  1. Anyone else in here has been asked to provide another police clearance cert from their home country and also from the county they're living in in the states? I'm really pissed off at this stage! First my fingerprints were not acceptable to the FBI, have to back to have them redone next week and now this! They were not readable, surely the fault of the technician. I've already provided the police clearance cert from the time I applied for my CR1, up until May 2014 and now I have to pay for another one for the previous 5 years from now. Also in this state where I live now. I've never even had a parking ticket! Arghhhh.

  2. Still no appointment letter for 2nd biometrics. My husband joining me in Ireland next week, knowing our luck my appointment will arrive when he leaves. Thankfully our Neighbour is going to look for it in our post and send it to us in Ireland. But we're not back in the US until July 11th so we may have reschedule again. Anyone have any problems with rescheduling for a second time?

  3. Arghhhhh. I had my biometrics done in March, there seemed to be problem except that the technician had to do the fingerprints a few times, which is usually the case, with me anyway, I must have odd fingers! So after having them done I assumed I was free to go visit my family in Ireland for 3 months. I arrived here in Ireland on Tuesday this week. My husband is joining me on June 1st and we are returning on July 11th. Well, it's fortunate that my husband was still at home as a letter arrived yesterday from USCIS saying that I would have to take the biometrics again as the fingerprint was not readable and they had given me an appointment for April 29th, ( at no extra charge as the fault lies with them, kind of them) . So my husband has sent them a letter with a request to reschedule in July when we get back. Now I'm really worried that they will not reschedule at a time that suits us. My husband also asked would it be possible to have the bio done at either the embassy in Dublin or the consulate in Belfast. Any thoughts anyone? Or has this happened to anyone else on here.

  4. I know, that was my first thought too. I really didn't think that they'd be so critical of our money spending habits. I can show that we've been writing checks to the same places to pay our rent and other bills, but just because they don't come from the same place, that's all they care about? And we haven't had children because we honestly wouldn't be able to afford them. Are we supposed to drown ourselves in debt to prove our love? It's insulting and degrading. I'm just going to send as much as I can and just include a letter explaining that we have done our best to stay out of debt and contracts because we were trying to be safe with our limited finances. I really wish you the best of luck. I was so excited to see we got a letter from them... I was hoping for good news, and when I saw the letter my heart just sunk to the floor.

I don't have a will. Do you know where I could get information for how to create one? Is that something I need to get officially from a lawyer or can I just type up a document and get it notarized?

Go to LegalZoom online to do your wills. Not expensive, quick and easy.

  5. Probably a stupid question but when or how do you get the extension letter that has been mentioned. I won't be submitting my 751 until mid February 2016 but was just looking at the processing times and they're longer than I anticipated! I had thought it would be processed within the 90 days. Silly me, I should remember my experience with the CR1! I want to go home to Ireland in May next year! ?

  6. I've been in the U S for just over a year now. It's been a learning curve, sometimes sad, ( I miss my family in Ireland even though we've already been back for a 3 month holiday!) but I love it here in WA. Am now the proud owner of a WA driving license, had to do both the theory and actual driving test. Just checking in to this forum as we are already thinking about the next step, i751. Hope everything going well with all the April/May 2013 CR1 filers.

  7. Whomever you talked to at the SSA was stupid.

    Follow the instructions here: http://www.ssa.gov/ssnumber/

If you get another dumb person ask for a supervisor or just go to a different SSA office.

The stamp beside your visa makes it endorsed and thus is your temporary green card.

Have you paid the New immigrant fee on ELIS?

Yes We paid the $165.00 before I left Ireland. Thanks for the info, will go to a different SSO.

  8. I entered the US on 14th May and have still not received my social security no. or my green card. My husband and I went to our local Social Security office this morning to apply for my social security card and was told it could not be processed without an I 194. ?? I entered the US from Dublin which has a US Customs Clearance. I handed over the envelope from the Embassy and had my Passport stamped endorsed. I understood that this would generate the production of my Social security card and my temporary green card. Anyone else have this problem?
