It seems like the EO is targeting the 7 specific countries.

As a side note: I highly doubt the order barring current LPR's from those countries will remain intact for very long. It's already been blocked for now :)

LPR's belong here. This is as much their home as it is my home as a natural-born USC . LPR's went through an incredibly mentally taxing and emotionally stressful process just to be here; the general public won't let them be kept from their home.

The judge only stayed the removal of people (including greencard holders from those 7 countries) who were already here and being detained or in transit to the US. All others who have not boarded a flight are still blocked from boarding a flight home.

I don't see why it would have any affect as you're already a permanent resident :) Seems like it's only going to affect people who are in the process of coming over on a visa, such as a K-1, from those selected countries. They'll have to wait until the 90 day ban ends before they can enter on their visas, or at least that's how I understood it.

The EO uses the word "Alien" - anyone who is not a Citizen technically falls into that category. If I was a GC holder from one of those countries listed I would not being going anywhere until there is some clarification.

  3. Wow, you would think usps could make it simper to forward mails. Just as a side note, a few years back USCIS used to print "do not forward , return to sender if undeliverable" on all outgoing envelops containing permanet resident cards. I don't know if that is still the case, but if it is then that would explain why USPS didn't forward the envelope containing your new card the 1st time around. In the event this upcoming 2nd forward is still unsuccessful or gets returned to the old address again, you could ask your old neighbor to put it in a new envelope with your new address (the postage and tracking fee can be pre-paid by you online). Good luck, and hopefully that 2nd forward worked.

Thanks. USPS forwarded my approval letter (it arrived with a yellow forward address label), and the envelope just has the USCIS logo on it, nothing that says do not forward or return service request. I do wish my neighbor had just put it in a new envelope, but I was just thankful she went and got it for me lol. I'll keep everyone updated, hopefully it will arrive soon...

  4. Well I still don't have my GreenCard thanks to USPS. The approval letter was forwarded to my new address by USPS, it was sent August 30th and I only got it yesterday. My card was delivered to my old address, my neighbor picked it up and took it to the post office, it was sent out and after a week ended up back at my old local post office in New York. So it was forwarded again on Monday (thank goodness I called and the lady got her hands on it before it was delivered again). This time the tracking shows a forward, so hopefully it will arrive here in Texas shortly.

My approval notice was signed by the Buffalo office and it is on official USCIS paper (like the NOA), not on a simple white sheet of paper.

  5. The timing to be honest was a bit of a mess. I got the original approval update online on August 31st. I changed addresses with USCIS on August 30th. So literally it all happened at once. Not transfer and as of yet the greencard is the only thing that has been physically sent out. My neighbor has it in her possession and confirmed the tracking number to me.

No doubt the approval letter has been returned to USCIS who will then hopefully send it to the correct address once they see my change of address in the system.

No worries ask as many questions as you want!

Do u mind me asking when did u apply for ROC?

    Look at my signature :)

  6. How exciting, I logged into USCIS expecting to see the same old message and found:

On August 31, 2016, we ordered your new card for Receipt Number EACXXX, and will mail it to the address you gave us. If you move, go towww.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

A little bit nervous as I filed a change of address just a couple of days ago. I hope it has made it into the system. Will probably call USCIS in the morning to make sure the card does get sent to our new address (new state). USPS mail forwarding already setup.

Super happy it's approved but possibly the worst timing due to our move lol.

  7. When I was getting biometrics last week a lady arrived who was renewing her greencard - I overheard the officer at the biometrics counter say that she would extend her greencard while she waited for the new one to arrive. A few minutes later she called the lady back up to the desk and explained she'd extended the greencard and had put a "sticker" on the card to indicate that.

I wonder if they only do this for the 10 year cards? This seemed much more sensible than taking the card away and replacing it with a passport stamp - especially since you are supposed to always carry your card with you by law.
