Two copies are sent to the consulate in response to Packet 3 letter. Three copies are needed at the medical interview. Are any others needed later?
Can I just take one passport sized photo and use the same image for both cases?

LittleSparrow - Congrats on your approval. I recently asked the forum about fingerprints after seeing a conflicting post. I take it since you ordered yours online, fingerprints were not an issue!

Boston~Montreal:
Wow, that link is super helpful. It's very comprehensive and addresses a lot of questions. Wish I knew about it sooner.

Just saw this conflicting post in another forum about fingerprint requirements even for individuals **without** Canadian criminal records.
Can anyone who has just passed their interview in Montreal confirm this is indeed not necessary (as others have said)?

This would be through Montreal. I do wonder why the form asks for all these documents when you don't need to send. Is it used for other purposes? If it wasn't for this forum, I would never have known. I'm curious. Is it specified elsewhere that they should not be sent -- other than the contradictory mention on the checklist.

The actual DS156K form requires that a birth certificate, evidence of engagement, evidence of financial support, and police certificates, etc. "must be attached" I thought these weren't required until interview day. Others have said they sent off the checklist without having obtained all the documentation (ie. the police certificate) to keep things moving. Is it ok to send off the packet 3 without attaching these documents?

Since the background check is a search of the RCMP database, does it actuallly matter to the consulate which local police jurisdiction you go to request your certificate from? I don't live in Toronto, but the cost there is around $22 compared to $40+ in surrounding areas.
My guess is this is ok because they seem to accept commissionares reports and I've read about people having to get another certificate in Montreal (because the one they originally got was too old) at the time of their interview.
procedure for Montreal petitioner attending interview?
in Canada

I know the US petitioner can attend the interview in Montreal based on what others have said. On the interview confirmation, it says "Drivers, friends, extra relatives, and others not specifically named cannot be permitted to enter and will be asked to return to meet the applicant after the interview is complete". The name of the petitioner does not show up anywhere on my appointment confirmation. Just speculating but maybe they look to the NOA-2 copy for the petitioner's name? I don't have the actual NOA-2 since it was not sent to me.
Do I also need to give the consulate a heads up that I will be joined by my fiance? If so, how do I do so? Thanks!
