My dad is the person who is going to be my wifes co-sponser when we file for our aos, he did this before when we filed for our k-1 visa. Apparently he is working under a new supervisor now and his company is refusing to give a letter of employment stating its against company policy. They said if he wants it then they need to see a statement from whoever needs to see the letter. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

We just got back from Bangkok, had our interview on the 16th. I must say it was a very pleasant experience and nothing like i had expected. We arrived about 8:00am and turned in our paperwork at window five. We sat down and patiently waited and about 10:00am our name was called. We were called to window six where a caucasion (american?) man awaited us, i dont know his name but he was very kind and smiled the entire time. After reassuring Thaung not to be nervous, he only asked a few simple questions:
1. to Thaung (in thai): How long has Jamie lived with you ?
2. to me : how long have you lived in Thailand ?
3. where did you meet ?
4. to me : Do you plan to return to Indiana soon ?
Then he smiled at us and told us we can come back the next day to pick up our visa. I couldnt believe it was all over in less than five minutes, we were both so happy. So a big thanks to visa journey and all the members here, i couldnt have done it without your help. Thank you.

Well, we never got our packet 4 even though the embassy told me they had sent it. So they sent me another one, this time i got it, but ended up having to reschedule my interview date. They sent me a email telling me of the new date and that they sent a new packet 4. Well i never got it, and now its 2 days untill my interview. So, should i just bring my old appointment letter, or the email they sent me ? Its too late for them to send me yet another packet 4. This is frustrating.

My parents are sponsering for my fiancee. What should my parents put for question number three, relationship to sponser ?
-
I have a question about the affidavit of support, my parents are my sponsers and they file thier taxes jointly. So do they complete one form together, or seperate forms ? Lastly, i dont have any income at the moment so do i still fill out this form as well ?
This would be for the K-1 fiancee visa by the way.
Thanks

I actually have two questions,
1. Can you use 401k to supplement income reqiurement ? If so, how much would it count for ?
2. Can you use Social Security disabilty benefits to supplement as well ?
Thanks
1) No, but you may be able to use it as an asset. THe general guideline is 5 x the required income requirements... but the CO's have large discretion in determining what is suitable means of support.
2) I don't see why not.. it is income...
Ok thanks for your reply

I know this has been asked a million times, but man this is confusing the hell out of me. I need to be 100% percent sure about this. What is the poverty level requirment for the K-1 visa interview ? ( not the AOS)
I seen in another post somewhere it is 100%, not 125% as with the AOS interview. Any help i can get to clear this up is greatly appreciated.
its 125%. i just read it last night, while I got mine ready!!!!
Diana
can you tell me where you read that ?

Sorry, i havnt figured out how to edit my previous post yet.
I just got off the horn with some contacts back home, if i had a notorized letter of employment stating i had a job waiting for me when i got back home, would this help at the interview?
-
Hi,
Thanks Yodrak, ill read into that tonight. At this point i just dont know what would be best for me to do, go ahead and stay for the interview unemployed, or fly back immediatly and get a month or so work in and atleast show im working.
Its definatly not an easy decision for me, but its one that ill have to make very soon.

Yodrak,
By sponsorship package are you meaning the affidavit of support that came with the packet three, or do you mean something else ? Im curious if there have been any other members who went through the interview process while being unemployed ?
Karvee,Have your parents prepare a sponsorship package with the necessary financial documentation and hope that the consular officer does not insist that you have a source of income back in the USA before they will issue the visa.
Also, start collecting some things that show you and your fiancee are living together. Shouldn't be difficult, use your imagination. And don't be distracted by the kinds of evidence provided those where the two people are living apart in different countries. (Maybe you and Ken can get together and share ideas on the subject.)

Hello,
Thanks for all your replies. Yes, its the interview i am worried about, i dont have a job, i just brought alot of money with me when i came here and ive been living with that. I was going to go back home and start work and prepare for everything but the process has moved along a little quicker than i expected and i thought maybe it would be better if we could fly back together, if possible.
I dont have my own place or anything (in America), but my parents want to sponser for her and want us to live with them, they have the extra room and could use us around the house. In my line of work jobs are easy to come by and i know i could pick one up as soon as i got back, but i dont have anyway to prove this at the interview. So yeah, im kind of confused as to what i should do at this point.
Thanks,
Karvee

This is been bothering me all night, i coudnt sleep. Ok, here's my situation, ive been living with my fiance for seven months and i dont have anything to show to prove our relationship. All we have is pictures and a joint bank account. Everything is in her mom's name, so our names are not on anything. We dont have a interview date yet so we still got a couple months to prepare, so i was wondering is there anything we can do to help make our case more solid ?

karvee,
DS-230 and the signed statement at the end of the checklist for sure - as the DSL-1076 instruction sheet and checklist tells you to do.
People who have been submitting these materials in person, rather than by mail, for the past 6 months or so have been reporting that 2 passport-style photos and a photocopy of the passport ID page are also being requested.
Yodrak
Yes this is true, i recieved two seperate papers asking for that stuff. By the way, thanks for all the replies.

Hi,
We just got our packet 3 yesterday from the embassy in Bangkok and im not sure what we are supposed to send back to them. I know we need to send the two biographic data sheets and the checklist, but do we send the ds-156 and ds-156(k) also ? Anything else ? Sorry if this has been asked before, but i coudnt find anything when i searched. I appreciate the help.
