  1. We efilled for my wife's 10 year green card renewal. And we noticed on the receipt that the birthdate is wrong.

Now how to change/rectify this error?

Call USCIS and get service request ID and than change via uscis service center?

Or just bring the necessary supporting documents to biometrics and ask them to correct the error?

Receipt suggests that you can change info @ biometrics if needed- but not sure if I can change birthdate?

Help will be appreciated. Thank you.

  3. I just noticed that when We filled for my wife's 10 year green card renewal, there is an error in her birthdate shown on receipt.

Now how can I change this error? Request a service number and change it through application center? Or take necessary supporting documents and change it at biometrics appointment? (receipt indicates you can change info @ biometrics appoinment- but not sure if we can change the birthdate)

Help will be appreciated. Thank you

  4. Luckily or unluckily I also got a green card valid for 10 years and Adjusted under category F26.(Married on 12/12/12- its 11 months now) Interesting thing is when I went for interview I was given paper "case held for further review". There were instructions for ROC at first. When he asked wether spouse is USC or LPR we told her she is LPR, at that time he ripped off the ROC instruction paper, took it and told me you dont need this. It is confusing us now. I have asked some reputed attorneys so we all can get right advice. Will keep you all posted on answers.

    Find answer on: http://www.avvo.com/legal-answers/got-a-marriage-base-green-card-valid-for-10-years--1505059.html

  5. Received Green card on18november by mail,GC for 10 years,married for 1 year.Thanks everyone for support

Did anyone follow-up with their 10 years GC instead of a 2 years conditional one?

I think this link should clear every thing. Some summer interns might have screwed up. Ritu: you still need to do ROC even you keep your 10 year GC. It is batter to replace it now with no cost.

  6. Your PD is current and why wasn't any visa number made available for you. If everything on your paperwork is fine then why is it held for review?

I dont know. He already had the paper stating "file held for further review" before interview even started (I saw that). He also told that he will recommend his supervisor for approval. But did not gave an written approval rather than gave just an oral approval. We are Still little confuse. He also told that you will receive your green card in 2-3 week but no approval letter.protest6wz.gifprotest6wz.gif

  7. My category is F2A but interview might help.
Just came back from AOS interview: Went very well but file held for further review.

Interview was at 11:15 @ Newark field office but we reached at 10:15. Security check was little headache as they were taking only 10-14 people at a time in the building via security. You have to wait outside the door till the lot ahead of us get finished with their security check.

10:45 we completed our security and reached upstairs where lots of couples and other naturalization candidates were waiting. Gave interview letter to window no 1. and waited for our turn. Many of the couples ahead of us were separated just before the interview.Either spouse was sitting in waiting area and other was interviewed inside.

We were waiting anxiously for our name to be called. Nearly @12:25 they announced my name and called us at window 4. A white guy (our IO) in his fifties told me that he has not forgotten us. We are the next. But he has to take a break for 15-20 minutes for restroom use and need to review our file than after.

We were called in with in 15 minutes. At the door another IO was standing. Our IO told him to give a way to his clients and that make us all smile. IO standing there told us the our IO has forgotten to take his medicine today and might act high.We all laughed. (These jokes made us very comfortable & relived our anxiousness.)

In the office he made us to take the oath and offer us seats. (By that time he was already having paper in his hand informing 'case held for further review' that I saw)
IO: Your I-130 is already approved so this will not take more than 5 minutes.(and it did not)
Asked for our Ids. Conformed our address. Than he told us that he met his grandchildren last weekend so he is very excited and happy. (We were hoping for that)
IO: to my wife: Do you mind if I call you dear sweetheart? She smiled and said she dont mind.
IO to me: Do you mind? We all had a smile.
IO to my wife: Do you work?
My wife: No (My wife is my sponsor)
IO: Than I have to check your affidavit of support and that looks fine.
IO to me: It seems you have changed you I-20 student status once.
    Me: yes
Than he just conformed my birthday and told us that he sees every thing fine.He checked all our already submitted documents and said there is nothing missing. From my side I am approving you but I don't have any visa available right now with me. I will give this file today evening to my supervisor recommending approval. And than he gave us that letter stating file held for review.
He was very nice throughout the process and at last he told us to get lost and we all can have a nice day. We all laughed at that movement. With a firm handshake we left his office.

(Overall he made this interview very easy and made us comfortable.Did not asked any other questions. Did not see any of our documents or photos that we took with us. Just told that whatever you submitted already is enough. I think whoever is having I-130 approval before their interview might be having more or less same senario.)

I will let you guys know as I get my approval conformation. Thank you Bokar83 for creating this thread. Thank you LPR_filer, Bony69, Naga and other VJmembers to helping me out.

  9. bhesas01: Always it is better to say the trust, but only if they ask you about some point, don't volunteer the information. In the first point you came here to study, additionally you got married, that is not immigration fraud intent, in the second point you have more evidence that I had, and since one year ago, I am conditional resident ( my interview was in Newark too). Don't worry! Show them other photos, include pictures with the families and in different places, if it is possible.

    I agree with Bony69's comment.

    Bhesas01 Good Luck!

Thank you so much Bony69 and LPR_filer. A huge weight lifted from heart...feeling good now....

  10. I might be in a serious problem. Need advice.

Me and my wife had long story knowing each other since 7 years. We were together in college for 6 years.

    Prob 1: I got engaged in 2011.

Got student visa in 2012 and we both came to US. She has green card.

married in december 2012. Should I mention my engagement or it will raise flag as visa fraud as intent to immigrant?

Prob 2: I have lots of photos of us together with each others family. But we have only 3-4 photos of my wedding as I am trying to find my all other wedding photos as my photographer has lost my pics.Is it ok to show only 3/4 photos and tell him the truth that we are trying to find it? Really frustrated and felling cray5ol.gifcray5ol.gif

Other documents that I am going to show in interview:

    1) Joint bank account statement

    2) car insurance with both us name

    3) school transcript showing we both were together for more than 5 years

    4) tax return

    5) detailed phone bills

    6) credit card in both's name

  11. Received the RFE yellow letter today. Guess what? It says they can't process my 485 case because I didn't submit the evidence to show the 130 petitioner is US citizen @@. I filed F2A, my spouse is green card holder and everything stated clearly in my 130 petition with the copy of green card. I'll call USCIS to ask about this mistake tomorrow.

This is old 2004 notice it might help you and all of us

  12. After my case transferred on 16th of August to Nebraska I got another mail yesterday(22 Aug) stating ....

"The I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN was transferred and is now being processed at a USCIS office. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. If you move....."

does this means soon I will get a decision/RFE....?

  13. I dont know if yesterday was a super-lucky day.

14 Aug- Sent AOS packet I-485 to chicago

16 Aug- Reached at chicago. I-130 -same day case transferred to Nebraska service center

23 Aug: 4 text msgs and 4 emails at 2:00 AM in the morning

    1) AOS I-485 accepted

    2) Advance parole I-131 under initial review

    3) EAD I-765 under initial review

    4) I-130 case updated and we have start working on your case

Soo much relief after a frustrated whole week.

Thank you to the fellow members who helped me with my filling process.
