Just checked my case status. It jumped to "in line for interview." It took 17 days. Updated the spreadsheet.

Hi everybody,
I filed my N-400 at the beginning of the month. Got my NOA letter in the mail and on April 18th they scheduled my bio appointment. Waiting for that letter now. Good luck to everyone!!!
-
i filed for an expedite, that's why my combo card only took 28 days.
-
thanks for your replies, guys.
little update: this morning, my case info was updated to 'interviewing/testing'. i guess we just skipped the initial review stage. should i be expecting a appointment letter at this point or is this still ways away. just seems very quick knowing i only filed at the end of feb.
-
whoops, just posted the same question w/o reading the threads. so yeah, we've been stuck on acceptance for 4 weeks now. i already received my Combo Card thanks to a successful expedite. gotta love the waiting game!!!
-
hey,
i submitted my I485 paperwork exactly one month ago. however, the website still shows the acceptance stage and not the initial review. is this normal or should i be worried.
on another note: i filed for advance parole and EAD concurrently and already received my Combo Card.
thoughts?

hey,
as long as you answer all questions honest and truthfully you should be fine.
good luck

Ahem... Are you talking about NOA1 or NOA2? NOA1 usually only takes a couple of days. If you waited for your NOA1 for more than a year, something must have gone TERRIBLY wrong. If you created a timeline, that would help.
thank you they probably got so caught up in politics they forgot what this thread was REALLY about.
i got my noa1 via email and text yesterday btw. and i did update my timeline.

i am currently in the same position. regarding a secured credit card:
i've been banking with bank of america (savings and checkings). and i qualified for a partially secured credit card. $99 security deposit and $500 spending limit. the card is connected to the three credit rating agencies in the states and they get notified monthly on my bill payment behavior so that is another bank that's worth looking into. also, you get 3% cash back on gas, 2% on groceries and 1% on everything else. that's a nice plus.

hey,
we sent in the AOS paperwork last monday (2/24). we signed up for the email and text message notification system, but have not heard from uscis yet. i tracked the package and it was received last wednesday (2/26). how long does it usually take for an noa1? i remember that with my k1 it came five days after i shipped it.
is a longer wait with the i-485 package normal?
thanks for putting my mind at ease

thank you for your take on this, in the meantime my husband and i got married here in the states and i'm in the AOS process. i conversed with germany and they signaled that they will NOT accept my new name. my old maiden name is now my middle name and since they don't have middle names in germany it would still be my last name. it's backwards. they rather want me to have to different names in two different countries. oh and we can not register our marriage in germany, it would be downgraded to a civil union. i'm simply refusing to do that. once germany has same sex marriage, i might register it. for now: there is really no reason. we are living in the us and are getting tax breaks here.

I just filed my I-485 together with AP and EAD. I did some research on this forum and this is what I included both with my I-131 and I-765:
- 2 passport photos
- copy of passport (bio page, visa page and stamp)
- copy of marriage certificate
- copy of NOA2 of I-129F
- copy of I-94.
Don't really know if that was necessary, but I'm trying to avoid any RFEs here. Knock on wood. Also I heard, that the I-485 gets separated and processed differently than the I-131 and I-765. Don't know whether this is true or not.
Hope this helps!

i don't think said person is in possession of a greencard, sounds like he has a b1 maybe? but you are right, dwheels76, if he was in possession of a green card, his status would be considered 'abandoned'.

thanks, i didn't want it to go that fast. my old employer forwarded my resume and the place ended up calling me asking me for an interview. guess they are short staffed and looking for someone with my skills. but i was up front with them and told them about the situation i'm in.
i got all the paperwork i need, ssn, driver's license, complete aos package. we're just waiting for the wedding, the certified copy and off it goes.
in the meantime, we do have a wedding to plan. which will be nothing short of fantabulous. so i'm looking forward to that.
thank you again

thanks for all your responses. i'm just gonna wait that one out and then try the expedite route.
-
alrighty, i'll just wait that one out. after all, it's only 90 more days.

ok, what about an unpaid internship. am i allowed to take an unpaid internship for school back in germany
-
alright, thanks for the info.
so how about this: my future employer creates a volunteer position that is strictly not paid. in the future i would hold another position with that company. that would work, correct?
different scenario: i'm also in school back in germany and still need my internship. i could fill an unpaid internship position correct?

hey folks,
so i'm in the states on a k1. our wedding is scheduled for 2/15, which means we could file for the AOS around 3/1 (we will have to wait for a copy of the marriage certificate). i had a job interview today and they really really really want me to start ASAP. i offered to volunteer until my work permit kicks in, but i'd rather get paid
is there any point in filing for the EAD card now. i know i would have to spent $340. or should i just wait for 6 weeks?
thanks

hey ihr lieben, habe im europe forum ne deutschland frage gepostet. waere super, wenn ihr mal nen blick drauf werft und euren senf dazugebt danke

hey everybody,
so my fiance and I are getting married in a few weeks. Currently my name is straight forward: First Name and Last Name. We decided to have the same last name, but I am not willing to give up my maiden name completely. So my new name will look like this: First Name/ maiden name (now middle name)/ New Last Name. Pretty standard in the US, right?
If I wanted to change my name in my German documents, would they accept all three names? Surely my first and new last name, but what about my maiden name being now my middle name. I guess that would be considered my 2. Vorname? But is that even legal in Germany?
To make things more complicated: We are a same sex couple. Same sex marriage is illegal in Germany. Would they accept our marriage to get my name changed and could we register our marriage in Germany as well??
So many questions. Found some things regarding name change online, but the same sex thing adds a whole other dimension to this already complicated matter.
All the help is greatly appreciated
Thank you
Christian
PS: Not sure if I used the right forum, so ADMINS feel free to move my post around

ah - you are viewing acrobat files inside of a web-browser? EEK !
I never recommend that, instead to download the file. right click over the link, see what your options are, instead. One of them should be to save the file to disk.
yup, viewing it inside of safari. i'm that old-fashioned . i was able to access all documents and instructions for the k1 process, but for some reason the I-765 is giving me issues. tried the download thing: same error message. maybe the document is down?
-
That's what I meant. But every time I try accessing the instruction I get a white PDF with an error message. All other forms work fine, but this one:
http://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-765instr.pdf
But you guys just told me what I need so I'm golden. ;-)
Oath ceremony - day of timeline
in US Citizenship Case Filing and Progress Reports
Posted
Hi there,
‘my ceremony is in a couple of days and my spouse is wanting to attend. My invitation says to be there at 7am. Do people know when the ceremony actually starts and whether my spouse can come just for that? Getting naturalized in Houston Texas and he was wondering if there’d be time for him to get some work done beforehand. Not sure how long after my check in time the ceremony actually starts. Thanks!
