  1. Hello. My wife and I sent her AOS package last month, and just this week received a letter back about form I-864 Affidavit of Support.

A little info about me. I never had a job. I had lived and met my wife in the Philippines while attending college in 2004 and just recently returned to Guam with my wife.

My dad filled out form I-864 for me and that's what we sent in.

I was wondering how I should fillout form I-864? Especially when I have no income to show.

Do I put down that I'm the primary sponsor and the dad is the joint sponsor?

The letter that we got from USCIS says:

Form I-864 Affidavit of Support was submitted; however, it was not from the petitioner/sponsor.

Please submit a completed and signed Form I-864 with a revision date of 03/22/13, for the petitioner/sponsor listed on Form I-130 or Form I-129F. Even if a joint sponsor will be used, the petitioner/sponsor must submit Form I-864. (The Form I-134 is no longer acceptable to use for Adjustment of Status.) Also provide copies of the petitioner/sponsor's most recent Federal Income tax returns.
  2. The 485, 765, & 131 are all covered under the $1070 fee if you file them together. You also want to add the G-1145. Below is our cover page.

    • Application fee $1,070.00
    • G-1145
    • I-485
    • Passport, Copy
    • K-1 Visa, Copy
    • I-129, Approved
    • I-94
    • Birth Certificate – English Translation
    • Marriage Certificate – Original
    • G-325a
    • Passport photo (2)
    • I-864
    • Federal Tax Transcripts
    • I-765
    • I-131 + addendum
    • Vaccination Record

Is your Cover Page exactly like that? That seems a lot simpler than most sample Cover Letters I've seen. You only sent 2 Passport photos? Not 2 per each forms for a total of 6?

  3. My wife and I applying for her AOS. We're following the Step-by-Step guide and these are the forms we're including in our packet.

I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status

    G-325A, Biographic Information

I-864, Affidavit of Support Under Section 213A of the Act

    I-765, Application for Employment Authorization

    I-131, Application for Travel Document

We're still compiling our Cover Letter.

I have a couple of questions.

    1. How much do I send with the packet? The Step-by-Step guide says $1070. ($985 for I-485 and $85 for biometric fee)

    2. Do I include the fees for I-765 ($380) and I-131 ($360)? For a total of $1810.

    3. What about I-693, Medical Examination of Aliens Seeking Adjustment of Status? She had her medical exam on August 13, 2013. We have the DS-3025. Do we send a copy or the original?

    4. DS-3025 says "Vaccine History Incomplete". And "Applicant may be eligible for blanket waiver(s) because vaccination(s) not medically appropriate (as indicated Above) Should we go to a Civil Surgeon and have this updated? http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/315533-i-693-or-ds-3025/?p=4732435#entry4732435 Says it's not needed.

  4. I was hoping if anyone has encountered this and can give me their experiences.

Last month I was at the US Embassy in Manila applying for my son's CRBA and passport.

We made it all the way to the interview with the officer. The officer told me that everything is okay, it's just that he wanted more evidence of me living in the US. All I had with me were my high school diploma and my expired and current US passports.

The officer told me it wasn't enough, as he wanted exact dates of me being in the US or my school records. He also asked if I had other expired passports and I told him that I had expired Philippine passports but I didn't have them with me.

He gave me a form which tells me to submit the requested documents and mail them to the embassy via Air21. I asked a couple of questions and after that, he left the interview room without saying anything else. We left the embassy after that thinking all I needed to do was mail in the documents.

I read here: CRBA experiences that they headed over to Air21 and to window 1 afterwards.

Should I have left the embassy after that? Did I need to wait to go to another window? Has anyone encountered this? The form is requesting for original expired passports, will the embassy return them afterwards?

  5. Hi this is my first time posting a question.

I have a question about applying for the CRBA/passport. I'm a US citizen father of a child born in the Philippines. I am unemployed nor have I even had a job in the past. Would I need to have a form i134 (Affidavit of Support) filled out when applying for the child's CRBA/passport? Or is it not needed to claim the child's citizenship? The child is currently being supported by both mine and my fiance's famil.
