you have to be a lpr for 3 years and married to a usc for 3 years or only have been a lpr for 5 years. and you can apply 90 days prior for either path.

No but I mean do you have to apply like asap as soon as you're eligible? Like I don't really have the money to apply right now for Citizenship but I don't know if there is a timeline where you MUST apply for Citizenship before a certain date.

  2. Hi everyone,

I went for an InfoPass appointment at 9:30am today at the Seattle office and just wanted to give an update.

    1. My passport was stamped! 1-year extension. My NOA date is June 20th but my GC expiry date isn't until July 16th, so I went into it knowing they could tell me to come back closer to the 30 day mark - but I explained that my manager (for the job I started 2 months ago) was wanting to have that information on record ASAP, and that I'd like to travel to Canada soon without any worries in regards to timing, also that it was hard for me to get off work to make an InfoPass. He stamped it no problem.

    2. I asked when I could apply for citizenship, he said as soon as my ROC is approved.

    3. I asked if my case had been touched at all, he said no.

    4. I asked about that fact that I filed at VSC, but now live in Washington. He said my case would still be processed at VSC, but then transferred over to the Seattle office if there is a request for an interview. He told me to follow up with the USCIS (via service request I think) to make sure my case was flagged due to my COA and relocation to the West Coast. Does that mean it would be approved sooner or approved less quick because it would start all over at a new office? He was kind of soft spoken and stern so I didn't ask a whole lot of questions.

Would love some feedback from anyone.

  3. Alright guys, so I went ahead and made an InfoPass appointment for May 18th. My GC doesn't expire until July 16th, extension letter is dated June 20th, but my new job is wanting to make sure I am eligible to keep working for them (obviously) but I explained that cases are taking longer so I have to go and get a stamp in my passport to extend me another year etc. It might be too early and they could tell me to come back but I'd rather try to go earlier, and possibly get it over with, then for some reason wait and not be able to get an appointment.

It says to bring any documents relating to your case: so extension letter? I did a COA, so confirmation from that as well?

Also I've noticed all of my receipt numbers on my documents are either two different ones, or one that doesn't populate anything when I go to check my status. Like for example, the one I have on my COA confirmation from USCIS doesn't work if I go to look up my status. So, for making the appointment I put the other one that does work, even though that one sometimes isn't listed on all the documents, just some of them. Is that normal?

  4. Okay guys, so I know this has already been discussed, but when can we make an InfoPass to get a stamp? Within a month from the date on the extension letter or within a month of the expiry on my GC?

The date on my extension letter is in June, but my GC expiry date is July 16.

It's hard for me to get off work so I want to make sure I go within the correct 30-day window, so I don't show up early and have them say they can't stamp me yet.

    Advice appreciated!

  5. I received a letter in the mail that the USCIS received and changed my address, hurray! Still haven't received anything regarding my sponsor's COA but I did send it regular mail (and all the other times I sent it did take a little longer before they sent me a confirmation notice in the mail) but as long as the USCIS has the new address under MY name, the GC/approval should go to this address now, correct?

It has to be within a month of when the extension expires.

Even if you were to be going on a trip or anything you couldn't do it earlier? (I'm not, just curious.)

That sort of makes me anxious because even when I looked into making an InfoPass appointment re: my COA, there was no availability with a 2 week time span so what if there are no open appointments?

  7. Guys I'm stressing out. In my move I somehow lost my form with my Receipt # on it which I need to do a Change of Address. I literally had it in my hand a few days before we moved, I have no idea where it could have gone to as I'm an extremely organized person. I called the USCIS twice and both times they said a tier-2 officer was not available - so they put in a service request on Thursday for a tier-2 to contact me with my Receipt # information but said it could take 3-5 business days. I'm getting nervous seeing all these approvals (although not for VSC) and I'm getting concerned they won't get my Change of Address in time. Sigh!

  8. Can someone please link me to the correct steps to file a Change of Address with a pending 1-751 application? Does my spouse (the original sponsor) have to file something too?

I've filed a Change of Address twice before but it was in between my AOS approval and my ROC so it wasn't when any application was pending. I've read online that I can do the AR-11 and the COA online together, so is that everything?

I JUST moved to my new city (was on the road for 4 days) and moving into my apartment tomorrow - obviously I'm wanting to change everything over ASAP but don't want to miss anything.

I'm a VSC filer and I'm not worried about my GC being sent to me while I was travelling (just based on the fact that they just started approving CSC filers) but I also did to a COA/forward with my post office too.

  9. I'm a June filer and I'm moving from Alabama to Seattle on March 14th and as VSC is being slow, I'm sort of thankful just so I can get moved in and then do a change of address etc online. I'm temporarily having all my mail sent to a PO box I'm opening, but I know I can't have my USCIS address sent to a PO box, right? I don't expect to hear anything anyways in the small time frame (maybe 2 weeks) between leaving my current address and moving to a new one, but still I want to make sure I'm doing the best thing.

  10. So my job is transferring me to Colorado at the beginning of the year. Since I filed with VSC, I don't really expect to hear anything about my application until Spring of next year. (From other threads, looks like VSC is taking around a year.) Of course they could always issue a RFE.

We will likely be in a hotel for a few days until we can look at some rentals in person, so should I do a change of address to my mother-in-laws address temporarily, and then submit another one when I sign a lease? I've read before you're not suppose to list an address as yours if you're not physically living at it, but I'd feel more comfortable doing that, even if it's only for a week, than risk anything be sent to an address in a state I won't be residing in.

Obviously moving isn't ideal during the ROC process but I was offered a position I can't turn with relocation being paid for.

    Thoughts?
