  1. Hey VJers, as promised, see my visa interview experience below:

We got to the emabassy about 7:15am as our (My daughter and I) was at 8am. Outside was 2 queues, 1 for 8am appointments and the other for 8:30 so ofcourse we join the 8am. A lady from the embassy was outside checking and verifying P4 cover for date and time of interview and persons. After this we went inside.

Once inside the Embassy, we were directed to the room where numbers were given. The lady then ask all persons being filed for to come to the front of the line. Once there, she gave us a number and told us that we should wait in chairs in the "A" section until called. The "A" section is for immigrants it seemed.

After about 30 minutes of waiting our number was called by a lady, she asked me our passports, medicals and pictures and all the original documents, then told us to have a seat. Then after about another 45-50 minutes, a gentleman (Interviewing Officer) called us and asked the following questions after having us swear to tell the truth:

    Who petitioned me?

    What's her name?

    How did we met?

How long have we been talking? (At this point I told him I have pictures of our relationship and he asked to see them. I had about 50)

Is my daughter the my wife's daughter too?

Who takes care of my wife and daughter since she's not working?

What the date of my marriage?

THEN he turned to my daughter (16yr not for my wife) and asked:

    Who do you live with?

How will she manage? (Since lives with her mom)

What is she planning to do in College?

Then he reviewed the documents, stamped a few papers and told us "congratulations your visa has been approved. You should get your package in 1-2 weeks."

We said "Thanks - have a great day." and he said "You're welcome. Same to you". And the hurdle was over; we were out of the embassy by 9:45am.

Hope my experience helps in some way.

  2. Hi Australianalien,

Is your wife domiciled in the USA now? If not then she needs to think about moving there and establishing domicile. Also, you really don't need a lawyer to do anything for you unless your case is special as my wife is a LPR and we did all the filing ourselves. You need to start with the i-130 form and necessary documents. Fill it out very carefully and send to USCIS along with all the necessary documents. This site is excellent with information and assist with questions you have. You can start with the links below:

    All the best.

  3. Please help me out. My friend told me that when I have applied for my spouse under F2A, somewhere the NVC will need me to send them tax return docs for 3 years. I came to US late in 2013 and so far I have only one tax form fr 2014 because 2013 I was not working. from what I see, If NVC asks for those docs by 2016 I will only have 2, for 2014 and 2015. IS that enough? Anybody in the same case please help

It should be once you're earning above the poverty line. However, you can get a Joint Sponsor who's working 3 years or more above the poverty line and you should be good.

  4. Dordor

My wife just finished the interview

First I have baby born after case completed so, the interview letter was only for my wife but she must go with the baby

    Appointment was at 7:30 AM:

The Consular asked her to pay $325 for the baby and she told her also to go office outside and fill another DS230 for the baby. Then She took my wife and baby passports. She was very nice with her and she was joking too :)

    Thanks God

I hope they get the visa quickly :)

Now the status in CEAC : Administrative Processing

Hi Kmohaseb, like Dordor said, you're fine. Just know you're only going in as a formality. God bless

  5. Thanks , I was approved, below was my experience. Good luck in your interview.

Thank You. I hope this helps.

    Here is my interview experience at the Lagos Consulate in Nigeria today. My interview appointment was scheduled for 6:30 am, I woke up around 4:00am, and set out for 5:00am, I got to the Embassy around 5:30. There is a private park just adjacent the U.S. consulate. The parking fee is 500 Naira, I parked and waited inside the car. I noticed people were already queuing by 5:55am, I quickly hurried towards the queue and joined. Subsequently 6:30am appointment, 7:00 am, 8:00 am were all separated as people for 6:30 were asked to remain in the queue. Preferential treatment was given to aged, pregnant women, and women with kids. After the Security Check, was appointment confirmation. A tally and a contact sheet was handed over to me. In a group of 5 we were asked to go inside for document collection and subsequently interview. At the entrance, I was asked to press B (IMMIGRANT VISA) and a slip came out. On this slip is written a number which will be eventually used to call applicants to different windows either for document collection or for interview. Fast forward to the interview, I waited until I heard my tally number and also saw it flash, and walked straight to the Visa Officer. She asked me to raise my right hand and affirm to say nothing but the truth, she took my finger prints afterwards. Then ensued the interview;

    V:O - Who petitioned you?

    I answered

V:O- How long have you been married?

    I answered

V:O- How did you meet your husband?

We met through my course mate and he was my husband's friend. My husband saw my picture and asked to meet me. This led to the second question.

V:O- Where did you meet your husband for the first time

V:O- When did he travel to the U.S.?

V:O- How often does he come back

    V:O- How do you communicate?

    V:O- Where does he live?

    V:O- Where does he work?

V:O- What does this company do and what is his job position.

V:O- What kind of wedding did you have?

V:O- Can I see pictures? She asked to know the people in the pictures. After answering all her questions, She concluded by saying everything looks fine and I am going to approve your visa, here are your original documents. She handed me three papers one for passport collection, rights and abuse pamphlet and the last was for green card payment of $165 dollars. I left the Embassy at about 10:00am. This was the easiest part of this process.

Hey Dordor - thanks for sharing your experience. All the best my friend and safe travel to the US. :dancing:
