you might have more luck applying at start up companies - they're more happy to accept experience over paper. like try a web company that needs an accountant - you'll be building up your resume with "american" experience, and honestly I've never had a job where my lack of degree was a major hurdle as I have 7 years experience in my field (I'm a programmer) - so don't let the ads freak you out, go on interviews, show that you know your stuff and be confident. you'd be surprised how many times job ads have a lot of "nice to haves" in them listed as requirements.
I agree with everyone else who said kick golden boy out. nothing with change everyone's image of him if you keep suffering through. You didn't sign up for this and he isn't your problem, family or not. he sounds like a tumour. remove him!
I empathize with your michigan situation. when I was staying there on and off for a few years, the situation was pretty bleak all over, but detroit definitely has it the worst. I agree, find out if there's something you can do to unshackle yourself from the house and start over. There must be some kind of solution. Maybe you can contact city hall and see if there are any mortgage relief programs?
I think it would be great if you could find other VJers close by and have meet ups, feeling isolated is no good in your situation. you definitely need to commiserate with other foreign spouses.
I really hope things get better for you, and I think it's awesome that you have hung in this long despite the hardships you've had to endure

I completely sympathize with your situation. You must feel so completely lonely...
I know it must be so tempting to just abandon everything and go home where you might have some control, but I feel like you will miss your husband so much that you will only be more depressed. (you'll have given up yet another companion)
There must be some sort of solution to the brother situation. I know your husband must feel stuck in the middle, but I feel like he should sit his brother down and tell him that he needs to respect you and your husband and give your marriage the room it needs to breathe. If he doesn't leave, consider maybe taking some kind of legal action. After all, it's your husband's house isn't it?
don't give up yet! wishing you luck and happiness from way up in canada

it's better to contact embassy about the automatically extended. btw, i'm glad my NOA2 valid until September
Oh I did
"Good day,
Please note that the I-129F petition will be automatically revalidated at the time of interview. The applicant should present a recent letter of intent to marry within 90 days from the U.S. Petitioner.
I hope that this information may be useful.
Sincerely,

okay whew I looked it up. apparently that's very common and the NOA2 gets automatically extended. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/68059-noa2-expiry/

you do? my NOA2 expires in August but the earliest available interview in Montreal was September 9.
there were major delays because I never received packet 3 from Montreal so I only got my packet 4 email July 3.

for the NOA2, the petitioner (US citizen) receives a copy but the beneficiary (foreign fiance) does not (at least I didn't! my lawyer said that's normal)
the petitioner has to send the original to the beneficiary to take to the interview...
hope that answers your question!

Hello everyone - longtime lurker, first time poster...
On July 3, I emailed the Montreal Consulate to see if they had received the documents that I had sent a week before (I had sent them with Canada Express with tracking and saw they arrived.) The same day, I got my packet 4 email from the consulate saying that I could schedule my interview (I scheduled for September 9, and I had my medical today)
Today, somewhat randomly, I got an email from the consulate that was the actual reply to my inquiry. It says they haven't got the documents yet (although it also says that they are probably going through security clearance) See email below.
I have a copy of everything I sent, which I'm going to bring... I'm just a bit anxious that I'm going to get there and they'll be like "we never got packet 3, go back to Toronto." or something. This is somewhat normal right? I'm a little freaked out because there was already a huge delay since I never received a hard copy packet 3 from the consulate and only found out 6 weeks after they said they sent it.
Good day,
Thank you for your email.
As of today, we have not received your packet 3 documents. Please note that all mail addressed to the U.S. Consulate General in Montreal undergoes thorough security clearance procedures at an offsite facility. This creates additional delays for the mail to actually reach our office. The date you claim the mail was delivered is not the actual date our office has received your mail. You may expect your case to be reviewed within 4 weeks from the date that the mail was sent.
I hope that this information is useful.
Sincerely,
