Hi VJ community
My wife, a naturalized citizen, is acting as the petitioner of her two children in Thailand, to come to the US.
One is 14 and the other is 17
We've filled out the NVC Visa Application online and have the confirmations.
Now for the supporting documents... I'm not sure if WE have to send them in, or if the kids bring them to the interview.
We will be filling out a i864w for each child, as they will become US citizens upon their arrival as per CCA.
But, the signature line says to SIGN, unless the child is under 14, and then the parent can sign. SO, do I send a PDF copy to each child, and have them sign it, and bring to the interview?
It seems that I should send them in before the interview. So I'm confused about who should sign the i864w and where it should be submitted.Furthermore, it seems the child over age 16 needs a police clearance -- I guess he brings that to the interview as well
Other documents required:
2 passport photos (per child)Copies of birth certificates (with translations)
Copy of the biographic page from the Passport
Does all this go to the Interview in BKK,
Because another web page I saw said to send to :
National Visa Center
Attn: DR
31 Rochester Ave. Suite 100
Portsmouth, NH 03801-2914So especially for the i8654w, do the kids sign it, and send it back to me?
Can the US parent sign it HERE on their behalf?
So confusing, please help,Thanks so much!
Mike

Hello all
I am thankful to this board for all your help and advice during my K-1 process.
Now my wife is here and we are about to send in the paperwork for the adjustment of status (I-485)
We are also going to apply for Advance Parole.
Now, the directions say you have to file the I-485 first -- but has anyone filed them together at the same time?
They are both going to the California Service Center.
OR -- do I have to file the I-485 first and then wait for the receipt to send in with the I-131?
Thanks!

Yeah I guess you are all right. The only reason I want to throw them away is because I've been living with my fiancée here in Chiang Mai for the last 6 months, and I'm going back to the US next week. I brought all the docs with me, and just wanted to lighten my load on the way back. All that paperwork gets heavy.
Since I have 2 complete copies, I will leave one with my fiancée and take one with me. Seems like the best solution.
It's taken a long time to get the interview -- I think there was a problem with her getting the packet 3. After getting the NOA2, I kept waiting for the packet 3 to arrive ... but it never did. I wasted 2 months waiting. Finally I downloaded the paperwork and sent it in. We should be receiving an interview date soon, I would imagine, but unfortunately if I hadn't wasted those 2 months waiting for the Packet 3, I'm sure we'd be done by now.
Oh well.... if there's one thing I've learned in life, it's patience.
Thanks again to all responders,

Hey all
As my Topic title states, my case is now in the hands of the US Embassy in BKK and my fiancée is awaiting her interview.
Previously I had made 2 copies of my complete application which I sent to the Calif. Processing Ctr.
Now that my case has been approved and is already in BKK, can I throw them away?
Your advice, as always, is appreciated.

Question about i-864w and other supporting docs
in Bringing Family Members of US Citizens to America
Posted
If all this can be submitted and approved ASAP , the 17 year old will enter before turning 18.
How can she do the police clearance without being in Thailand? Doesn't that have to be done over there? He can get a family member to help....
But I still want to make sure my wife can sign the 864w even though both kids are over 14 (but under 18)
Thanks
