  1. Hi all,

It's soon one year that I got a green card and moved to US. I clearly remember that day of April 3, 2014 when I stepped on the land as F2A VISA holder.

The problem is that after few month wait I started to get worried about the green card. It did not arrive. I started to call monthly just to get the same answer - we are sorry, there was a card production problem, we created a ticket (write it down) and in one month you should receive it. Except that every month it repeated over and over.

I even wrote to the USCIS center a letter explaining a problem. They answered me that I should instead call. Period.

Did somebody encounter a situation like this? What can be a solution?

    Thank you very much

    Vlad & Olga

  2. Thanks. I will ask for such already-translated document.

Regarding the non-requirement for notarized translations: does this mean I can do the translation myself for the following documents and send them to the NVC ?

    - certificat de position militaire

    - casier judiciaire

good news for the US embassy, because such notarized translations can be very expensive.

    thanks for the feedback

Not 100% sur for the "certificat de position militaire" but you don't need to notarize the "casier judiciaire" document. Make sure it is translated by a certified translator *AND* send the original! I requested 2-3 copies of the same document.

    Bon courage ;)

Thanks. I will ask for such already-translated document.

You can request very easily the casier judiciaire document over the internet.

  3. Hello, dear friends.

I had the interview today. I was told that my application is approved and handed a piece of white paper that says I am approved. Later, I found out my online status is under administrative processing and it was updated today.. Is everybody under administrative processing right after the interview? Or most people's status is [issued] right after the interview?

    Thank you very much.

Congrats! I understand you since I also saw my visa approved just few days ago!

In my case I did not seen AP on the ceac website. We checked it and saw ISSUED! I got my visa in 2 days after the interview (Paris consulate).

  4. XEON, can you please confirm that the following vaccinations were the only ones necessary:

    1) Diphteria (diphterie)
    2) Tetanus (tetanos)
    3) Polio

    4) Measles, mumps, rubella (MMR vaccine) two shots required (rougeole, oreillons, rubeole)

    5) Varicella (Chicken Pox) unless you have actually had the illness (varicelle)

Yes, these are the ones I got from my family doctor. It took me few months to get them one by one. If you lived in France since childhood, chances are that you have most if not all of them. Make sure that you have your "Carnet des vaccinations" with this information inside.

  5. If I understand the whole process well, you will get a checklist if anything is wrong with your case (classic example - missing some evidence). The painful part is that with NVC is the waiting time. Each time you send something to them, that takes at 1 month. We had 2 checklists in a row for our Affidavit of Support.

Be patient. If something is not clear, ask here and do your research. Don't be afraid to call NVC as well.

  6. Dear Xeon,

    I have the same problem.

My dad has the original USSR Birth Certificate and I just got a letter from the NVC asking me to send the original.

Do you know if I need an apostill for this Birth Certificate?

On the last page of the certificate thers a stamp of the "Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR"

    Thanks.

    Hi,

I think I understand your anxiousness. We went through the same. To explain the big story shortly, we decided to send the original knowing that this is usually *NOT* a good idea. This did not pose a problem after all and I got the visa, thanks God.

I was born in Ukraine during USSR and hence got the birth certificate from that country. When I was a kid, we moved to Latvia and this is where I lived most of my life. I used this birth certificate all the time until recently. Then lately we realised that there might be a problem and I contacted Latvian embassy in France (I live there). They told me that the USSR birth certificates are NOT valid in EU! At the same time, they cannot just print a birth certificate from Latvia. And at the same time, the Ukrainian embassy representative told me that in Ukraine the document is OK but still - they cannot send me the birth certificate! So... I asked the Latvian embassy in France to send me a document in which they say basically that they cannot issue the birth certificate. I got this document easily & fast.

During the interview they had my USSR birth certificate original and translation, and everything was fine for them. I kept the document from embassy just in case they want more proof. I did not tell them that I got it.

Yeah, sending original is quite risky, I know. I don't like to do this, especially for an important document which cannot be replaced easily.

What concerns the apostille, I know that this was needed for my marriage certificate issued in US to be recognised in Latvia. I did not get apostille for my birth certificate.

