  1. Hello Everyone,

Just want to say that I've learned a lot on these forums and really appreciate the time and information you all share. It is truly invaluable.

My question is about traveling. My wife has had her Greencard since early 2007 and we have not left the country since (she is from Mexico). We were planning a trip to Mexico but all she has is her Greencard since her Mexican passport is expired.

I've heard a view contradictory things. First, I've heard that it is sufficient to travel with only a Greencard between Canada and Mexico. I wanted to check with you all because she clearly is not eligible for a US Passport and cannot go to Mexico to renew her passport (assuming the Greencard is not enough).

Any help is very much appreciated!

    Thanks!

  2. Have you as the USC petitioner ever filed for another immigrant? Sponsored another immigrant?

Has your spouse ever been petitioned before by another USC?

    No, no, and no.

I'm sure this would have come up before we had our first interview.

    Thanks,

    TheChuunt

Well, you asked if anybody had any idea what the second interview could be about.

I've not seen that type of reason (another file must be obtained) in any prior reports.

Typically a second interview is referred to as a "Stokes Interview" and is used to help ascertain the bonafides of the marriage.

Thank you for your information. We've been together here for close to 6 months now. We have the EAD so hopefully this isn't a big deal. What exactly does "stokes interview" mean and come from?

    Thanks

  3. Hello:

It has been awhile since I've posted here. We had our AOS I-485 interview on January 5th. Went very straightforward. The officer said everything went well and we should recieve our GC in 30 days or so. We got a "continued for service action" sheet with the following checked:

"An adjudicative review of your case is needed. No additonal information is required from you at this time."

So okay we think. Everything is going well. Three days later, we get the same sheet back with the above box crossed out and the following checked:

"The Service has determined that there is another immigration file that must be obtained and reviewed before your case can be adjudicated."

So I wasn't sure at this point what that letter meant since this was only a few days after the appointment. Now, a month later we get another appointment letter (I-797C) telling us we have another appointment in March. Same as the one we received before but doesn't have any updates.

Has anyone had this occcur to them or has any idea what this is about?

I'm going to call them next week but it seems that they made an error at the local office and now we have to wait two months more!

    Go figure.

    Thanks,

    TheChuunt

  4. Thank you newoption! I appreciate your information. I wanted to make sure we do everything right the first time around to hopefully make the process as smooth as possible!

    Hello Thechuunt: Welcome and congratulations!!!

My only question that I have is what did you send for the I-693A for the I-485 AOS packet? Did you go to a Civil Service doctor and have the forms filled out?

You have to go to a Civil surgeon to fill the I-693A that is her "Vaccination Record". -She does NOT need the whole medical exam-

The thing that happened is I have my wife's forms, the DS-3025 and all that is on there is:

"Results = FIANCE" and it is signed by a panel doctor but none of the boxes are checked or any of the vaccines were verified. My wife was told in Juarez that for the fiance K-1 Visa she would not need the vaccinations??? yes, mexican fiance/fianceé are not required to have vaccinations for the medical exam. Now if she has her mexican vacc. records that will be helpful to get and fill the I-693A. Anyways, I have been reading through the forum and have had conflicting opinions on this (send DS-3025, send I-693A, certain consulates are different, etc). I wanted to double check with people here and see how you went about filling out the I-693A.

In addition, what was the charge for this? Again I've heard a range from $25 all the way to $500.

I did not have vacc. when my medical exam at Juarez, and when had to get the I-693A for the AOS, just took my mexican vaccination records and the doctor filled out the form!! it was only $50.00 -no blood tests!- Hope this helps, Good luck!

I appreciate your time and hope all is well! :D

    Best Regards and Good Luck!

  5. Hello:

I hope everyone has benefitted as much from this forum as I have! Great information and people.

My wife is now here and entered the U.S. via Cuidad Juarez.

