  1. Finally we've reached the interview stage. Thank God!But we uncertain but fee at the embassy. Here are few questions:

    1. We've paid IV fee on CEAC webpage already and it even appeared 'PAID'. Are we gonna pay again at the embassy for the same thing (IV fee)?

    2. Are there any other fees we are likely to pay at the embassy that has not been mentioned?

    Thanks a lot in advance!

  2. Our case is completed since March 27th and we are waiting for interview date now which is likely to come soon. However the beneficiary's passport expired 19th April. Meanwhile, an application for renewal of the passport since December 8th 2014 has still not been sucessful. In fact the Ghanaian passport authority has been a disappointment! They claim their printing machines were all spoilt! My questions are:

    1. Incase they still have not printed the new passport before the visa appointment date comes, what should be the way out?

2.Is there anyone here from ghana who has ever been through similar situation? Pls share with us how you came through.

    3. Is there anyone at that passort office that can "be seen" to help fastrack the passport printing?

Pls your answers are much appriciated. Thanks

  3. Hello everyone here.

We are still waiting for NVCs 60 days to end by 14th April. But befor then these are some questions on my mind:

    1. Within the 60 days nvc gave us letter saying "all documents needed for processing your case have been received". Can there be any situation they'll again say some of these documents have not been submitted?

    2. Roughtly how long can it take again after the 60 days to have an appointment date?

    3. What are some possible factors that may lead to delay in progress of work at the embassy (in Ghana)?

Thanks a lot for your answers.

  4. Hello All Members,

We have had a letter from the NVC on February 13th, 2015 stating that our case was received and that counting from that 13th we should allow at 60 days for a review of the case. Now I am sure they are done with the review and this is what they gave us today:

    *KCDXXXXXXXXXX*

    27-MAR-15

    Dear Sir/Madam,

All documentation necessary to complete the National Visa Center's processing of your case has been received. As soon as an interview date has been scheduled, the applicant, petitioner and attorney (if applicable) will be notified.

The applicant should NOT make any travel arrangements, sell property, or give up employment until the US Embassy or Consulate General has issued a visa.

The US Embassy or Consulate General may require additional documentation at the time of the interview.

    Sincerely,

    Director

    National Visa Center

    Case Number: KCDXXXXXXXXXX

    Beneficiary's Name: XXXX XXXXXX XXXXXX

    Preference Category: IR1

    Priority Date: 10-APR-13

    United States Department of State

    National Visa Center

    Attn: WC

    31 Rochester Avenue, Suite 200

    Portsmouth, NH 03801-2915

    U.S.A.

With reference to the priority date stated above, why should the priority date be in "2013"? Or is this the normal way? Because we are expecting any date now to be the end of the 60 days which is around 15-APR-15. Please help

    Thanks in advance!

  5. Hello everyone ,

My wife is a USC and we've been through the process now at NVC level but both our attorney and the NVC are unnecessarily wasting precious time.

From the past two months my wife went through two serious life-threatening medical operations. In the second operation her doctor needed me (husband) to monitor her at night breathing whilst wearing a breath supporting gear. But because im not there she was made to sleep at the hospital.

Now we want to take a letter from her doctor through the attorney to the NVC so that they can expedir the process. But on the contrary the doctor confessed he never wrote a letter like that before.

    My question is that ;

Has anyone ever gone through similar situation before?

Can anyone help us with a sample of how this letter ought to look like?

Thanks in advance for your contributions.

  6. Hello everyone here,

Our case is now at NVC and Immigrant Visa (IV) fee paid (already showing "paid" on CEAC website). But as part of further readings about my consulate in Ghana, I discovered that applicants passing through the Ghanaian consulate here are still paying what all of them refer to as "Visa fee". I want to know the difference between these two fees or if they are the same such that if its already paid to NVC you wont be paying this again.

    Thanks in advance...

  7. Hello everyone,

Now all documents on our side necessary for continuation of the case at nvc are all submitted to the attorney. Thus

    1. ds260 (questionair)

    2. criminal check (beneficiary)

    3. Aos (completed)

    4. iv and aos fees paid

However, after one full month of submission of the said documents to the attorney the CEAC website is still showing the following:

    i. AOS = PAID

ii. AOS DOCUMENTS AND FINANCIAL EVIDENCE = N/A

    iii. IV FEE= PAID

    iv. OV APPLICATION = INCOMPLETE

    v. CIVIL DOCUMENTS = N/A

My problem here is that what could be the meaning of ii, iv and v when the said document were already submited to this attorney bearly a month ago?

Your sugessions are highly respected. I am fruatrated!

  8. Hello,

Our case is now at NVC level waiting on their next action after submitting all documents. Now I have just discovered that six months from now my passport will expire (Passport expiry date April 19, 2015).

    Questions:

    1. Is it appropriate to go for a renewal before the visa date comes?
    2. Will the Ghanaian Passport Office accept renewal when the passport still have six months to expire?
    3. Will this action change any thing within the NVC process which may eventually cause unnecessary delays?

Thanks a lot for your responses.

  9. Hello every one here,

I'm Ghanaian living in Ghana. My wife is a U.S citizen living in the U.S. We filled i-130 and have passed through the stages up to NVC, now our lawyer is demanding a police clearance letter (criminal check) before she continues the case. Questions:

    1. Is that the correct thing to do?
    2. If that is correct, in which form (scan it here in Ghana and email to her) or mail the original?
    3. To Ghanaians in the forum here, where in Accra will I get that police clearance letter?
    4. About how much will that cost me?
    5. How long does it usually take to get the police clearance letter?
    6. How do I determine I am getting the correct document and not fake?

Thank you in advance for your answers.

  11. My wife and i know very little as far as this immigration processes are concerned. our case pass through to nvc and they requested for a co-sponsor. we've got one for barely three months now when he said he was going to take documents from his employer in order to be able to support the case. suprisingly any time my wife calls, he is still waiting for his employer. how long does this take in the u.s?

  12. Hi Everyone,

Our case is being processed by an attorney and we've got to NVC stage. But our joint sponsors declined at the very time we needed them to fill out the documents for us. Now it looks like everyone around us is not ready to do the joint sponsor for us.

I want to find out from here if anyone knows any charity organizations or NGOs in the U.S that can help us with the joint sponsorship.

    Thanks in advance.

  13. Hello folks,

We got stuck at the stage of AOS when our arranged sponsor who had initially accepted to fill out the AOS forms for us declined in the 11th hour. Ever since, my wife (a student in TX) has been looking for a sponsor that meets the requirements for sponsorship without success. Can anyone please help us so that NVC can continue with the case to the finish?

    Thanks in advance

  14. Wondering if this is the start of another long waiting time when I thought this time rather things must move much faster. Our case was APPROVED on December 5th, 2013....but very supprisingly we've not heard anything again either from the USCIS or the NVC. We were expecting the NVC the give us a notice that they have received the Case! but alas... nothing yet! We called the NVC on friday the 10th of Jan and she said the can take 30 to 90 days!

However, most suggestiongs here on vj are saying 2 to 4 weeks is enough for the case to travel from USCIS to NVC.

Pls help us! We need a working clarification here.......the fraustration is enough!

Thanks in advance for your answers.

  15. Greeting to all members!!

We've been approved finally!! Thank God!!dancin5hr.gifdancin5hr.gifdancin5hr.gif

But our question now is: What is the next step after approval?

Our status on USCIS website shows: "On December 5, 2013, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283. For approved applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include USCIS sending notification of the approved application/petition to the National Visa Center or the Department of State. For denied applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include the processing of an appeal and/or motions to reopen or reconsider and revocations."

Thank you in advance for your answers!!