  7. Hi vjers,

I would like to share my experiences in getting through the medical today in Paris. To resume everything in one phrase, the procedure is quite simple but devote most of your day for it.

For my medical I picked Dr Francis SLATTERY. The whole procedure started by booking the day. I advise you to call them as soon as you get your I/L. They are not very flexible with dates. They propose just few choices and you must pick on of the dates.

My appointment was at 11h40, local time. I arrived in time and handed in my passport, one photo (french ID version) and "carnet de vaccination". The secretary gave me three forms to fill while I waited the first meeting. Make sure you fill all the three forms

    - medical history (basically a check list)

    - form for blood analysis lab (they check only for syphilis, nothing else)

    - form for mammography lab (they check lungs for tuberculosis I guess)

The first meeting came quite quickly. The Dr reviewed the checklist and asked few quick questions about it, nothing to worry about. Then he proceeded to checks:

    - eyes (if you wear contact lenses, let him know)

    - blood pressure

    - weight

    - closer inspection of ears and eyes

    ...

The important part is vaccination card. Do you best to get most if not all vaccines before with your family doctor, else you will see your case delayed! I had missing second shot for one vaccine and he made me to go and find in a local pharmacy.

He did not ask the medical history document "carnet de sante". I worried about it since I was not born in France.

The first and easy step is to go then (just over the street) and get the blood analysis done (you will pay for it on place). Quick and seamless. The second step is to get the mammography scans. This lab is much further away, like 10 minutes of walking. Once at the good number, make sure you do not enter the residential building since it holds the number of the address! It may be tricky to get out xD. There waiting time may be longer. Overall the staff was very friendly and helpful, although I doubt if they can speak more than few basic words in english...

Once back from the two labs, I waited at least an hour to get to the second meeting. That classic music started to bug me at the end of it all. Finally I got in, got the missing vaccine shot, the secretary handed over the sealed envelope and opened envelope with mammogram and vaccination card in english. She told me that you might need these documents on the US border. You can pay by check or in cash, which is precisely 180 euros.

Now getting ready to the interview, the most decisive part of the visa journey, which will be the next week!

  8. So glad for you! My wife is from Ukraine as well and she was following your case! Glad you made it through the unrest which reigns Kiev now! Hope you will be soon with your loved one!

Our interview is on 5th March. I am feeling bit anxious to get all the documents straight (especially the Affidavit of Support which we did 2 times and yet was not correct).

    Hi there!

My wife got approved last Friday on Feb. 21 in Kiev, Ukraine!goofy.gifgoofy.gifgoofy.gif Great thanks to whole VJ friendly community for such wealth of information than you provide here!!!

    Few facts about our case:

Our process went pretty ordinary. I was a sponsor for my wife. We got checklist because of one minor mistake in AOS. We changed our interview date from March 31 to February 21 (we contacted embassy in Kiev before that by e-mail). The rest you can see in my signature below.

You would wonder what questions were asked by immigration officer… and answer is: NONE :-))) He literally hasn’t asked any questions!!! My wife read formal oath and officer sad: “Everything is fine with your documents. You will receive your passport in one week.” You can not imagine our joy! They let me (as a beneficiary) in embassy building, so I was with her during whole posses. Every one was very friendly and helpful.

    Additional documents that we had:

    - 2013 tax return

    - Letter from my employer (explaining that I can come back to work after coming back to the US).

    - Photo album (25-30 pictures)

    - Skype logs, phone logs, emails

As some of you probably know Feb. 18 – 21 were extremely violent and deadly days of revolution that is still going in Ukraine, over 100 protesters were killed those days in Kiev. It was gloomy days for all Ukrainians. Because of all that we had really hard time getting to Kiev from Lviv. All trains were canceled; we luckily bought air tickets and safely got there.

I wish all best to all and easy and fast process for all of you!!!

  10. Please keep us all posted as soon as any interview letter comes over....my case has been completed since December 20th and waiting for an IL.

Do you know folks who got their ILs on Jan 27? If so what nationality and what was their priority date?

Unfortunately we cannot know the people and their nationality just querying the ceac website. That's why we need more people to come and report their progress.
