  1. Hello everyone,

I am in a tight spot and really need some guidance.

My father is an LPR and I, a USC, signed an affidavit of support for him.

He then filed for my half siblings and I signed as a joint sponsor for them. All 4 got their GCs and have been living with me for the past 2 years.

    A few questions:

    1. One of them has become a problem, he has received school loans but wasted it away. I know his father is primarily responsible for any financial mess-up; however how long before this responsibility trickles to me? Immediately it's overdue?

    2. What are the rights of a joint sponsor? I see their obligations and responsibilities but I haven't come across their rights. Do sponsors and joint sponsors have ANY rights?

    3. If I want to send this 25-year old back, what are my options if he has not committed an offense? I want to count my losses and send him back before he incurs more debts for which I will be responsible, but it seems I have no legal grounds at all...any guidance?

Any help will be very appreciated.

  2. Congratutaion on your approval.Stll can you please share part of your experience with the consulate and question asked during interview. Thanks and congrat once again.

This is what I posted on the consulate review. I hope it helps.

Unfortunately this is a secondhand review however, I will try to be as accurate as possible.

My fiancé went to the interview and said the questions were quite few. He was interviewed by an African-American lady. The questions were brief:

What is the name of your fiancée? RCTN

How did you guys meet? Met through her friend whose daughter was my niece's best friend...it's complicated (and it is...LOL)

When did you meet her? We met in London

Oh, you lived in London? Yes went there for my higher education

Has she met your family? Yes and he showed pics we took when I visited him and his family in Aug.

Ok, you're approved. Collect your passport in 5 working days. Yay!

In our original I-129 application, we included practically "everything in the kitchen sink" to ensure there is no iota of doubt about the legitimacy of our relationship.

So flight plans in tow and the next phase of our lives ahead!

    Thanks ya'll!

  3. Hello how are you my name is Antonio and I am just beginning this process. My fiancée is in Ethiopia and we just finishing filling out the forms . I have 3 questions to ask if you don't mind. My fiancée sent me the 325 A form and the Intent to marry form but I heard someone say that her signature cannot be photo copied she signed it with a pen but made a copy and emailed it back to me will that be ok? Also how long does the initial process take to find out if your application is excepted? Thanks for taking the time to read this. Take care and congrats.

    Hello Antonio,

You have to have an original signature, copies of signatures are not acceptable for the documents you mentioned.

If you mean accepted as in received by USCIS, you will know that as soon as the package is delivered if you mailed the package with a tracking number.

If you mean accepted as in reviewed by USCIS for completeness, that takes a few days to a few weeks after which you will get your NOA1.

Hope this helps and the best of luck in your journey.

    Regards.

  4. Hello,

Thanks for this incredibly detailed and extremely helpful post. I just want to clarify one thing for me...

If I file the AOS, EAD and AP all at the same time, then I'll only have to pay $1070. I was thinking I would have to pay:

    $1070 for AOS

    $465 for EAD

    $445 for AP

But you're saying only $1070 for all 3 if filed at the same time?

Just want to be clear pls.

Also do you get the EAD and AP first or do they not really put any priority to issuing the documents?

When can a k1visa holder apply for a SSN? Before or after marriage?

Sorry for the many of questions...

  5. Hello fellow VJers,

I hope I'm posting this in the right forum. I'm just planning ahead but wondering which I should file once my fiancé arrives in the US. I have read that both applications take about the same amount of processing time and I don't want to file both (at least not at the same time) if I don't need to. If the I-765 can be processed quickly then I will file that first and not rush a court wedding however if they are processed at the same 3 months then I can rush a court wedding and file the I-485.

Can someone please help explain to me the pros and cons of filing either or both?

Again apologies if this is the wrong forum.

    Cheers,

Eager anticipant of fiancée's K1 visa interview

  6. Hello guys,

I've been religiously following this site, I wish I knew about it years ago but better late than never...I have a question about the packages, at what milestones are they received and what do they contain?

After my NOA2 was received, I started calling the NVC to see if they've received the package. I finally got through last week and I have been assigned an NVC case number starting with LGS. I then checked on the CEAS site and it didn't recognize the NVC case number.

I still haven't received a letter from NVC that they've received and are reviewing my case, and I'm not sure what I'm waiting for.

Can someone please explain what the next steps are? My fiancé is already preparing the documents but I'm not sure what we're waiting for. Patience with this process is indeed a virtue! ?

    Any help is appreciated.
