  1. Hi again,

Just wanted to ask something about point of entries to the US and I hope someone here can help me. As a background, I first came to New Jersey via Northwest with my point of entry being Detroit airport (since I had 2 stops.) That was where immigration interviewed me, before I transferred to another flight for NJ.

My question is, since I will be booking my family's ticket for NJ (first time immigrants), can I book a flight that stops directly in NJ already and just have them be interviewed for entry there? Or does it really have to be a pre-determined stop (like Detroit) for them to be interviewed for entry in the US first?

Just wanted to find out before I buy their tickets and don't want to take the risk of them being denied entry because of a direct stop to NJ.

I hope someone here can help clear this out for me.

    Thank you and more power.

  2. Hi, I hope someone here can help help us. Has anyone here recently been interviewed for US Visa (immigrant status). What is the current process now on the day of the interview?

My family was just interviewed today, but no mention of them being approved. After interview by the consul, after waiting, they were called to window 72 where the papers were then inspected again. They were just handed back the appointment letter and was told "You can go home now."

What does this mean? Were they approved? Or were they denied? Do they give you back your passport and papers upon denial or do they send it to you via 2go? Also, in case that they were approved, what time frame does it usually take for them to send your passport and visa?

Sorry po for the long post. My wife was unable to ask any questions so I have no idea what is happening. It has been 6 years since I was last interviewed, and it seems like there were some changes in the process.

I hope someone here can help me clear this matter up, so that we know how we can proceed. Thank you.

    More power.

  3. Hi, not sure if this is the correct area to ask about this, or if it's the correct title, but I hope someone can help me with this questions:

    1. Currently, my family has an upcoming interview (thank you Lord) via F2A, this June, my question is when they get here, do they automatically get a GC w/in a month, or will that be a conditional GC? I am a LPR here in the US.

    2. I have been reading about this retrogression again for F2As, will this affect my family's visa approval, even though all the papers have been filed already and that they have a scheduled interview already?

    3. A funny thing while searching for ticket prices (I know it's still early to buy it, just wanted to see what the prices are), I came across an alert from Korean Air about not being able to purchase tickets online if you do not have return flights, and that tickets should be bought from the origin point.

My questions are, is there a process that I need to know, in regards to buying tickets for first time flyers to the US? Do they need to have a specific point of entry when coming here? And if so, how do I go about purchasing their tickets then, aside from just having them buy it locally there?

When I came here, my dad was the one who purchased my ticket and my port of entry was in Detroit. Will they need to enter as well thru Detroit, or I can just, say, buy a ticket to Newark, NJ, and that'll be their port of entry?

Sorry for the trouble, but just wanted to find out how this goes so I can have a clear cut plan on what to do. Hope someone can help.

    Thank you and more power!

  4. Hi everyone,

Can someone here advise me on what to do? LPR here and petitioning my family to get here.

I have submitted my AOS form (resubmitted it actually because they came back and told me i have to resubmit it due to a mistake with the Total Income line.)

We have paid both AOS and IV fees and have completed the Applications in relation to the IV fees.

I have not yet submitted any of the completed forms for the IV Application and supporting documents needed, in case I have to wait for NVC to inform me to submit it.

My question is, do I have to wait for NVC to send me a checklist of the documents needed as well as wait for them to inform me to send it to them? Or can I just send it to them? I noticed that I can print a cover letter on my end regarding the IV Application and that I don't have to wait for them to send me one.

Just getting confused because it has been a month since I sent the revised AOS form and have yet to hear from NVC about it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you in advance.

  5. The question is : My Total Income (adjusted gross income on IRS Form 1040EZ) as reported on my Federal tax returns for the most recent 3 years.

My understanding is it is the line number 37 from tax form 1040 which says subtract line 36 from line 22. This is your adjusted gross income.

    I provided that info for each year (e.g. 13.a - 2012, 13.b - 2011, 13.c - 2010 ) when I did the I-864. My case was completed without any checklist.

By the way for 13.a. you need to put the year (e.g. 2012), for 13.a.1. you need to put the amount.

Thank you for your answers ekim andJay-Kay, I initially wrote down my adjusted gross, and they came back to me to let me know that was not it since I am just filing a 1040 and not 1040EZ (sorry if I wasn't too clear about this.) So I guess it would be line 22 then.

Thank you for your help! :)

  6. Hi,

I just received notice that i had supplied the wrong amount indicated on lines 13 a, b and c of my submitted I-864 form ( I made a mistake of putting in my adjusted gross income).

It was indicated on the form that I should supply my total income for the recent 3 years. My question is, does total income mean, my gross income or net income? Which line from my 1040 should I be indicating for those sections, is it line 22?

On another note, has anyone here experienced having problems paying for their IV application on their website? Whenever I select the invoice to be paid, and click "pay selected" it would just turn grey and then nothing... I have done this already for 4 - 5 times now, on different times and checked if it says "in process" but so far, nothing.

Any help with the above matters would be really appreciated. Thank you and more power to everyone.

    Best regards,

    Ramonaks

  7. Hi,

I'm not sure if this has been asked here already or not, so please forgive me if it has. I just wanted to ask a few questions on how to proceed with my filed petition.

I am a Green Card holder and I petitioned my wife last Nov. 2011. So far, the petition has been passed to NVC and I recently recieved an email informing me to start paying the AOS fee. My questions for this matter are:

    1. How long does it usually take for the whole process to be completed (from payment of AOS fees to interview)

    2. I was laid off last year and I have only been doing freelance work for a while (having trouble landing a job), will this affect the petition (in terms of when they ask me to submit my AOS)? Will it be grounds for denial/delay?

    3. Currently, my wife has transferred to a different address, do I need to contact NVC about this or will the indicated address on DS-3032 form be sufficient?

The next questions are regarding my minor son. When I was interviewed last 2008, before I came here, I was asked on whether I was bringing my son with me. I said not yet, so the consul informed me that he is indicated on my form as to follow (this means he is a derivative, right?)

    1. How soon should I file for his papers if I want him to come here together with his mother (my wife)? And what forms should I be filing?

    2. is it possible, that instead of filing for a different paperwork in regards him following me, is it possible for my wife to have him as a derivative and bring her with him when she goes here?

    3. If it is possible for my wife to bring him with her as a derivative (this derivative status would be discussed during interview, right?), would this delay them coming here (meaning, my son would have to undergo the whole medical procedure and document submissions)?

Also, I was reading some of the topics here, regarding co-sponsoring.

What are the valid requirements for co-sponsors anyway? Are families the only eligible co-sponsors or can it be friends?

My main concern right now is that I don't have a full time job and that it might affect the whole petition process, this is why I am having second thoughts about paying the AOS fee right away, since they might start asking me to submit an AOS right away.

i hope that someone here can help me in regards to this issues.

Thank you and more power to everyone.
