  1. For first question, Part 5 number 1 you should enter "1" since you only sponsor your wife. Part 5 number 3 you will enter "0" or don't put any number there. I know this part is asking for your wife, but it only use if you are sponsoring someone other than your wife. Example if you sponsoring your wife's parent, then you will enter "1" here. Part 5 number 8 you will then enter "2" for total household size. You do not count anyone twice.

For second question, if your son is not your dependent children, which means if you do not claim him then you don't need to put "1" in part 5 number 4. You can have 20 kids, as long as you don't claim any of them you can still put "0" there. So Part 5 number 8 should still be "2", you and your wife.

  2. Actually my wife is opposite of meek and shy, if she was tick off anymore that day she could have punch someone in the face. All those things they said in the counseling only work for girls that never been to a real world. I just think some people work there aren't really nice people. It's like going to DMV, some people there just don't care how much hassle you gone thru to get to that counter. You miss one paper they send you back and go thru that line again. Like I said everyone may have different experience there. I just wanted to showed my side of story disapproving how CFO run things.

  3. I'm confused,

]I have police clearance from two countries (Saudi Arabia and Netherlands) i translated the originals to english, if I submit this original at nvc stage, what to submit for interview package?? I don’t have certified copies only the original and I don’t know where to get certified copies?

u may have to photocopy them and send along with the originals..that way u can get them back and theyll keep your photocopies. call nvc about it

by the way.. my dad worked in saudi before (jeddah and dammam) and it has been 16 yrs. ago. he told me they dont issue police clearance before and i read too that they wont issue one if u no longer reside in the kingdom and to 3rd national country..

so no need to obtain one?

I assuming OP is a Saudi citizen, so police record is required. I guess you just get 2 original police records if they don't do certifies. I think you can get as many as you want, just have to pay more money.

  4. I suggest use DHL or UPS to send international express mail. They are usually more fast and reliable. Sure it cost more than local post but sending important paper you want to get there safe and on time. In your case I don't think they will accept a copy if they clearly stated you can't send copy. You can surely try, but remember if you get a check list, that's extra time you have to wait. So it's your choice. I will suggest your husband get another cert copy and send again in the mean time in case they send you a check list for it.

  5. Everyone's experience is different I understand. However I don't agree everyone is nice in CFO. My wife had very bad experience from CFO 2 days ago. First they asked her to get some paperwork, she came back with it and they said everything was good. After paying they started the counseling, instead of really "counseling". The woman asked questions like "do you really love your husband or just trying to be gold digger". Telling her in America husbands beat their wives. etc. I know they tried to be "real" but at least a bit professional, don't be an you know what. She already mad at that point, but she still tried to be nice and smile. After the counseling, they asked her for my birth certificate. My wife asked the woman why the website didn't stated that and also why didn't they ask for that before paying the money. Since whole day was gone, I told her go back next day and try use the copy of my passport. She said the same woman saw her next day and very rudely closed the window. She tried to ask another people, but they told her come back after 1pm ( It was at 7:30am) At the moment she couldn't take it no more, fed up and left. I told her just wait till I'm there at March and we go there together.

So I totally understand Stronggold and whoever had bad experience at CFO.

  6. yeah thats wh im confused.. some of them didnt get police certs, and some did.. Well I intend to get those, problem is they issued me a certificate stating my years of residency and no records stamped and signed but no pic and thumbmark and not the generic blue colored police clearance. So I wanna know which of the two of them are acceptable.

Well thank you anyway.. Youve been very helpfulbiggrin.png

In our case, my wife got both NBI and local police records for me to send. She worked in other country before so I don't know if its different than your case. One says for US, one just says for aboard. For the local one the form don't have picture, but they attach her pic on there. So far NVC still reviewing so I can't tell you if we are good or need more doc. My advice is send all the records you have.(the NBI one is a must) I don't think it hurts the process to send too much doc, but not enough it's going to delay the process.

  7. I don't think there are options here. If the parents insist their daughter to marry first then you will have to marry first. Since your fiancee is too young and need them write the permission statement. Using K1 is most unlikely will happen. Also forget about "fake wedding" in the church. Marrying in catholic church is not simple as just show up one day and be done within half hour like Vegas. The church need to verify you both are catholic also you need to have sponsor (witness) to sign the marriage contract in the wedding. It's way cheaper to do the real thing than paying so many people to fake it. But for option 2, I don't know if getting a Civil is a good idea. If the mom is very religious, she's not going to like you doing a Civil wedding. Also, doing a Civil may not be good for the CR1 visa, just IMO. The picture of the "wedding" may not be good proof for relationship. I say just do the real thing and get it over with. I'm mean my wife and I did it. CR1 sure sucks, it's 1 year now we still at NVC stage. But still I'm not regretting we got marry first, we have good memory from the wedding. I can't imaging what kind of memory we have if we just did a Civil first.

