My case was completed on March 7. I still am awaiting the interview date. It could takew another two months before my interview. I think it is a wait of 3-4 months for the interview date. NVC sends the list of completed cases to Montreal or Vancouver every 2nd week of the months to schedule interviews.

What is the consequence for a US born if he/she is caught drunk driving 3 times?? I hope it is of a very severe consequence similar to deportation. Believe what everyone may but there is always a stricter treatment to new immigrants. That is how the world works.

I called but they would not even talk to me properly. They just said the case was completed and the I will get a interview when I will. Atleast you got them to say that you should call back on April 15. I am going to Montreal consulate also.

I too think the interview will be in June. I just hope it is june and no later.

My case for Cr1 also got approved on March 7. I have yet to speak to a NVC officer and will try to talk on Monday or tuesday to find out. I wish that I get the interview for May end or early June lastest. It would be perfect for me.

My K3 took almost 4 months from reaching the embassy at Montreal to my interview date. The case was sent to Montreal on September 9 and my interview was for Jan 6. While sepaking to the montreal cousulate they said that it does not matter if you have K3 or K1 they are taking same time but just depends on the rush at that time. During the interview for K3 the consular asked about my Cr1 status and I said that we had to send the final documents which will be sent by Jan end. He said you should have your interview by May/June 2006.

Does anyone know exactly what it takes to become a Canadian citizen? I know we're moving to the US but I thought if I can become a dual citizen, why not? I'm just wondering how long you have to be here, how much it costs, what kind of paperwork, etc... Thanks!

I have my USCIS tracking account set up to send e-mails too, but have never received anything. The first time I knew about mu NOA's and biometrics was when I opened the mail-box! And I've yet to hear any news on my EAD or AP. I wouldn't put much too much faith in it to be honest and just have to keep checking the mail-box

I also knew about my biometrics when I opened the mailbox. Hope fully I will ge the EAD soon. I am tired of sitting around and telling prospective employers that I am awaiting my EAD.

I know how it feels to be discriminated. I also think that it is not fair to ask these questions to women. Inface once a women is pregnant they decide she is not worth hiring. That is not fair. As it is in USA they give on 6 weeks off legally to new moms. I think companies should see the person's abilities and not the sex or her status (maried or single) as a criteria. If women get lazy and tend to take the day off when a child is sick then men fall sick more often and also they are more lazier than women.

Anyway it is the company's loss and not yours.

I has my biometrics for EAD on 23 Feb in NYC. I have been trying to check on my case online but all it says it that they recvd my application on Jan 15 and tha it takes 30-90 days for processing. Nothing more. I was wondering does there be any more updates on the website or I just wait for the mail??

--I'm getting the same thing too. But other people said they get some updates regarding their application. I didn't even received emails from them.

Regarding the updates via email I think you have to register with them and request email updates. I just did it and in there it states the last update was on 2/28/06. They do not mention what the update was thought.

You have been given very good advise. I just would like to give you my experience. I married in April 2005 and as was not very aware of the proceadures my husband applied for my K3 and Cr1 only in July. Anyway I got my K3 on Jan 6 and moved to NY on Jan 11. My Cr1 also is in the final stage and is awating interview scheduling. I will go back to Montreal for the Cr1 interview.

I think you and your husband/fiance should look up the USCIS and NVC websites which will give you a fair idea about the process. There is not other way to go to US with your husband. It is not very difficult to fill up the forms.

I also faced similar situation when I had to go for my medical for K3 in september 2005. The doctor's office asked if I have an interview date yet. And all I said was no. Nothing to worry about in that case.

Packet 3 contains a check list containing the list of documents you need to collect and check against and then send back to the embassy. Also it contains DS230 Part 1 which needs to be completed and sent back. And DS156 which is to be filled but not signed and kept with youself to be presented at the time of the interview.

Packet 4 contains the interview appointment letter.

Once you marry you can apply for Cr1 and also for K3 simultaneously. I applied for both and it took 5 months for my K3 to go through. Either way you will have to go through a minium wait of 3-6 months before you can legally enter USA after your wedding.

Re Police Certificate - I lived in Aurora (a suburb of Toronto) and went to the regional Police station. Your husband can check in the website of his local police (London,Ontario) and they should have information there. When the local police give a certificate in Aurora they generally do a canada wide check which is connected with the RCMP. It is standard proceadure. It took 10 mins and 40.00 CND to get it and I could get additional copies for no charge.

Re Medical - I also got my DS230 for Cr1 - It does not contain any doctors list and I believe once you get your appointment letter for the interview you will get a list of doctors for your checkup. If he has all the vaccines done then he need to show proof like a record of it. If he has it then it is fine.

You do not have to send the medical with the packet to NVC. But the Police certificate I believe you have to if you are going for Cr1. I had to send it.

Just to confirm this is for CR1 Visa NVC sends the packet and collects the documents (except medical) and then schedules an appointment for an interview with Montreal. For K3 - After NVC conpletes the case it sends it over to the Embassy and Montreal sends the packet 3 which we need to collect documents and present it during the interview.

I got my appointment for biometrics yesterday. Two 2wks and 2 days after the 1st NOA. The appointment is in two weeks and two days just 2 days after one month from 1st NOA. Does anyone know how long does it take to get the EAD after the bio??

Hi,

My I 130 was approved and so we decided to go through with it. In the meantime I have netered the country in K3 Visa. I have just sent in the DS230 and I864 (my spouse sent it). I was wondering in the cover letter with the barcode it said the application was for IR1. As I understand IR1 is for people who have been married for over 2 year and we have not even reached one year. Do you think it is a mistake on part of NVC and they will correct it at the interview??
