  1. After months of confusion and error on USCIS's part, we have finally received approval for the Advance parole I-131. Thanks ombudsman!

Our tickets are scheduled for next Wednesday.

We are hoping that the document will arrive before Wednesday. However, if it does not, will we have any issues leaving the country? It was approved (checked online). My parents will join us 3 weeks later and will be able to bring us the document then.

  2. That response is ridiculous. AP is used while waiting for the I-485 to be adjudicated. Why would they need to wait for the I-485 to be 'deemed sufficient'? That is full on blowing smoke up your booty nonsensical brush off by the USCIS.

You can call for an expedite, but I will second the above and say to make an Infopass appointment instead.

If still no luck, try the ombudsman route, since the congressman avenue was a bust >

Right? I thought it was ridiculous too. The whole point of the I-131 is so that we don't have to wait for I-485....

Plus our I-765 was already approved! Doesn't that mean the I-485 was "deemed sufficient"

It's wayyyyyy over the 90 days...

I've already filed an request for the ombudsman route. I was able to do this because it is now 60 days over the 90 days...

I'm contacting my congressman's office again tomorrow to explain why their response was insufficient.

I've tried all day to make an infopass appointment...but all the appointments are booked for the field offices near my home. :( I can't even make an appointment.

  3. Do you think we would be able to expedite over the phone?

It's not an emergency situation obviously, but tickets are booked and the wedding is booked. I know everyone says not to plan anything until you receive the documents. However, I'm a teacher and this is literally the only time I can travel. We waited to plan the wedding until 6 months after they received our documents thinking that was more than enough time to be approved...

I contacted our congressman again to see about expediting and I will call USCIS again tomorrow to go over our options...

Anyone know what to do to talk to someone higher up at USCIS?

  4. We contacted our congressman regarding the I-131. USCIS received our I-131 on December 16, 2015. We sent the I-131, I-765, and I-485 together. However, we forgot to sign the I-765 so it was sent back. We fixed the errors and then sent it back in.

My husband got his employment authorization in March without Advance Parole.

We have less than 1 month now before we are scheduled to go to Korea and we still have not received a decision on the I-131 after 157 days. The attached letter is what we received in the mail today from our congressman regarding the matter. It doesn't make sense to me because we already received our I-765.

The only thing i can think of is that it was processed faster because there was an error and so we sent it in separately.

The whole point of the I-131 is so we can travel while we wait for the green card!

Has anyone else ever received anything like this or had a similar experience? I'm wondering what to do now because we've purchased plane tickets and our wedding is set for July. We thought we gave ourselves more than enough time for the I-131 to process when we planned everything.