Side note: I am Chinese also. My wife's family don't have problem with me. Everyone seems happy every time they see me. Just be pleasant, eat the same food they eat, drink the same drink they drink, relax you are in the Philippines not the US. Don't forget to bring gifts, especially your future mother and father in law.

  8. aaron2020 is correct. The sister in law send in I-864, not I-864a. Only case that someone will send I-864a: If the sister is married and filed joint tax with her husband, then the husband will have to fill out I-864a.

  9. I read somewhere i don't recall you can not combine but can you have more than one joint sponsor is there a limit on how many joint sponsors you can have ?

My parents want to sponsor however we they make below poverty guide lines in total including my husband we are 7 people that would reside in our house?

my parents and to younger siblings myself and my child and of course my husband

My parents only received refund for 4 people however they always list all of us even there kids over 21 do we exclude all those over 21 i am 21 as well does that mater?

i know it all crazy please help(:

My parent once filed for one of my siblings a long while back they had a co sponsor but they combined is that possible anymore?

For your first question, Yes. You can have more than one joint sponsor. However each sponsor must meet the 125% of the U.S. poverty level for their household size. They can not combine their income to meet the 125%. So if you find someone can do that by themselves, don't bother using your parents income. From what I gather, your parents income may not be over 125% since they claim so many people.

For your parents I-864. If they file joint tax, then the main sponsor lets say your father for example will fill out I-864. Your mother will fill out I-864a. For your siblings who have income and also live in the same house, you father will put them on "part 5, number 7" of I-864. This will add their incomes but also will increase the household size. In this case, each one of them listed will have to fill out I-864a. Since you are using their income. If you think they don't make enough money to help, then your father don't need to include them in the household size since your parents never claim them as dependents on the tax. If your parents claimed any people on the tax, your father will have to list them on the household size. No matter where these people lived, related or not related to you, under 21 or over 21.

I may misunderstand some of your info. If I got some info wrong let me know. Also don't forget you as petitioner have to fill out I-864 no matter you have income or not.

  10. Don't do CR1, CR1 sucks. If I have a another chance, I pick K1. My file got stuck in NSC for more than 6 moths, No one touched it. Then they transfer it to CSC after realize they don't have time to look at it. Heck if I was doing K1, my wife could have got the visa already at that time. Instead now one year pass... our case still at NVC. Even if I need to fill out 100 more form and pay 5 times more money, I still rather pick K1.

  11. How long does it usually take for NVC to respond thru email? Better off just calling or email? In the email I included petitioner name and birthday, beneicifiary name and birthday and than the receipt number in subject line as well as in the body of the email and requesting my case number and if it has arrived. Miss anything?

    Thanks!

I've sent 2 times before. One time was one week, another time is two weeks. So if you lucky you will get a email back in a week I believe.

  12. Thank you all for answering my questions. I'm just using the normal process. So only about 1 month? I was worry because I read all those K1 people can't find any available dates for all the way up to June. I guess CR1 don't need to worry about over booked interview dates? How much advance notice do they give you before the scheduled interview date?

The medical exam I do aware of. But the part for the $223.35 examination fee I find it weird. According the instruction, we have to pay in peso. Why don't we just pay the dollar amount if we know the dollar amount but not the peso amount???

  13. Hi all. I got 3 questions about CR1 interview. Hope someone can help me out.

    1. How long usually takes for embassy give you interview date after case completed at NVC side?

    2. Is there another form the beneficiary need to filled out to take to the interview? (Other than all those supporting documents)

    3. Do I need to pay another IV fees? I ask that because I saw in the embassy website about pay something like a $165 IV fee before the interview. I hope that's just for the K1 people not CR1.

    Thank you all for advance.

  14. As far as your brother's wife, it's depend on your brother's IRS tax transcript. Since you say the most recent tax he did was joint filed, then his wife will also need a I-864a. Because when he sending the that tax transcript as proof of income, NVC will see his wife's income as part of the transcript. Even if he send last three years transcripts and only one of them is joint filed, his wife still have to send I-864a for just that year. Yes, your brother's daughter is going to have some effect on his I-864 since he has to claim her. But like I mentioned before don't forget about other asset you all can put on the I-864. Bank account, stock, car, house etc whatever you guys owned. Good luck and hope that helps.

  15. Like aleful stated, you only need to pay the fee once no matter how many I-864 you or your sponsors filed. Also since you are the petitioner, you automatically become a sponsor. So you do have to file I-864 no matter you have income or not. If you had never filed taxes for the last three years then you need a letter explaining why. In order to help meet the income requirement there is one way other people can help you is use cash assets. The USCIS site stated: "You may add the cash value of your assets. This includes money in savings accounts, stocks, bonds, and property. To determine the amount of assets required to qualify, subtract your household income from the minimum income requirement (125% of the poverty level for your family size). You must prove the cash value of your assets is worth five times this difference (the amount left over)." So if you can borrow enough money to put in your bank account to show it in bank statement then you are fine. Also you can add your husband's asset for sponsoring.
