I sent an EP enrollment email during the 3rd week of April. A quick call to NVC yesterday confirmed that the EP enrollment department is experiencing a higher than usual load of emails to process. That being said, the lady told me she really can't give me an accurate time estimated on when I would be receiving the OPT IN confirmation.
Let's assume I get it today, or sometimes this week: If I send the AOS and DS 260 docs by email, that means ending up at the tail end of the queue and waiting for another X weeks for the damn thing to be processed!!
That's a total of X (weeks for OPT IN confirmation) + Y (weeks for docs to looked at) + Z (weeks for the actual application to be evaluated).
I have seen other members who snail mailed their packages and had their documents scanned and in the system in less than 2 weeks.
Thoughts?
To be clear, I am only speaking from our experience here given that we are recent EP filers as well.
Our eMail, be it initial enrollment or AOS and DS 260 docs took between 3 weeks and a month to be acknowledged. We did not wait for confirmation of EP enrollment prior to sending our AOS and DS 260 docs but rather sent these items once we submitted payment of the respective fees. From the time a case number was assigned to case complete took us 36 days and 2 false checklists. Once acknowledged, our documents were reviewed within 24 hours. To be clear, I am not referring to an out of office reply acknowledgement but rather an eMail sent by NVCElectronic stating "We received electronic documentation for this case."
I know of two other recent Canadian EP filers who also submitted documents prior to receiving confirmation of EP enrollment without issue as well.
For us, the most difficult part of EP filing was the wait for our eMailed documents to be acknowledged when others who mailed hard copy documents were being acknowledged within two weeks, here we were waiting and being told that our documents hadn't been received - Which was incorrect, our documents had been received and were waiting in queue to be acknowledged and added to our case to be forwarded for review. So where we lost time in waiting for our documents to be added to our file, we gained time in that the review of these documents happened very quickly after they were acknowledged where the opposite may be true for some "paper" filers.

Has anyone called today to ask about an interview date?
Yes, called about an hour ago...no new information, was again told that they are still scheduling June interviews...Perhaps reason for a little hope for those of us waiting?!
-
We should also add that we are grateful for the support and guidance received from the many wonderful people who inhabit this site.
While we are not one of the more prolific posters, we have visited often. The information, thoughtfully composed and written guides and wiki’s (thank you Saylin and all others who have and continue to contribute) have proven an invaluable resource and have allowed us to move through our time at the NVC without any “real” checklists.
But most of all we appreciate each and every one of you who are on this journey with us. You have been the source of more comfort and understanding then one could ever hope or expect to receive from a “stranger.” We acknowledge you and send our very best to you and those you love!

So after what felt like a never ending wait for our eMail to be acknowledged given that we had opted for EP we have received our
CASE COMPLETE ON MAY 1st 2014!
Confirmed this morning via a telephone call to the good people who staff the NVC.
No interview date yet, though hoping for June.
We send our hopes for a quick conclusion to All of you as well!

Hi everyone, I am doing EP and I haven't yet received the EP approval email from NVC. The paralegal emailed our AOS and she is waiting to email IV documents and also doesn't want to prepare the DS-260 saying we have time and it will only confuse NVC. What is your experience? Thanks for any answers here. I am so upset that we hired a lawyer!!!!
We are doing EP as well, our signature says it all.
We did not wait to eMail the documents but rather sent our ENROLL eMail on March 27th followed by the AOS (March 31st) and IV (April 1st) packages once their respective fees were paid. At present NVCElectronic eMail is being responded to within 30 calendar days (or at least in our personal experience this is what we've found.)
The only "issue" we have encountered is that we have thus far received two false checklists, had we waited to send our IV documents we would have avoided one false checklist - Though I don't see the harm in receiving a false checklist if one understands what it represents.
Our AOS was approved or accepted on April 29th - Had we waited for approval to send our IV package it would now be in the eMail queue and likely wouldn't be acknowledged/added to our file until the end of May based upon current trends.

Yet another update from an EP filer:
As our timeline and post this morning indicate we received an eMail acknowledgement of our IV package this morning. In spite of this we received another false checklist this evening requesting our IV package. After contacting NVC it would appear that the checklist was generated yesterday at the time our AOS was approved.
Still waiting...

