  1. Thanks, so just to clarify:

"As of October 8, 2014, we are ready to schedule your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status, Receipt Number MSC**********, for an interview. We will schedule your interview and send you a notice. Please follow any instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your interview notice by November 7, 2014, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request a copy of the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address."

The same page that shows this "fluke" message should update and tell me an actual interview date when it is actually scheduled?

Thanks so much for the feedback, I really hope the interview happens before February (from what I had calculated I thought it was going to be in mid-December...)

    Best,

  2. Hello all,

I have been waiting several months to get a notice in the mail for my wife's interview appointment. We already received the AP and EAD on the 20th of October, but no sign of the interview appointment notice. I finally decided to go online and check the case status and found out that it should have arrived by last week on the 7th of November. USCIS suggested I send an e-request case inquiry about non-delivery of a notice by mail so I just did that. USCIS states that they will get back to me by the 6th of December. I have a feeling that if the interview date has already been set and we never got the notice in the mail, and we wait until the 6th to learn more about what happened, we might miss the interview!

What can I do to get a quicker confirmation about the interview appointment and the notice that supposedly was to have arrived?

    Thank you very much!

  3. Hello all,

My wife just got her EAD and AP today in the mail. We are delighted, but also still very worried about using the AP and not being able to have her come back to the U.S. I understand that there is always a chance that she could be denied entry by a random officer, but I wonder what the probability of that would be depending on her reason to go back home for a little while. The reason is two things, her mother had a stroke a few months ago and is having periodical checkups on her brain and my wife would like to accompany her mother with exams. The second reason is that my wife actually just broke her foot two weeks ago and we are in a limbo situation with restricted medical coverage from the state and she is not able to get any coverage for any follow up visits and she would easily be able to get follow up visits at a much lower cost back home.

We plan on getting all of the medical documents possible showing her mother's situation and her foot situation to have with her when she would plan on coming back, but what other suggestions or comments do you all have for us? We are scared of her leaving before the green card arrives even though we have more than enough reasons for her to go back home for a while.

    Thanks

  4. Hello all,

Please if anyone that has a similar experience or knows of similar experience could help me understand the following?

I was working full time for the past 2.5 years and left my job at the end of this July to go to Graduate School full time. On Part 6 question 5 of the I-864 form it asks for the current individual annual income.

My first instinct would be to say $0.00 since I am officially unemployed and making no more money, but what about all of the money I received between Jan.-July that I will still pay taxes for and earned? Should I count the money I made from Jan-July 2014 as my total annual income (I won't be working at least until next year so I know I won't have any more income)?

My mother will be our joint-sponsor for the AOS and the I-864 instructions seem to lean towards only reporting salary in part 5 if you are going to use that value to qualify as the sponsor (with no joint sponsor)...

I plan on submiting checkings and savings account information to show how much I can contribute and show why I am needing a joint-sponsor...

Can anybody confirm how I should proceed?

Thank you very much and have a great Sunday evening.

    Best,

  5. Hello!

Thank you for the response. Yes I wont be working during my short graduate program which unfortunately does not have any real assistantships available. Would you happen to know what 5 x the 125% requirement is at this point or where I can find that out? So just to confirm, I will be unemployed with $0 income, but with a significant savings in the bank. If my savings amount to at least 5 x the 125% (per year?) requirement that should be enough or would I also probably need a co-signer? Thanks.

  6. Hello all,

I would like to know, based on your experiences, what would be the best way to proceed for the support documents of the I-864 now that I am unemployed and starting graduate school full time. My past salary was well above the minimum requirement and my bank statement showing my savings should also show that we are above the minimum...what support documents can I show...I didn't want to think I needed a co-signer for this form. During the K-1 application for my fiance we were able to show many support documents (I was still employed) and had no issues.

    Thanks!

  7. Hello all,

I would like to know from any of you VJ veterans what you would suggest for the following situation:

My fiancee and I will most probably get married in Chicago the week she arrives on her K-1, and the next week after we will have to move cross country to California.

I understand it can be a headache to have to change addresses when you are in the middle of AOS and employment authorization etc.

The question is, what is better, going with the plan above or waiting until we have our address in California, get married in California and apply for AOS etc. all in California?

Why would one be a better idea than the other?

I welcome your comments, thank you very much!!!

    Best,

    D and C

  8. Hello VJ Community,

I have read several older topics about the I-134 form which are helpful, but I would appreciate getting some newer responses and comments on the following situation:

    1) Pay stubs: are pay stubs really necessary? The reason I ask is because I already have two letters from my employer (one stating my monthly income, permanent employment status and date hired and the other one stating my 2013 total gross and net income), letters/statements from my bank confirming my bank accounts with balance and date opened and a history of deposits in the accounts.

I also DO have all of my pay stubs from the last year, BUT this leads to my second question:

    2) Official translation of supporting documents in foreign language(s): my pay stubs are in a foreign language because I work for a foreign organization, will I have to translate these with an official certified translator? This seems like a costly, unnecessary thing to do if I already have a good amount of documents confirming my income above 125% poverty level.

What do you all think? Should I waste money and time finding someone to translate some pay stubs or is it really not necessary?

    Thanks for the comments!

  9. We got our NOA 2 yesterday 18th of October (about 1.5 months from NOA1) dated the 13 of October!

The NOA2 mentions that it will be sent to the Consulate, but from everything I have read on VJ it will spend about 2 months at the NVC...before going to the consulate

Time to get together all the other documents!

Best of luck to all...I am now sure it will take a maximum of 1.5 months for everyone from NOA1 to NOA2, ours was that short and it also included a transfer from the Texas center.

  10. Hello All,

I am very grateful for all the support this online community provides!

I would like to start an October 2013 Filers topic here to get more information about the rest of our process, espcially during this government shutdown!

I am sorry in advance that my timeline is not working, I am trying to get help from the VJ organizers to be able to post it.

The I-129F K-1 petition was sent to the TSC the 1st of October, 2013 - the first day of the government shut down (Brazilian benificiary).

Recieved the electornic NOA1 yesterday October 9th, 2013 saying that it will be forwarded to CSC.

I would like help with understanding the waiting period at CSC between NOA1 and NOA2. Also would like to understand the waiting period between NOA2 and NVC and NVC and Consulate.

I see on VJ that the current wait time is about 3 months for NOA1 to NOA2, but on the USCIS website it says 5 months. On some threads I am seeing that it is 7.5 months and on others I am seeing that they were approved in 20 days!

Is it truly 5 months between NOA1 and NOA2 or is it 5 months between NOA1 and NVC? Or is it actually 1-3 months as I am seeing on the VJ site?

    Any tips very appreciated!

    Thanks!