  6. Hello,

I was wondering for those that sent the I-485 and the I-765 if you had to send two seperate biometric fees? From what I read, here is the fee breakdown:

    I-485

    $325 for application

    $70 for biometric

    I-765

    $180 for application

    $70 for biometric

Since USCIS charges so much (hah!) I want to make I sure I send the right amount.

    Best,

    Thechuunt

  7. Jbeabout….hope the wedding was beautiful! Have a great honeymoon! CONGRATS!!

Thank you!!! The wedding was great! Unfortunately Sofia was sick during the honeymoon :( but we crossed the border very quickly and with no problem at all. They didn't even check what we had in the car or ask any questions. The main question the agent had was where to send our packet. We were finished with the whole process in under 15 minutes.

Alas we finished the looooong drive from Mazatlan to Rochester and I couldn't be happier!!! :D On to the green card process!!

Congrats Jbeabout! I'm so glad that everything went as planned! Sorry to hear that your lady wasn't feeling well. I'm actually planning to do virtually the same thing as you in July...we got approved this month and are having our ceremony in July. My question is this, what do you give to the border agent? Did you have to get out of the car to submit the paperwork? We have the packet and I'm not sure if we need to park and turn that information in or just hand it over to the border agent.

Again, congratulations and finally the process is complete...at least now you both can work on things together!

    Saludos

  8. Hello Everyone:

This site has been a great resource with many wonderful and insightful people. I have a question about packet 3. This is my timeline:

    NOA 1: 11/22/2005

    NOA 2: 02/22/2006

NVC: 03/02/2006 > snail mail, stated sent to Embassy Cuidad Juarez; El Paso

Currently I have not heard anything from the embassy. I conctacted them two weeks ago and they have not received the packet. So I contact NVC again to check for delivery information and they stated that they sent it to the embassy.

In general, how long does it take for packet 3 to be sent out? One month? I'm not sure and wanted to get an idea of others experience with Cuidad Juarez Embassy. In addition, does anyone have contact information for the embassy regarding fiance visas?

    Thank you so much!

  9. Hello:

I am planning on driving in with my fiance this summer after she receives her visa in Mexico. We are planning on entering through Juarez. I have read through the forum and it seems most everyone flies in and gets the legal entry stamp at the airport. I was wondering if anyone has experience or knows about driving in with their fiance? Would I get a stamp at the border? If so by whom?

I appreciate any help and guidance!

    Thanks

    NOA 1: 11/21/2005

    NOA 2: 2/22/2006

    NVC: 3/2/2006

    Fiance from Mexico

  10. Wow, and I thought I was the only person going through this process! ;) I just received the NVC snail mail letter and am a bit confused about the I-864 and I-134. I was reading on the consulate website that they do not require this information but reading through the old thread, for K1 Visa petitioners I read that they sent the I-134 and it was okay'd for the K-1. The I-864 is for relative/AOS? Not sure. And do I send the completed packet to my fiance to present during her interview or to the consulate directly? Thanks for the help!

    I-129F

    NOA1 - 11/21/05 (CSC)

    NOA2 - 02/22/06 (CSC)

NVC letter of sending to Cuidad Juarez - 3/2/06

    Cheers

  11. You all rock! I just received an e-mail that my I-129F has been approved! This is with a NOA1 date of 11/21/2005 and the NOA2 is dated as 2/22/2006 (three months on the dot).

Thank you everyone for all your help. I was worried I would need a lawyer to put the packet together but apparently I did just fine!

Now, what should I expect after this? I know that it will be shipped to the NVC but in terms of timeline, am I looking at another three months? Just want to get a sense of what others went through.

I wish everyone the best and understand how difficult it can be to wait. But to be honest, I amazed how fast the CSC processed our application. I was expecting 6 months. Anyways, I guess the secret to life is managing expectations!

    Cheers

    Sent NOA1: 11/15/2005

    NOA1 Date: 11/21/2005

    NOA2 Date: 02/22/2006
