  1. My new husband had his medical in England in March, and after getting married last weekend we're now filling out our AOS package. We're confused by the I-693 though. We were under the impression that we did not need to have it filled out by a civil surgeon since his medical was in the past year and we have all the documentation for it. Is this the case? Or do we really need to make an appointment with a civil surgeon just to have it certified? Thanks!

  2. take another look, the registration number is the "A"number.

There's a number under "annotation" that starts with A, would that be it? I believe it's ten digits, but I don't have the visa in front of me to look. I just did a little research and thought anything under "annotation" meant something else. There's another number in red that starts with H on the right side.

  3. I've seen that a lot of the forms for the initial adjustment of status ask for the applicant's alien registration number, and my fiancé and I aren't sure what his is. As far as we can tell it's not printed on his visa. I'm aware that it may have been printed on the NOA2, but we believe the NOA2 was lost in the mail because we never received it. So we're unsure of what it is or if he even has one. I tried calling the USCIS and they couldn't help. Should we just leave that question on the forms blank? Will that hurt us?

  4. Hi all. My fiance and I are starting to fill out the AOS forms so we're ready to send them in after we get married in a couple weeks (he's coming to the US on a K-1 fiance visa), but there are a couple things that have already stumped us on the I-485. How do we know his alien registration number? I'm not sure exactly what that is. And what do we write as his current USCIS status?

I've heard that perhaps the alien registration number is shown on the NOA2 hard copy...but we've had problems with this. Ours never arrived. The website showed we were approved when we check it, and we obviously were approved because our case was sent to the NVC and then the embassy where we had the interview and were approved and all. We just never received the NOA2 hard copy several months ago. I've called the USCIS several times and explained it and all they ever say is for us to spend $400 and request a second copy, but I can't bring myself to do that. On the advice of others on here I'm just going to file AOS without the hard copy and hope for the best. It seems to have worked for others in the past. But if the NOA2 is also the only way of knowing his Alien Reigistration number then I'm not sure what we'll do...Any help is very much appreciated! Thank you!

  5. My fiance now has his visa in hand and will be moving to the US in late July, and we'll get married about a week after. We're very excited to have wrapped up the initial process, but now I'm worried about AOS, primarily because we never received a hard copy of the NOA2, nor did we receive an email. According to the USCIS Case Status website our I-129F was approved on November 20, 2013, only a few weeks after we filed. There was never any notice of this approval and we wouldn't have known about it except for the website. The NVC received it a couple weeks later, and now we've passed our interview and everything in London. So it's all gone very smoothly aside from that missing NOA2 notice, which I know we need for AOS. I've called the USCIS several times to discuss this with them, and it seems like each time I'm told something completely different. Mainly they tell me to file the I-824, but of course I don't want to pay $400 for an extra sheet of paper. I called once a couple months ago, spoke to a Tier 2 representative, and they were very apologetic, mentioned something about a glitch at the California Service Center, and told me they'd put a new one in the mail for me. So I was very pleased to have them solve the problem, but of course this second NOA2 was never received, and when I've called back and mentioned it they always say this is impossible and I'll just have to pay the fee because this is all somehow my fault. I've also tried asking if I have any returned mail pieces and the answer is always no. So I have no idea how this happened.

But anyway, I've seen a few posts on here of people submitting the AOS without the NOA2 and using other bits of evidence, but I'm wondering if anyone has any recent experiences with this? Would you recommend trying to submit it with other evidence, or should I just bite the bullet and pay the $400? We do have other evidence that we've been approved obviously, like our letter from the NVC, our letter with our interview time and date, a screenshot of the USCIS website saying we were approved on Nov. 20, and a scanned image of his visa, along with perhaps a document explaining that we're submitting all this in place of the NOA2 hardcopy, which was never received and we couldn't afford to pay the $400 for a second one. Anyone have any ideas on whether this would work?

  6. I had my interview yesterday and I took a backpack and my fiance took a messenger bag. We both went in fine with our phones, chargers, my Kindle (a newer one without buttons), and his iPod. I think it's safe to say that they're not that picky anymore!

  7. I, too, called the NVC for my interview date and have not yet received a letter. My interview is March 19. I did however email the embassy. They responded in 5 days and said they had mailed it on Feb. 21st. I still haven't gotten it.

Others on here have told me I could bring a copy of the email showing the confirmation. Still hoping for a letter though lol

Good luck to you! We, like everyone, are so worried about the interview....but everyone says they were Cant wait til its all done and dusted!

Yep, same thing happened to us! They said they mailed it on the 21st as well and it's still not here. But yeah, I printed out the email and I hope everything will be fine. Can't believe it's so soon now! Best of luck to you!

  8. Hey yall, sorry to keep asking so many new questions on here! But thanks for being such a big help.

My current problem is that our interview is a week from tomorrow (called the NVC and found out several days ago), but my fiance still hasn't received the official letter about it. I know this happens sometimes with London not sending out letters or having them be delayed, but is there anything we should do? I know we're supposed to take the letter to the actual interview (I live here at the moment and will go with him), but what do we do if it never arrives? Should we still show up at the embassy at the date and time the NVC told me and just explain the situation to them and hope they let us in? I suppose so. Should we call the embassy or someone else to ask about it? Maybe the letter is still on its way, but it's starting to feel pretty late now...Any advice is appreciated!

  9. Has anyone had experience in using certified copies instead of original documents (like the birth certificate) for their London interview? I know the website says that an original or certified copy is fine, but it makes me a little nervous. Does anyone know if the embassy has certain rules about how to certify documents? I looked on the website and didn't see anything, but maybe I missed it. This website (https://www.gov.uk/certifying-a-document) makes it sound pretty straightforward, but I don't know if their rules are the same as the London embassy's. My fiance's interview is in a few weeks and his birth certificate is at home with his parents, but he lives several hours away. So we're trying to decide if he should make the trip home to get the actual one, have his parents post the original, or have them certify a copy and post that.

Any help is very much appreciated!

  10. Hi guys! Yeah I followed Nich-Nicks advice and just continued as if I had received the regular letter tongue.png

It did scare me though! I was like whaaat do they think I'm giving up or something? Haha! Yeah it's an error smile.png

Off topic sorta but I have got my medical on Wednesday! Already sent the readiness form so let's hope London is quick giving out interview dates tongue.png

Good luck with it all! I'm sure it will go great! And keep us posted on how long it takes to get the interview! My fiance's medical is in the next couple weeks as well so I'm really curious how long it'll take us to get to the interview.
