  1. We finally received our interview "packet" yesterday. Which is only two pieces of paper. One about the medical which you can find online. The second was a generic letter in Serbian with my husband's name and interview date/time handwritten to the top out about what to bring. Is this really the packet (#3 & 4)? On the VJ timeline it asked when packet #3 is finished. I don't understand that.

  2. Your interview package is just the interview letter and maybe a list of panel doctors. Unless your embassy has some specific requirements( Look at the website).

Now since you went through embassy I don't know if they have the nice checklist of what you submitted and what they still need. So that is the big ??

Because there have been people who go through NVC submitted documents submitted AOS and was asked to bring this and that to interview. So I can understand abit if anxiety since you are 1 week away.

Did you already finish the medical?

We are doing the medical tomorrow. 4am bus to Belgrade is not fun but we are happy to get it done and over with.

I looked on the website but there's no additional information for Belgrade. I checked the Belgrade Embassy site but couldn't find anything about the interview process. Most of the information on VJ is from K-1s so we just aren't sure, and it's not detailed at all. It is very stressful!

We just wish we knew if we need police certs and translations. We cannot get those the same day here in our town and it can takes a few days for both the official documents and translations. I just can't wait for this to be over! :bonk:

  3. Our interview is in 6 days.

Our case was expedited on October 17th, shipped to Belgrade Embassy and since then we haven't gotten any emails or snail mail. I finally called last Friday, Belgrade doesn't seem to like answering emails, and was told that not only did they receive our case from NVC but that our interview date is on November 19th and we will receive the interview packet soon. The man told me the packet was posted to our house (4 hours drive south) on Nov. 6th. We are still waiting on the mail to come. I called the embassy again today to inquire about the packet and once again was met by the rude man that told me I have plenty of time, just to wait. I asked if I could get it emailed to me or if I could come pickup a copy of it at the embassy but he said no. Six days is not "plenty of time" if I need to get more official papers and translations.

Can anyone tell me about their interview packet for a IR1/CR1 visa? Did they ask for another updated police and/or court certificate? Does the Embassy require translations? We are doubled minded because of the cost. If we need it then I would like to apply for the police certs tomorrow, but it is a lot of money for us if it is not necessary. HELP!?

  4. Hello. It usually takes about a year from start to finish for this kind of visa, although we've have been waiting 14 months so far. Right now they are under a huge backlog, of course. Calling USCIS or NVC (whichever place you're at) is always helpful. Ask very direct questions. They will not give you more than you ask for. Good luck!

And ask to talk to a superior if you don't get the answers you're looking for!

  5. EXPEDITE ACCEPTED!!!

Thank you for your email. We have notified the National Visa Center that we will accept your husband’s case for expedited processing here in Belgrade. My colleagues will be in touch with you once we receive the case from NVC regarding any corrections or missing documentation and to schedule an interview. If you have any further questions, please contact BelgradeIV@state.gov.

    Sincerely,

    Consular Section

    U.S. Embassy Belgrade

So what now? I called NVC just now but the acceptance hasn't entered their system yet. I am so happy and nervous and anxious all at the same time. How long will it take to send out our file from NVC? Has anyone had experience with an expedite at the Belgrade Embassy?! Praise God! :energy:

  6. Hi, so it looks like you got check listed. I was wondering, I was check listed for 2 things...do I redo the paperwork with changing those two things only, or because we are doing assets only which requires me to put the contents of our savings, should I do an updated version of that, too? Basically do I just do what was asked?

Just curious what you did :goofy:

I would call NVC first to make sure exactly what they want. I didn't call because the emailed checklist was self-explanatory, but I was screwed because NVC sent me the wrong checklist....which I didn't find out until we were already into September.

Fill out all new forms. Do not just fix the mistakes on the old form. But seriously call NVC first and ask for a supervisor to explain your checklist to you. Make sure you understand it before you get off the phone. All the supervisors I have talked to have been helpful and are willing to answer all my questions. Good luck! I hope you get to see the GNW soon!

  7. I have an IV scan date 8/8 but I sent in a doc needed that was scanned on 9/9. Last week I called to see when my IV would be reviewed and I was informed that as of last Wendsday they are reveiwing all documents together on the most recent scan date. I was really down about this and called the next day and was told the same thing, so I see you have a scan date checklist in September so it will be until the last scan date before they review your paperwork. Unless the make more changes.

Yes, I have read a lot of people saying that. I spoke to three different reps and a supervisor multiple times last week, and they have all told me my IV documents will be reviewed by Oct 13th, my 60 days. We sent in another correction in September due to NVC mistake, so that is what we are fighting now. I am hopeful I will hear something this week, but if I do not I am willing to fight tooth and nail. I will not wait longer for a mistake that's not my own. Details in my signature. I hope this week proves productive for everyone! :)

  8. I agree with you. But I'm still leaning towards a cheap consultation with an attorney for a peace of mind.

The reason being, for the next 5 months or so of silence from the USCIS they will be wondering if they made the right decision.

Darnell named one in the post above, I suggest they at least speak with them and get real legal advice. If only to sleep peaceful at night while waiting to hear from the USCIS.

Well, we have already been in this process for over a year. We started with a K-1 visa before that, but the wait times were ridiculous. Really, if I had to do it all over again, I would have an attorney for sure.

    Best of luck!
