  1. Hello to all VJ memebers,

I have friend who is trying to apply for citizenship but he did not register with the Selective Service. He came here as refugee when he was 25.5 years old. His case worker  (from the agency who helped him) told him that he does not have to apply because he is over 25 years old. But citizenship application said that you have to register until you reach 26th birthday.

Can anybody advice us about this problem?? I am wondering if somebody else had similar situation and what he did.

    All help is welcome.

    Greetings.

  4. This is e-mail we received from USCIS today :

    "Receipt Number: MSCXXXXXXXXXX

Application Type: I485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status

    Current Status:

On October 31, 2006, we transferred your I485 Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status to an office in CALIFORNIA SERVICE CENTER for processing. Our office in CALIFORNIA SERVICE CENTER will send you a written decision as soon as processing is complete. You should receive a notice informing you that your case has been transferred to a local office. "

My wife already had her biometrics appointment , I hope for fast approval form CSC.

    Thank you

  5.:dance: Congratulations rebelheart that is very good news. I guess USCIS knows sometimes to send good news for holydays.:dance:

I and my wife received same letter last night and I did not know if transfer is very good news. Now can somebody tell me is transfer to California CS great news or not. Because I thought that transfer to Chicago CS means Green Card withouth interview or at least that the case will be resolved faster ??

    You answers are very appreciated.

    THank you.

  6. Hello to all of you,

I and my wife mailed her AOS paperwork to the USCIS on 9/1/2006 . With all the paperwork we mailed international birth certificate (when I say international it means that is has english version as well)but we still received RFE ,they wanted us to translate BC ,so we did it and mailed it to them a week ago. Today we received this e-mail from USCIS and I do not have clue what it means. Can anyone help me to understand this e-mail.

    Here is the e-mail :

"Application Type: I485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status

    Current Status:

On October 19, 2006, we received your response to our request for evidence or information. However because preliminary processing was complete, the remaining processing time will be less than the maximum stated in this message. You will receive a written decision on this case. You can use our processing dates to estimate when this case will be done. Follow the the link below for current processing dates. "

Is this just regural staff they e-mail to everybody and what is all this about preminary processing was complete,I do not get it.

And can anyone tell me what it means to be transfered to Chicago and how do you know that you case is transfered to Chicago ??

    Thank you for your help.

  7. Stina ,thank you for fast answer.

But still I am confused, because on USCIS web site they say that receipt number starts with three letters such as EAC, WAC, LIN, or SRC,they are not mentioning MSC anywhere. So that is what is bothering and confusing me.

    Thanks

    hi mr1nice,

Give more time for your receipt number to be added to their systems. it takes 2-3 weeks for me to check online after i got my NOA. the MSC means your file was assigned to Missouri Service Center. You will enter your rceipt number as ---> MSCxxxxxxxxxx ( dont type the dash {-} ).

Question: Did chicago gave you a 2 NOA's ( 1 for AOS & 1 for EAD )... Did they assigned different receipt number for your AOS & EAD??? just asking.... bcos until now i still can't check my EAD receipt number on their website, when i tried typing my receipt number it still says error. If you could see my timeline below, i got some feedbacks already online for my AOS but no feedback yet for my EAD bcos of i cannot check it online yet.

    Gudluck & thanks!

    rebelheart

Don't worry about the Work Permit. I have my interview appointment on Wednesday the 20th, and despite this, I haven't been abled to check my I-765 online. So although you don't find it, they still working!!!! :P

Hello again and I want to thank everybody for help and for words of support and wisdom. Chicago SC ,mailed me 2 NOA's ,one for AOS and one for EAD and they assigned 2 different receipt numbers.

Now MSC ,means that our case is assigned to Missouri Service Center ,is this good or bad news ???

    Thank you

  8. Hello to All,

I and my wife are in process of AOS her status. We mailed AOS and EAD paperwork last month and finally today we received I-797 C (notice of action) for both applications.

Now I tried to register her for Case Status Service on USCIS website and when I tried to add her receipt number, this is what it said to me: " Attempting to add a case that does not exist. Check the app receipt number". I tried both receipt numbers and tried more than once and it still is telling me that something is wrong.

The receipt number for my wife starts with MSC ,and this is what I got from USCIS website : " It begins with three letters such as (EAC, WAC, LIN, or SRC)".

Is there something wrong with her receipt number or what is the issue here.

    THANK YOU IN ADVANCE !!

  9. Did you not submit a birth certificate with your k1 visa application? I thought it was required? Or do you mean that she left it in her home country because that way someone can mail it to her? I sent my BC and passport in with mine because the guides stated so.

As for I-1693A, you get this once in the USA. You take her card she has from her medical overseas with her shot records on it and take that to a civil sugeon in the USA to transfer onto a I-693A. It can cost anywhere between 25-50 dollars and thats if she doesnt need any up to date shots.

We did submit birth certificate for K-1 visa application, but my questions is about AOS application, because it said that we need to submit copy of birth certf. and/ or passport .So do we need to submit both or copy of passport is enough if we do not have her birth certf. now with us ????

Regarding I-693A,where do we get this form ,at civil surgeon office or somewhere elese, I tried to locate it on the web but without succes. And can we submit DS-3025 instead of I-693A ???

    Thank you all,

    A & A

  10. Hello VJ- members,

I have 2 questions and would appreciate if someone could help and give me some info. I and my wife are filling out I-485 and we are facing 2 problems.

First question or problem is following :" A copy of the intending immigrant's birth certificate and/or passport along with English translation. (If in any language other than English)", Because we do not have her birth certificate here in USA , is passport enough or we have to submit copy of BC and passport ??

Second question is about vaccination supplement (I-693A), my wife had her medical and vaccination overseas but she did not receive I-693 or I-693A ,the paperwork that she has is DS-3024,DS-3025,DS-3026, now I am wondering what we need to do. Is DS-3025 enough because on this one it talks about her vaccination or we need to find doctor to do I-693A ?? And she has a vaccination card as well where it states which one she received.

    Thank you very much.

  16. Hello Irishgirls ,

I am really sorry to hear that . But I am just wondering if your petition is under AR or investigation . Because they told you that VSC will investigate your case ,and maybe that is what they are doing and that is what they told congresswoman , and that is what they meant when they told informed your congresswoman.

I am trying to view this on positive way and hopefully I am right . I wish both of us a lot of luck because we are in similar situation.
