  1. Hello,

Do not worry. It is true that the embassy is too busy to do interview. This has happened regularly at Phnom Penh embassy this year, especially to the fiance cases.

Some had to wait almost 4 months more after the 1st interview date was rescheduled. So just prepare as usual for your next interview date. Also ceac case status will show your case is in AP.

Hope this help calm your nerve.

  2. Hello again,

Do NOT create an account to sign in to select anything about visa type. Just follow my link above, print or save as pdf file the deposit slip, send it to your fiance to print in cambodia.

He then go to ACLEDA bank in Phnom Penh. Pay the fee and keep the receipt for the interview. His receipt should also have the same CGI number from the deposit slip. That's it.

  3. Hello,

Here is the link to get deposit slip for Cambodia K1.

    http://www.ustraveldocs.com/kh/kh-svc-groupappointment.asp

After you get to the page, scroll down to K visa and select 1 from the drop box arrow.

It will then take you to the deposit page where you can print it and take it to pay for interview fee $240.

You will see there are English and Khmer instructions on the deposit slip.

Make sure there is CGI number on the slip.

  4. Megan and Tee,

As long as you have confirmed with the embassy that your case is now sitting at the embassy you just download packet 3 from the embassy web site.

In fact, the physical packet 3 that you will receive is just a one page letter telling you to download packet 3 from the web site.

As mentioned above your packet 3 items to be returned are DS-160 confirmation page, I-134 and its supporting documents, and finally the optional form 169

with checked off items applied to you.

  5. Hello Megan and Tee,

In order for the embassy to schedule an appointment for you 3 items must be returned:

    1-DS-160 confirmation page

2-Form I-134 ( supporting income tax forms and proof of employment must be included )

3-Optional Form 169 for K1. This form has check list for you to check off the item(s) that applied to you. For example: you check off item 1 to indicate you have your (beneficiary) passport in hand; item 2 to indicate to the embassy you have in your hand the original birth certificate etc...

you go through the list and finally write your PHP number, sign and date the Form 169 and send it back to the embassy with the above 2 items.

IN SHORT, the embassy wants to make sure you have all the documents needed for the interview, hence the form 169 for you to tell the embassy that

you indeed have the required items on hand and ready.

After the embassy receives the above 3 items it will give you the appointment date. You have to keep checking the weekly appointment on the embassy web site for your PHP number.

All the items you check off on the form 169 are to be presented to the CO on the day of the interview.

  6. Letter of Legal Capacity to Marry.

    Phnom Penh

I am trying to get an idea of how the new

requirement for K1 is done and accepted for the interview.

I hope those of you who have upcoming interviews as

well as the recent approved K1 members will share

    the knowledge.

1-Where did your fiance(e) obtain the letter.

Was it from head of Phum, Head of khum or head of

Srok? How low or far up the chain of local authority is acceptable by the embassy?

    2-Who did the translation?

Does it need to be a government bureau (same as police report translation) or you can translate it yourself?

    3-Cost???

    Thanks

  7. Any time you can call NVC and get the PHP number if you know your case had been sent to NVC for at least one week.

You have to have all the information about the case such as name, date of birth etc.. if you talk to a human.

If you talk to machine just give CSC number and machine will tell you the case status and the assigned PHP number.

  8. Hello Cambodian petitioners:

I hope you can shares some of your experiences and in turn I will share these information to fellow Khmer who also are in the process of K1.

1- Did you front load the evidence of relationship ( phone log, email etc..) OR wait to submit them at the time of interview in Phnom Penh.

2- How did the embassy get packet 3 to you? Was it sent to you from Cambodia OR your fiance(e) received it in Cambodia.

3- How packet 4 get to you or your fiance(e)

4- I would appreciate your brief/detailed experiences about your process and interview at the Phnom Penh embassy. It is very valuable to read firsthand

account of the people who went through the interview.

    Thanks

  9. Let's put this topic to rest. New instruction on check list from Phnom Penh embassy now includes the new requirement for beneficiary in Cambodia to obtain this " Letter of legal capacity of marry" for interview ".

For the USC petitioner, there is no requirement anywhere I could find about having the "certificate of martial status" for K1.

This certificate is for CR1 (husband/wife) case only. USC will need this to get married in Cambodia as required by Cambodian government.

Now USA is doing the same thing to Cambodian who comes to the US to be married, hence the new requirement for " Letter of legal capacity of marry".
