We also ticked yes to have his SS assigned. Within a week after his arrival we both went to the SS office and was informed that it would be mailed 2 weeks after arrival. Approximately one day before the end of the 2 weeks, we received the SS in the mail, which came just in time for a interview.

I suggest you take a trip to SS and find out if a number was in fact assigned and if yes, kindly ask them for a print out of the number until the card arrives in the mail.

No need to pay the fee ahead of time. My spouse arrived yesterday 12/15, and he had no problems and I did not pay the fee yet. However, if you feel comfortable paying the fee ahead of time, then by all means do that. Each POE is different. My spouse arrived in Ft. Lauderdale and it was smooth sailing, he said that they did not ask a thing. He did mention that his package was very thick and the officer wanted to know why all the unnecessary paperwork. Besides that all went well

BethAnn, I hope it changes soon so that you do not have to make the 2nd trip to travel with your spouse. After our interview on Oct. 25, it changed to ready later in the day and then Oct. 28 status changed to issue. He received his passport back with his visa on Oct. 30th. CO had told him he would have it in 10 days and it took less than 10 days. I am praying that something happens today...Best of luck

Thank you..so I guess that means I will have to re-apply for a new one since no copies were made.

I have a question, does anyone whose spouse travel recently knows whether or not you get back all your records that you submit at the interview. Particularly the police record. If not, is there a way to get a copy or do I have to have my spouse re-apply for one. Reason for this is he has a interview with a hotel a few days after his arrival, and the manager told me that he would a criminal record would suffice along with other information (which I can get) since he won't have one here.

They normally email you the Waybill #, once you get it, you can then sign into this site https://usvisa-info.com/en-jm/selfservice/ss_country_welcome and track it from there. Wishing you all the best.

I believe that your best option is to stay over night at a hotel. I am not sure what anyone else experience was but when I went to the embassy with my spouse on Oct 25, I was informed that I had to wait across the street as there was no waiting area designated for individuals without interview. They also do not allow the spouse inside unless the your presence is requested. You also do not need to inform the guard as to the type of visa being applied for as it will not make a difference to them.

So having to travel to and from Jamaica on numerous occasion, I realize that tickets are not as reasonable anymore. Spirit no longer flies to Kingston and the only two are currently JetBlue and Caribbean Airlines. Gone are the days when I could take my children home for x-mas for less than $1000 in plane tickets if you buy early. Now, it seems like you still don't get a break, no matter how early you book. Lawd have mercy pon us Jamaicans who still have love ones that we need to visit. I always say, I am only an hour and a half away from Kingston, why we can't tek a boat go dere and be done and over wid it.

Just received my Waybill # and check, Status says out for delivery. I am more than grateful and elated at this point. Can't wait for him to come even though it won't be until after Thanksgiving. Either way, after all our roadblocks and disappointment, another month will not hurt.

I feel so blessed and appreciative of all the encouraging words from the Jamaican VJ members and most of all I must give all praises to the Most High God for stepping in right on time.
