  1. I see that I need to send my original birth certificate to my fiancé in VN but I don't have nor ever had one. When my family escaped VN in 1974 no one brought their birth certificate. In the past I have always used my Naturalization Certificate or passport when a birth certificate is required.

The website says "In case you do not have the petitioners birth certificate, the officer will review the case and provide guidance at the interview"........so I may have to go that route unless somebody has any advice.

  4. Hi this website has been very helpful. I will start to gather my paperwork needed for steps after NOA2. I looked on the timeline link on here but just wanna make sure from those have been through it so I can 100% sure I have all the right paperwork needed.

Everything is happening so quick (got my NOA2 within 1 month of sending in my I-129F) and I want to be well prepared. My fiancé is in Vietnam. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for all your help.

  6. Hi everyone, I been lurking at this forum for a while and it has really helped me filing for a K1 visa for my fiancé. After only 1 month I got my NOA2 today. I can't believe things happen so fast!

What are the next steps after NOA2?

Is there a link or something I can follow and look at in preperation for the next step in this process?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  7. My understanding is that you want to fill out I-129 F or K-1 visa( Fiance/ Fiancee ). If you want to engage then you and your fiancee do not need Single Status Affidavit. Engagement is what we called " Dam hoi" , dang ky ket hon is Married ( IR1 / CR1 type). Vietnamese people usually called Single Status Affidavit is Cong Ham Doc Than ( 300 dollars to get this one ) but this one is for marry.

Therefore, you want to bring your fiancee to US by K-1 visa ( engagement ) and will marry her within 90 days of her arrival to US then You Dont Need Single Status Affidavit. Period.

hi, thanks for your help. you've cleared up what I have been trying to read and figure out for the last 2 weeks!

  8. Hi, i'm new here. I hope somewhere out there can give me some help. I plan on going to Vietnam in December and get engaged to my girlfriend. We plan on just getting engaged (Dang Ky Ket Hon) and having an engagement party. I need to get a Single Status Affidavit in order to get it done. Can anyone tell me what's the easiest way to get this done or if I do it myself, how to get it done. I've been reading a lot on the the internet but it seems like the more I read, the more confused I get. So I hope this forum can give me a more clear and understanding of this.

Again, we don't plan on getting married....just engaged. Once I return to the USA I will start the paper work process for her to come here on a Finace Visa.

Thanks so much for your time.
