I didn't think it in anyway would effect her chance of future visas either. She says in her home country they usually blame the woman for the assault, so I think it's a very different view of things than here. I thought it would be good for her to see that it's not that way here. But does anyone know if there is a case brought up against this guy if they will make her stay in this country?

I just found out a friend of my was sexually assaulted recently, and am trying to encourage her to report it because I seriously doubt it is this man's first time doing this. She is here on a student visa and is due to go back to her home country by the end of May. She's worried that if she calls the police and reports him this could effect future Visas to the U.S.. She is also concerned that this could effect her being able to go back home. Has anyone had any experience with any situations like this? Any comments appreciated! Thanks

I was thinking he'll probably get denied and/or deported also. I didn't know if it will matter since he's a minor and his Dad is an LPR.

I'm posting this for a friend of mine. Her 17 year old stepson came here a few years ago on a tourist visa, and then decided that he wanted to stay here and live with his father. I believe they have filed for AOS so he can get a green card. A couple of weeks ago he stole their car during the early morning hours. Then he got in a car accident and fled the scene. He doesn't even have a driver's license. So, now he has a court hearing about all these various charges. Does anyone have any idea what this will do for their case? They do have an attorney, but they haven't spoken to him about this yet.

Congratulations guys! makes me happy you received an answer.
it motivates me because we filed in February but we got our interview letter in June but we don't know anything after that.
Congrats!
Thanks! It feels like our cases were all put in a box somewhere and forgotten. Hopefully they started opening the box they've been setting their coffee mug on and remembered everyone.

Congratulations to both of you!
I'm waiting for GC as well. just wondering what would be the next step after receiving interview waiver letter? Did you received e-mail or text for the approval notice? and then welcome notice in mail and the later get GC card in mail?
Thanks!
Thanks! The next step is just waiting for the GC in the mail. We didn't receive an email or text. Last week I checked the site and it had moved to "card production", then "welcome letter mailed", and finally "card mailed", all within in a few days. You get the welcome letter first, and in our case the card was mailed within a few days of the letter.

Thanks for responding, BradLina. I know you don't HAVE to submit 3 years of tax transcripts. I did because I thought it gave more proof, and I thought that would be helpful, considering part of my income is from being self employed. I saw nothing on the form about showing pay stubs, so I didn't include them at all. What I'm concerned about is it being "confusing" for USCIS if or when I answer an RFE because when I filled out the form, I put that was employed by one employer and was self-employed. Now I'm employed by two different employers and my business makes very little. I still make above the guidelines, but thought a co-sponsor would be helpful, just incase. Also, I didn't send them the 2013 transcripts because I sent the packet at the end of January and didn't have them back from my employer yet, so when I sent it 2012 was my most recent filing.

I’m expecting to get an RFE because I only included 3 years of tax transcripts with my I-864. I’m the USC, and my husband came here on a k-1. So, I’m trying to figure out what the best way of answering it. I’m just trying to get everything in order, get a plan of action, so I don’t hold things up longer than necessary. Maybe I’ll be able to mail everything back as soon as the thing comes in the mail. I know that I should have included a letter from my employer and/or 6 months of paystubs, and I REALLY wish I would have done that.
Here’s my problem: Since 2010 I have been employed part-time. At my part-time job alone, I’m only about $100 short of %125 of the poverty level. I also have had my own business since 2010, and about 85% of my business income came from being a contractor with one particular company. As of January 1st the company I was contracting with forced everyone to become employees. We mailed my husband’s AOS documents at the end of January, but I didn’t put them down as a second employer because I had only received one paycheck as an employee at the time and the job is purely commission, and since I had taken off time to get married and for the honeymoon that one check was really low. I figured my total earning should be about the same as before anyways. But now I’m not sure how I should handle an RFE. Proving job #1 shouldn’t be a problem. I have paystubs and getting a letter is easy. Job #2 is the issue, especially since I didn’t even mention it on the I-864. Any suggestions on how to handle this? I was thinking about writing a letter along with the RFE explaining all of this, and including a letter from each employer along with paystubs from both jobs. Should I get a co-sponsor lined up since the one job is purely commission? Is there ANY chance that I won’t get an RFE? I mean, has anyone here ever sent just the 3 years of transcripts and NOT received an RFE?
Advice is very much appreciated. Thanks!

