  1. On a more personal note, this is only my concern for what I see:

If your man refuses to listen to you about your child, what else will he refuse to listen to you about? This is a behavioral issue that raises red flags for me.

In addition, he'll only tell the truth if he's caught? Will he do the same to you when you're married?

I don't think one implies the other. He may be willing to lie to them but not his significant other.

Nevertheless, I agree with the advice being given here. Do not commit fraud. You need to get your fiancé on board with your plan to have his name removed from your child's birth certificate. Show him this thread, and maybe that'll convince him. Good luck, OP!

  2. Hi guys, just checked the CEAC for my status and it now says "issued". What does it mean exactly?

    Please advise.

    Thank you.

Congrats! It means you are approved and your visa has been issued! :)

Now it's just a matter of time before you have your passport back, with your visa in it.

  3. Hi SIN2LAX, thanks for bringing this up! I'm interested to find out too and based on research, they recommend that we open a Citibank US dollar account here. They have online banking to which we can transfer the funds to a local US bank account when we get there. There is a one time charge of around $30.00 I think. There is also a free international ATM card. This is what I'm planning to do after eliminating other options but some VJ members maybe able to advice us on what's best to do too.

You can go to your bank and get a form, fill it up and make the transfer at the bank itself before you leave Singapore. Or you can also transfer the money after you leave using ibanking. That's what I did. There's a fee for that, so make sure you find out the fee to be incurred from your bank before using ibanking. Hope that helps.

  4. Depends on the airport and how busy it is at the time. It took me almost an hour to get through, and most of it I spent sitting and waiting for the people before me to be processed. When it was my turn, it took no more than a couple of minutes for the officer to explain the conditions of the visa and grant me entry.

  5. OP, I feel bad for the predicament you're in. You have been honest, yet face being potentially punished for your honesty. All over a mistake you made a long time ago, that they wouldn't have otherwise known about had you not been so forthcoming. At the same time, dishonest people get though and go unpunished.

I sincerely wish you the best of luck. Keep us posted!

  6. you should put indonesia, not singapore, as the country of issuance. singapore cannot issue you an indonesian passport.

He should put Singapore as the country of issuance, since the passport was issued by the Indonesian consulate in Singapore.

Many years ago, I had a Singapore passport issued in KL, and so I had to fill in Malaysia as the country of issuance in official forms. Hope that helps.

  7. Umm. This is his WIFE. I don't understand how some people on this forum can tell someone to break off a marriage so easily. Heck, it's difficult enough if a couple is engaged. But you're asking someone to give up on their spouse, when they've already taken the vow to love each other in sickness and in health?

OP, I suggest you take the useful advice given to you by bkghosh. Don't give up on the process. It's possible to be with your spouse eventually and once you are with her, you can be there to support her every step of the way so she can give up the alcohol.

    Good luck.

  8. Wow. So many judgmental and negative people on here.

The waiver exists to be used in cases like this. None of us know what will happen at the USCIS or consulate stages. It is foolish to say they will definitely be denied. I for one think they have a good case for not having met. Please don't discount the OP's fiancé's medical condition when he is basically telling us he cannot travel. No, not even to Mexico.

Hamzah and Amna, good luck to you both! Keep us posted!

  9. Don't agree with the two earlier posters who are advising you to continue LYING on your DS-160!

You need to be completely truthful in the forms. Just fill it up HONESTLY and admit your mistake in omitting her past work experiences on the G-325. It's better to be put on AP and set the record straight than to continue lying.

Just my two cents, take it or leave it. Good luck.

  10. For the record, I never did receive a text from Aramex although I did get a notification email. I actually didn't need it because I had called up their Changi Aramex HQ to ask if my passport would be arriving the previous day. They are much more knowledgeable than the ones at the call centre. So for those who want their passports back as quickly as possible, be persistent in talking to the right folks and you can get your visa in hand in less than a week from the interview! smile.png

Hi hobbit, could you tell me how you managed to solve your issue? I get the same page "no appointment currently scheduled" and I cant seem to get away from there! Ugh! I also called aramex but the lady on the line is very unhelpful.

    Thanks in advce! :)

  11. Hi all, I read on here for Singapore, after the interview the US Embassy will ask for the interviewee to sign up with Aramex.

    • I am guessing Aramex is a courier service like DHL or Fedex?
    • Is the embassy using Aramex to send us passport with the visa later on?
    • What is the reason to register with Aramex, if they are just a courier service? I am not aware that for DHL or Fedex you gotta sign up for an account on their website?

Thank you everyone in advance for your help. I am very confused about this Aramex thingy. Haha smile.png