Good Morning All,
An update for those who inhabit the land of EP with us:
Half an hour ago we received an acknowledgement eMail confirming receipt of our IV package which as our signature indicates was eMailed to NVCElectronic on April 1st.
Now: waiting and hoping and waiting and hoping!!
Our best to you all!
-
We can't speak to rejected paperwork however have found NVCElectronic autoreplies to be hit and miss. An autoreply was received for our ENROLL eMail however no such reply was received when sending our AOS and IV packages.
-
Saylin..... I too thought it was a false checklist, but like you said usually it's requesting the IV package..which I received one of those on April 21, todays was very specific, listing everything needed. So I am not sure. A couple days ago I spoke to NVC and they told me they received an email from me on April 17 but the IV package wasn't in that email...but that is what I sent them, the IV package, Today JOY told me they haven't reviewed anything and didn't see anything in regards to them receiving any emails from me. So I am totally and completely confused and very aggrevated. I just want someone there to give me a straight answer, just to let me know whether they received my IV email and documents or not
Xprecious32,
The other thing to realise is that when we're told they have received an eMail from us and a date is quoted, they are not quoting the date we sent the eMail but rather the date it was acknowledged by NVC. So when you are told they "received an email...on April 17 but the IV package wasn't in that email" you should look at the eMail for which you received an acknowledgement for on the 17th (which looking at your timeline was your AOS package.)
Your timeline indicates that your IV package was eMailed to NVC on April 4th and you don't indicate that you have received an acknowledgement as yet for this eMail which makes sence. We submitted ours on April 1st and have not yet received acknowledgement yet either. Until an acknowledgement eMail is received the call center folks have no record of us ever sending it, even if it has been sitting in the eMail queue for the better part of a month!
I hope that both this and the knowledge that you are not alone in the adventures of EP processing helps a little.

dont worry. it happened to me. when they review ur ds260 .but aos or civil document is not there.they will send that. i sent aos and civil document on april 3. they reviewed my ds260 on 422.but my document was not there.so they sent the same thing.
Hey All,
We too are in the same boat – Registered and confirmed for EP, both AOS and IV packages sent via eMail on March 31st and April 1st respectively.
As of this writing NVC has acknowledged receipt of our AOS via eMail on April 26th however has not yet acknowledged receipt of our IV package which was eMailed a day later. Checklist also received this morning regarding IV documents.
Still waiting…

Greetings All,
Yet another update for those submitting via EP:
We have just received an acknowledgement email in response to our AOS package. As our timeline indicates our AOS package was sent to NVC on March 31st prior to confirmation of ENROLLMENT and for which we did not receive an auto reply email.

So, I've had good experiences both days I called the NVC this week (spoke to Sandy on Tuesday, Todd this morning), but sometimes I do wonder if they're being run by monkeys over there.
In a nutshell:
As my signature suggests, I received my EP acceptance email on 4/15 (responding to my original 3/23 email), and resent both the IV and AOS packages minutes later. As you may recall, I decided to test a theory: I sent the EP OPTIN email on 3/23, resent on 4/7 per an operators suggestion, and after both payments cleared I emailed the AOS package on 3/29, and the IV package on 4/1. The only time I ever received an autoreply was on 3/29 for the AOS package - never for the OPTIN, or for the three other emails containing the packages.
My DS-260 was accepted on 4/22, and a false checklist requesting both packages was received via email on 4/23 (which I then ignored, of course).
This morning, I was told that my IV package was under review, and that they received it on 4/22 (remember: I emailed it both on 4/1 and 4/15). Todd was concerned that it was the civil documents rather than the AOS, and advised me to email it once more to be certain it was received. Following his instruction, I did so immediately after I got off the phone (and received an autoreply).
Literally less than three seconds after I hit send (before the email had cleared my outbox), I receive an email responding to my 3/29 email that contained the AOS package (half a month before I received the EP acceptance) that they were now reviewing my AOS package.
I'm going to take this to mean that both packages are under review, and I should expect a case complete some time soon, but I really do hope it's before time slots for the June interviews are filled.
Thanks for the update, greatly appreciated!
This would suggest that they are working on NVCElectronic eMail sent March 29th. Watching both your timeline and that of Xprecious32 with fingers crossed. Our AOS was eMailed on March 31st and our IV package on April 1st...The waiting game doth continue!!
-
Yes I emailed IV docs again on the 17th the first time was april 4th. Arthur mentioned receiving that email on the 17th but stated my civil docs where not in that email and that I needed to send them in? I checked that 17th email and the civil docs where definetly in that email.
Well I bet you hear something before I do. If I were you I would call NVC to confirm that they received your AOS and DS-260 supporting docs. Without receiving an auto reply you have no way of knowing if they received them or not. And according to the emails I've received from NVC the emails state 20 business days from when you sent them to be reviewed. I would call to confirm there acceptance.
What part of MA are you headed for? I'm going south of Boston,to Fall River.
I have called on a daily bases in fact and they are unable to confirm receipt of the AOS or DS-260 supporting docs at this point.
I get the impression that when we call the good folks in the call center are only able to “see” eMail which has been acknowledged – Given that your AOS was acknowledged on the 17th it becomes an available eMail of reference however given that our AOS and DS-260 supporting docs (IV package) were only eMailed on March 31st and April 1st and you indicate that they are still working on eMail received on March 27th the call center has no record of eMail received subsequent to that date, which has not yet been acknowledged and thus not yet added to our case.
Your timeline indicates that your IV package was eMailed on April 4th thus I imagine that it is in in the land of eMail purgatory with our documents until they are “acknowledged.”
-
WOW!!! I hope who ever calls NVC today does not get ARTHUR, what a grump! LOL
And for those doing EP, they are receiving and reading emails up to March 27 right now.
He said I have to send in my marriage cert, birth cert, police check etc, But he did say that they received an email from me on the 17th which was my DS-260 supporting documents, but those documents aren't in the email. I just checked my email that I sent to them and everything is there.
Is it possible that they just haven't reviewed that email yet and that ARTHUR has no clue what he is talking about??
At this rate I no longer see myself getting a June interview.
Xprecious32,
Looking at your timeline your AOS package was acknowledged by NVC on the 17th – could this perhaps be the email that Arthur was referring too?
We are using EP as well and are watching your timeline intently – We sent our ENROLL eMail on March 27th and only received confirmation of enrollment on April 21st. Our AOS was eMailed to NVC on March 31st and DS-260 supporting doc’s on April 1st – No auto reply eMail for either but hoping for the best!

