  1. Even if you by any chance go through aos interview you will have huge problem to remove conditions in 2 years if you wont start co-mingling.

We don't believe in joint accounts, since we both have different jobs and different incomes. I save what I can and he saves what he can. I just think this whole thing it's ridiculous, and I should not have to worry about being separated from the love of my life because something silly like that.

  2. Hi!

My husband and I have our interview coming up in a few days, and we are a little worried about the supporting documents we should bring to it. We don't have any joint accounts, no mortgages, no leases (we rent a room at our brother and sister in law's house so we can save up for a house), nothing. We are thinking of bringing pictures, but we're worried they might not care about them, and not approve our marriage. What should we do? I am so worried...

  3. Are you both on say the same car insurance policy? Do you pay rent and if so, does the lease say both names or can the landlord provide a letter saying you both live there.

I would suggest opening up a joint account anyways and show proof of this at the interview.

No...We are renting half of a small apartment with his brother and sister in law, and the car is his...He had it even before we met. He pays all the bills, which go trough his brother and sister in law since we are living with them but the apartment lease is theirs. He pays for our part of rent and bills while I pay for food, dates and stuff. We were thinking that we might have to open a bank account together, even though we don't believe in joint bank accounts because of past stories we have seen and heard.

  4. Hi!

I have just noticed that my status on the USCIS website changed from "Acceptance" to "Testing and Interview".

I have also read on a website the list of documents that I should bring, but we don't have any of that. We don't have an insurance yet, cause we're waiting for me to be able to get a job, and my husband to be out of his family's; we have different bank accounts because we don't believe in a common one, and we are way too young to have a mortgage debt. Suggestions? Also any tips and tricks are very welcome.

  5. no you dont need to renew your I-20 n if you do thn it cud actualy confuse your process nd your intention is not to stay in the US your intention is now to stay in the US as a husband of a US citiezen. as long as your AOS is pending your considered in status. nd you cant work on expired I-20 wait for your EAD to be aprroved. I hope tht helps, good luck smile.png

Awesome! Thank you all so much for you help!

  6. Oh, holy ####... Mormon...

BYU? Are you Mormon? Why would you go there?

I still vote for ignoring them.

Well, let's just say that my family is mormon and I thought it'd be convenient. It seems like they are getting mad at me for leaving the college, almost as if they're losing a member of their church. This whole experience made me become an atheist though. That's how sneaky and lame mormons are.

Thank you for all your responses, I feel a lot better now!

  7. I am not sure I am following this. Your I-20 is expired, and your school wants to renew it by making it appear as if you left the country and came back? Why do they want to do that? Your I-94 says D/S and you are still in school, right?

You don't need to renew your I-20 anymore because you are adjusting status. You could drop out of school and it doesn't matter.

No, I am not going to attend the College anymore. I got married and applied for an AoS while on the student visa, with everything being 100% legal. I am still a student with a valid I-20, but I am leaving the college while I wait for the AoS. Since I won't be attending this next semester they want to make my I-20 look like I am going back home, so that they won't take responsibility if something goes wrong. Does it make sense? It's a weird situation...

  8. Hi,

I have a question. I got married in May while I was on an F1 visa. I am still on an F1 visa, and I have only been working this last semester. I have already applied for the Adjustment of Status, work permit and travel permit, and I have already had my biometrics taken. My question is: If I don't renew my I-20 now is there any risk that I will be refused the adjustment of status or the work/travel permit?
