  1. Hi Aidan80,

I totally understand where you are coming from there. Likewise, I still think "cheque" is the proper spelling, and frankly the Americans can learn a thing or two about the proper English/British/Canadian spelling (lol..after all, the English were the ones that invented English, right?).

It's confusing here in the USA that word "check" can be used three ways:

    1) Check (noun), as in the paper bank check

    2) Check (verb), as in to double check/check something

    3) Check (noun), as in to checkmark a box on a form

So, make sure you check to see: that you check all the boxes on the form and send in the bank check. No wonder this is confusing...lol...

Ant (Prefers "cheques" not "checks", Still waiting at the VSC...)

I struggle at times to have to spell cheque check.. it's not like it's a cheque but I'm checking for something

    Good luck..

You are starting to sound like my wife. Always trying to fix the American english problems. :bonk: That's what hooked on ebonics is for. Adverbs..what good are they. :P

    Thanks for the help!

  3. Hello,

I hope this helps your cause. Your problem is a trend at the CSC when cases are transferred. We received the same RFE back in July for a lost I-693. On our RFE it stated:

The medical examination that was performed as past of your visa application is not found in the file. For that reason, it is necessary to submit the following below:

I-693 MEDICAL EXAMImation: Please submit a properly completed and signed Form I-693, Medical Examination of Aliens Seeking Adjustment of Status. The medical examination must be conducted by a physician who is on the list of Civil Surgeons approved by USCIS. (You do not have to submit the immunization supplement that you have already submitted).

As you can see above the RFE clearly states it is for the 693 not the supplement. Which is completely frustrating as we were not given a copy of the forms from the CS either and turned everything in at the boarder as required.

As like you I could not stand anymore BS and incompetence by USCIS. I suggest that you contact your US senator’s office (We used Sen. Elizabeth Dole’s immigration attorney, Carol Armstrong). All of them have immigration liaison officers that can help in this type of problem. That is the path we took to fight, unfortunately for us they (USCIS) were still not able to find our “lost” medical paperwork and we still had to submit the forms again. Thankfully the CS only charged us an additional $50 to redo the paperwork. We sent in a reply to the RFE last week and are standing by for results.

As a final note if the RFE was for the supplement, we had a local CS transcribe the vaccination results onto the I693A that we submit with our I-485.

Please let me know what your course of action is and results. We are filing a formal complaint through Sen. Dole’s office once our case is approved and I would love to pass your info onto Sen. Dole in addition to ours.

  4. Congrats and have a wonderful trip

Thanks. My husband just told me the good news. I think he forgot to mention it last night. It'll be nice to finally get out of this house and see my family. They've taken my driver's license and stuck me in suburban hell for so long, Vancouver is going to be a slice of paradise! I have to call my family. I'm so excited I can't believe it!!!!

Best of luck. Did you send in your 2nd AP with an explanation about the first or explain that you had submitted a I-131 previously and made a mistake?

As you have obviously read we are working many sides of this issue (AOS and AP) and there is varying levels of frustration. My wife is very eager to go home and visit friends and family. Especially her elderly grandmother. We were fully aware when we began the process that it takes “time” for everything to work thru the wickets. But we are trying to avoid an emergency situation and have to get the Emergency AP (with the MD's note and that process). As we approach the 90 days since filing it is tough to see others get approved and then not receive any words on our case from the supposed experts at USCIS. That is why this site is so important as a clearing house of information and individual experiences...But...that is just what it is. It is not the law. My original intent of this posting was to gather information taken with a grain of salt and then formulate my own plan of attack. I think sometimes people forget they are not immigration lawyers and say things they shouldn't. Also, if we (VJ) as a group can get together, we have the ability to voice concerns and problems with the "system" to try and make fixes. I'm going to cross threads on our AOS issue. Our case is a perfect example; we do everything right, send our applications in, they are accepted, our case is sent to the CSC and USCIS loses our K-1 medical...not our fault, a situation that appears to happen more often then usual and there in lays the problem. Do I have the ability to pay and get a new medical - yes, but then the problem continues, instead we contact people who can help and try to gather background information because the problem is becoming the norm and that is wrong. The unwanted lectures in this thread by some were not needed. Yes, all cases are different and we are not going to abandon the process but there are alternatives for us, to some they may not have the ability to pursue those alternatives because of time, money, etc..we do and I’m willing to push back. That is not bullheadedness but the right thing to do. Some feel differently and that is ok

Thanks again for your thoughts and ideas on this and the other threads we have talked on.

    Cheers

    Nick

  6. Hello

    Our Infopass adventure: :crying:

Driving – 8 hours from one side of NC to the other

    Gas - $69 for a tank and ½

Hotel - $95 to stay over night to get back and work the next day

Infopass – completely and utterly worthless! No help, same

information as the national hotline and no use to plea for our advance parole

    (AP) to get approved.

So that leaves us pretty much nowhere. If the AP is not approved by the end of the month where does it leave us? My wife is still planning on traveling on 1 September back to Canada. Can she still go to Canada and I mail or bring the paperwork with me? Although I know this isn’t the right way to do this, does immigration know? I need some real world experiences (not the lecture) to formulate a plan. Can anyone help?

    Thanks in advance.