I thought pay stubs weren't necessary. I sent 3 years of tax transcripts. I'm hoping I don't get an RFE...

I actually came on here to post the same question. We have been stuck on acceptance since February 10th. We had Biometrics last week also. I was beginning to get concerned because all the numbers around us, except one, have all changed to RFE or testing/interviewing. Should this be a concern?

I was hoping someone who has been in our shoes, could give me a ball park idea of how long it takes to build enough credit to get a decent rate on a mortgage because my husband and I would like to buy a house in the next year or two. I’m wondering if that would be possible since he doesn’t have a credit rating. I have a great credit score, but don’t earn that much. He should be able to earn more than I do, but obviously has no credit since he just moved here on a k1. We’re taking all the steps we’ve read to build his credit. I just want to know what a realistic time frame is, as I’m sure there are plenty of other people who have been through it also. Any comments are appreciated. Thanks!

Now that our visa has been approved, guess it's time to move on to working on AOS. The work never stops. ha ha. Anyone have any special advice on this, besides what's already on this site?

My fiance had his interview this morning at London, and they told him we were approved! Thanks for all your help everyone!

We're so excited! I just called the Department of State and my fiance's interview is scheduled for November 25th in London. So, what all do we really NEED to bring to the interview in London to show proof of our relationship? It seems like London isn't as strict as some of the others, and I know they don't ask to see everything. Here's what we were thinking if anyone has had their interview in London and can let us know if we're on the right track.
- The packet that was sent with the i-129f
- Pictures from every trip
- Boarding passes
- Skype chat logs
- Some Facebook conversations, about one or two a month on months that we weren't visiting each other.
Do you think this will be enough? Anything we're leaving out? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Congratulations! We received NOA2 in 42 days and were at Texas. Seems like they're just moving things faster everywhere.
-
We only sent copies of my fiances passport pages where it had the stamps on it from trips coming to visit me. He's the beneficiary and we didn't get an RFE, so you'll probably be okay.
-
Thanks guys. Yes, we were one of the transfers on 8/6/13. I checked a few numbers around us, and the were some that received RFEs and another approval. So, I'm really starting to believe it's real.
-
Hello. Just checked the uscis site and it says our application is approved, so I guess we got NOA2, only 42 days after NOA1. We're very excited, but I keep checking it to make sure it wasn't a mistake. I'm a little concerned that this isn't real, and the site just says it by accident somehow. Anyone else out there getting approvals? I'm thinking we'll be seeing some approvals for the people that were transferred from vsc to tsc if this is for real.
-
Thanks for looking all that up. Vey helpful!
-
No, I didn't call uscis yet. I just checked the site and we were transferred to the local office on August 6. So, not sure why they wouldn't have changed the alien registration number. Has anyone else had this happen?
-
Hi all. We filed on July 5th and got noa1 on July 12th. We haven't got notification that the Alien Registration number was changed yet. It seems like all this usually happens within in a week or two. Have amy of the other July filers gotten notification that theirs has been changed? Is it a bad sign that this is going to be a loooooooonnnnggg wait?
Penalty for not having health insurance
in Tax & Finances During US Immigration
Posted
We applied for AOS in February of 2014 and my husband just received his greencard in December of 2014. We could not afford healthcare for him the whole year. I'm about to work on our taxes, and was wondering if we would have to pay the penalty for not having coverage. I thought you could go about 3 months without coverage and be okay. I also thought since he wasn't an lpr yet we wouldn't have to pay the penalty. Now I can't find that information anywhere. Is anyone in a similar situation? Did you have to pay? Your comments are appreciated. Thanks!
