Hi All,
For those who have had a request for evidence, how long after your RFE was confirmed delivered at the service center did it take for your package to be processed?

Just changed the formatting of the first line so it is clearer.

Visa approved in Montreal this morning! Met up with a fellow VJer which was awesome!
The interview was less daunting then I expected and went probably as good as it could! Thanks to you all for helping out and being supportive, best wishes to you as your journeys progress!

I have sold or donated a lot of my things to make the move easier. It was hard to purge most of my things but it really makes a big difference in cost. I am only bringing my bedroom set, bed, and personal items (clothes etc.).
I am using U-pack to move and have found them to be the best affordable option. I have packed everything in clear plastic containers so all the contents are visible and have also attached a list of articles in each box. I dont have any 'new' items, so I am not sure if I need to associate a value with them. Everything is at least a year old... minus a few clothing pieces.
I do know that the import document, a copy of the visa and passport need to be given to the driver before they can move your items. U-pack will take all items thru customs for you and you don't have to be present for them to do so. BUT, a smooth importing is based on this form so I really dont want to mess it up! As i get more info about it I will post to hopefully make it easier.

While I'm still packing up my belongings that I'll take when the time comes, I'm taping a complete list of items in each box, then I'll sit and figure out roughly the replacement value of the items in each box as well.
I have looked at the form, and I must say parts of it are rather confusing ....
for example, are we supposed to give this form to the movers here in Canada prior to having landed/crossed the border?, or do we get to the US and fax the 3299 form to the moving company afterwards? (which makes sense, although I have yet to figure out any details about how long my belongings will sit in storage with the movers prior to them being able to bring it to me in the US or what other options exist regarding this - please feel free to offer advice in this matter)
I now also realize that we mark the form as a Non resident as per the instructions -https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/1467/~/instructions-for-cbp-form-3299---declaration-for-free-entry-of-unaccompanied:
Non resident: First-time immigrants to the United States are considered to be
And even though I'll sell the vast majority of my belongings before I come, my list of articles in part D will need many pages if we're to itemize what's being shipped over.
I also look forward to hearing any more responses to your question hopeful_canadian:)

Canadians,
Have you started filling out the CBP-3299 importing document needed to move your goods across the border? If so, how are you valuing your used goods aka furniture and clothes etc?
Thanks bunches

Will we need to provide an updated i864 and 2013 tax returns at the interview?

I just got off the phone with NVC. My interview is on April 2nd! YAY!
Looks like we will be at the consulate on the same day! Congrats on getting your interview date! maybe we can help each other out the rest of the way!
-
Congratulations. You are now updated. Canada is on Fire.
Thank you!
Fingers crossed that everyone gets there interview dates ASAP!
-

Hi!
Was just informed that my case is now completed at Nvc and the next step is scheduling an interview.
Any Canadians that are currently, or have recently waited on an interview for a cr-1/ ir-1 in Montreal, how long from case complete to interview date at the consulate?
Thanks!
-
Case complete!
So happy right now
Saylin, please add my case to the spreadsheet. Thanks!

Just got through finally-- they said they haven't recieved my AOS packet that I emailed on the 7th, but the operator said as long as i got the auto-reply e-mail I should be good. I didn't expect them to have looked at the IV packet yet (that was just sent friday).
he said 30 business days, where are my fellow Canadians so i can get an idea for EP?
Hey! I sent a checklist response on Jan 28 and it took until February 12th for them to confirm recieving it. Since then there have been more closures due to weather, so just hold tight. I was panicking that they hadnt successfully recieved it but it all worked out fine.
Talk about a frustrating process! lol
-
I called into NVC today and they notified me that i will be receiving a checklist for AOS package. Section 6 we put total annual income from sponsors job not the total shown on line 22 of their 2012 tax return.
This seems a little odd to me, but is this a legit checklist?
Also, will i need to send in the whole package again with evidence with a new I 864 signed by the sponsor?
Thanks,
-
For EP filers, do we have an idea the average time for NVC approval?
Thanks!

Hi guys,
Just got off the phone with NVC and I have a question.
I completed the online DS 261 of Dec. 30- the NVC accepted in on January 3rd as told by the NVC operator. When I asked when to expect the IV fee to post they said I would have to wait up to 3 weeks, is this accurate? What has everyone else been waiting after submitting the DS 261 for IV bill to post?
Thanks,
-
Hi Guys!
I have been trying to call DOS @ 202-663-1225 but it says its "a non working line at the DOS". Does anyone have the updated number?
Thanks bunches!
-
Quick Q...
I have paid AOS online and have the cover sheet for my AOS package. Can I send in all my documents now that I have the coversheet?
Thanks!
-
Ok, sheet should be up to date... everyone who has received a transfer please check here to verify your information is correct.
Not sure if this will be helpful, but our case was expedited and approved Dec 11
Congrats to all those with transfers and approvals!

Hi All! I hope everyone is having a fantastic holiday season!!
Quick Question, I filled an expedite with NVC via email- how long will it take them to respond to me?
If our request does get approved, will we still pay all the NVC bills online or will we pay at the interview?
Thank you,
-
If you don't mind me asking, why did you guys request an expedite? Just curious. You don't have to answer if you don't want to. Congrats btw!
We had multiple reasons and there is a bit of a complex back story. It was definitely a "Hail Mary" request but we felt like it was worth at least trying. We filed the expedite on grounds of compelling interest and financial loss to individual and business. In short, I went to school in the US at a state school and was on a scholarship. Essentially, my education was paid for in part by US tax dollars. I do have a job offer pending hasty visa approval which would mean I would be paying taxes shortly after POE and contributing back to the system which put me thru University. I have included an exerpt from our letter.
"My wife (full name), beneficiary of the pending I-130, was educated at XXX State University and was a recipient of a fully paid scholarship. The State paid over $XXX,XXX for her education and it is in the best interest of country and state to see an appropriate return on its educational investment."
Also, we wrote a seperate letter based on financial hardship. As we all know, being seperated from our spouses is a huge financial and emotional drain.
We included lots of evidence for each letter and I do believe involving the senator was a HUGE help to our expedite case.
Thanks for all the support and I hope everyone's petitions start moving ASAP!
Happy Holidays!
-
Wow!!!! Congrats!!!!!!!!!
I thought I was happy!! Haha! Did you guys expedite it?
Thank you!!!!!
Yes we did expedite but hadn't heard back whether it was accepted until we received the approval email from uscis
