the Embassy. He has to send a police report to the Embassy soon (along with all the other paperwork they said to send in the email). They are good for 3 months and he will have to just get a new one anyways if it takes longer than 3 months to get an interview.

I just called NVC about 10 days after I received our NAO2 and they told me it was transferred to Egypt and gave me our case number.

What is AOS fee? We don't pay anything until my fiance goes to his interview.

    AOS fee was $88

You don't need to wait for any instructions from NVC to proceed. Assemble the AOS package (I-864 with supporting documents) and get in the mail to NVC. Make sure to send the bar-coded cover sheet with the AOS package.

The police certificate gets submitted with the IV package -- which will be the next step in the process.

At this stage you and your husband contribute to how fast you get through NVC based on how quickly you submit documents.

This should help to make the steps a little clearer.

  11. Hello,

I know there's been loads of questions on the NVC stage and I've seen the latest NVC process on here, buts there's some parts I'm not clear about.

So I'm finally at the NVC stage. My husband just paid the AOS fee and it states paid online. What happens next? We haven't received any instructions on what to do next. Will he receive any instructions? My husband seems to think the NVC will mail him some info, but I'm not convinced. Also when is it best for me to apply for my police certificate, do I need to do it at this stage or at the interview stage?

    Thank you.

  12. Hello,

Apologies if you have heard this before, but can anyone who is also a beneficiary of an I-130 tell me on average how long it takes for it to be completed? I mean to the point at which I am able to travel to the US. I'm a UK citizen, my husband is a US citizen, USCIS received our I-130 application on 9th October 2013 although we sent it off at the beginning of September 2013, anyway...

I feel like I'm just left in limbo, it's hard to plan anything when you don't know what's happening. Yes I am aware of the precarious processing times.

    Could anyone shed some light?

    Thank you.

  13. Hey everyone,

I'm new to this site, hoping to obtain a better understanding about the I-130 process.

My husband is American by birth, I'm British, we got married in July this year in the US, I live in London, he lives in the US. My husband completed and sent off the I-130 on my behalf in September. This week he received e-mail notification from USCIS stating that they have received the form and will be sending him a the I-797 form shortly. So here's my questions:

    What is the I-797?

How long does the I-130 take process? What are the different stages? What, if any, are the additional costs (other than the initial $420 for the I-130)?

My husband was told that he can also complete the I-129f, I think it is, which might speed up the process, is this correct?

I would appreciate any advice from others that have been through or who are also going through the same process.

    Thank you.

    AJ.