Hi mattandinga,
I've applied to Enroll on March 21 and then one more time on March 26. So far I have not received the Enroll confirmation email from NVC.
I am ready to email AOS documents but still waiting to receive the confirmation first.
Please read my signature timeline and let me know if I should send AOS despite have not received enroll confirmation.
Thanks for your advice,
Lukiduki
Hi Lukiduki,
Saylin’s Wiki for Canadian Spouses for NVC (electronic processing and online forms) provides the following:
Keep in mind, you should only email the two packages (AOS and IV) after you've gotten the acceptance email saying your case can now be processed electronically. You can find an example of what it says below in the section labelled Correspondence (it may have changed slightly since 2011).
However the NVC guide http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/submit/how-to-submit-documents-to-the-nvc.html simply provides the following:
Once you have sent your opt-in e-mail to the NVC, you may follow the Group A: Electronic Processing guidelines above to submit documents to the NVC.
I haven't located mention of an acceptance email in the information provided by the NVC, perhaps Saylin can shed some light? Not sure that this really helps, though is the best I have right now.
We’ve sent our enrollment email on March 27th and thus far haven’t received an acceptance email yet either.

Greetings All,
An update for those using Electronic Processing (EP). We have paid our AOS fee and the following information available on the receipts page would suggest that the Bar Coded Cover Sheet is not required for those using EP:
Next StepsPayment Receipts for IV Case MTL2014xxxxxx
Status of All Fee PaymentsUnless this case has joined the Electronic Processing Program you will need a Document Cover Sheet. You may use the Print Document Cover Sheet button below to print one now. If you cannot print a copy now use the Email Document Cover Sheet button to send an electronic copy to an e-mail address where it can be printed later.
-
Try reviewing this for Saylin's recommendations, although the only thing I might have done is make coversheet one word:) And is it a pdf? Maybe add .pdf or .doc? Not sure that's necessary.
Lakehouse: Thanks not only for the quick response but for the grammar tip as well...Coversheet it is ; p
I have reviewed Saylin's material for recommendations however they are silent in regard to my specific question.
Once the AOS fee appears as PAID my plan was to print out the 'Document Cover Sheet' and add this to the AOS email package as an individual PDF file per the early 2014 NVC website instructions, which I hope makes sense. Not quite there yet in the process though was hopeful that someone who has successfully used the new EP file guidelines might be able to confirm if I'm on the right track. Can you say Type A personality of me?! <grin>
Thanks again,
-
Greetings All,
Yet another question regarding EP – I understand that both the AOS and IV packages will have several attached files. Presumably the respective bar-coded cover sheets are included as individual attachments as well? If so, do we expect the below naming format to be acceptable?
MTL##########_FIRSTNAME_LASTNAME_DOCUMENT_COVER_SHEET
Thanks,
P.S. I also echo the sentiment expressed by so many others – This site and more specifically the many individuals who contribute knowledge, time and a myriad of kind words are appreciated beyond measure!!

Greetings All,
A question regarding EP file naming conventions – I have reviewed both the Wiki for Canadian Spouses in addition to the NVC’s info page in regard to sending EP packages, however a couple of questions remain. I understand that for the AOS package email, one will have a few files: cover letter, I-864 form, tax information, pay stub(s), and employment letter. Given that the AOS supporting documents pertain to the Petitioner would the file names reflect the Petitioner’s name or that of the Beneficiary? The NVC website provides the following example:
- ABC2009123456_John_Doe_I864.pdf
- ABC2009123456_Jane_Doe_Birth_Certificate.pdf
Which presumably suggests that dependent on the nature of the attachment, Petitioner and Beneficiary names are used interchangeably, is this correct or should all file names reflect the Beneficiary’s name?
Thanks in advance,
-
Greetings All,
Apologies for potential duplication beforehand.
Should we include an alien registration number in completing the AOS i864EZ form and if so where or how would one go about locating said A-number?
Our NOA2 does not provide an A-Number.
With thanks,
-
