Many beneficiaries with Montreal have said that they never received their Packet 3. You can e-mail the consulate to ask if they have sent it out. If they have, you can submit your documents for P3.

My fiance (American) and I (Canadian) are going through the K1 process right now. After approval (hopefully), I will be living with him in the US, of course. But we have been thinking that we may eventually move to Canada. Would this be a problem at all? If we do end up wanting to take this route, would we have to wait for a certain period to be over before I apply for sponsorship for him?

Any insights would be really helpful. Thanks!

I am from Canada and I crossed the border (Windsor/Detroit tunnel) yesterday to visit my fiance. This was my first time crossing since we became engaged. The crossing was tough, as since I had a fiance and mentioned us going through the visa process and presenting a copy of our NOA2 after many questions, they almost didn't admit me. One officer said that since my fiance had filed a petition for the K1, that I am technically inadmissible because I have told them that I am an intending immigrant. I thought that having a copy of the NOA2 would be helpful, but the first officer I talked to said rather abrasively, "Who are you talking to? Are you talking to me? Do you know who we are? We ARE immigration" when I mentioned that I didn't have the original, that my fiance did, and that I would be getting it to bring to my visa interview, and that a copy wasn't enough. They asked many questions, such as where we met, when we were getting married, if I was moving in today, and wanted the address of the place I would be staying at... it was really intimidating and when I thought it'd be an easy crossing, it was definitely the most difficult. I was told that I would now be under a lot of scrutiny because of us going through the visa process, even though I said I would NOT be moving until I cross with an approved visa. I am planning to visit again in December for the holidays and am afraid I won't be able to get in. So many of you had easy crossings, and it seemed to help many if you had a copy of the NOA2, but man... that was frightening to go through!

When I went to check my vaccination records with my doctor, I only had record of one of them done! He said that a few are meant for children (like chicken pox). Does anyone know if it necessary to get those ones through a booster, or can they be waived (for instance, I've already had chicken pox)? Also, I have tested positive on a TB skin test, but my X-ray was normal. Would getting a TB test again and getting documentation that my X-ray is fine be accepted/approved at the medical exam?

that one can be medically cleared for immigration purposes. I also read that you only need a chest x-ray if you have a skin reaction of 5mm or more. When I last tested a few years ago, it was 2mm.

Do we still need to undergo treatment after moving to the US if we have inactive TB? Should I get an x-ray through my physician soon, and/or take the medication, or wait for the medical exam? I think I should be fine, but I would hate to have the process delayed by months if I find out at the medical exam that there's a problem with my lungs and I can't be cleared until I complete medical treatment.

I am still waiting for our NO2, but I am looking ahead. I have tested positive for TB in the past (skin test), but my X-ray was fine. It is my understanding that once you test positive, you will always test positive. I am wondering if I will have to undergo treatment with inactive TB (someone here said that it is a class B condition). I have also read that as long as you get your doctor to make a note that it is inactive TB and that no further treatment is required, it should be fine. I would rather not take the medication if I don't need to. I remember my doctor saying it could cause liver damage, and it has to be done for nine months. Does anyone have any thoughts?

rhirhi, would you not have to do your medical exam within four months of getting your NOA2, since the approval is valid for four months? That was my understanding... or am I mistaken?

Oh my goodness, I am so sorry to hear about these awful POEs at Detroit! I will be going entering through Detroit as well. I can't believe that they would ask such personal questions, or lay out your undergarments like the way they have. I'm so sorry for the way you were mistreated!

Also... I was surprised to read that the K1 is valid six months from the date of the medical, rather than of the visa issuance. I had never heard this until today. Can anyone explain why this is? Thank you!

Thanks for the information on evidence for domicile in the US! It was very useful! I guess even though the interview is for the K1, and Montreal requests such evidence, it'd be safer to bring it in case they ask for it. Thank you for your help!

I wonder about what we would send in for evidence of domicile in the United States if we're living at a place that is owned by one of the petitioner's relatives upon arriving in the US? Would evidence include bills and things like that which are addressed to the petitioner?
