  1. My fiance is from the UK and I am from the US, we originally wanted to get married in the UK and actually started booking venues and making arrangements immediately without consulting anyone. Big mistake, lost some deposits for the wedding but not a big concern.

When I got back into the US I started researching and made an appointment with my local CIS Office in Tampa. My discussion with the officer and the information she provided is what made me decide to go with the K1 Fiance Visa. Again it's really about preference and what's important to you, for me it didn't matter where we got married I was more concern with the amount of time we would be separated. I was advised processing time for K1 usually takes 4-6 mos and that once approved you would have 90 days to get married in the US. K3 would be a bit longer (she actually quoted up to 18mos ) but the countdown wouldn't start until after you get married. Big difference for me.....there will be waiting regardless but I really can't imagine being apart after we get married. Again final it's your final decision....I wish you best of luck and all the best in your journey ahead. Regards, Arlene

  2. Best Wishes and Congratulations....We received our K1 (NOA2) approval yesterday as well and let me tell you, I couldn't come down from my high. My fiance has never heard me so escatic. :jest: I'm sure you're feeling quite the same. And then I read through the timelines for what's next.....URGGGH! But enjoy your day and celebrate! Regards, Arlene

  3. Yes I remember that movie, I watched it just a few months ago after my future sister-in-law recommended it. I actually asked her what she was trying to imply cause in the end he got deported for not remembering her face cream. LOL. I wouldn't worry if you're going through this process for all the right reasons. Russ and I were curious to see how well we knew one another, so we tried to ask each other some questions....guess what??? He didn't know what my favorite color was, but his mum did. :) Overall he did very well so I'm not too worried. If I can I want to be there with him during his interview, he's worried I might give too much information and treat it like a game show (I tend to be very competitive) and act too suspicious by giving all the answers.....so I've agreed to keep my mouth shut. :innocent:

But for those of you close to your interview and you don't need the added stress.... stay clear. It might make you more nervous. Good Luck!!! :energetic:

    Thanks for your kind words!!!

Well some of these questions are so stupid!

    Like what's your favorite color?

A color of what? A car? A dress? so stupid!

    I don't have a favorite color!!!!!!!!!!!

Right, and the only reason his mum probably knows me so well is because we like shopping together. We got a good laugh about the whole thing and afterwards agreed I should marry his mum. :)

  5. jest.gifI received an early call from my fiance this morning that our NOA2 has been approved.......whoo-hoo! I think this is the first time that the "time difference" has worked in our favor.

What a sense of relief after several frustrating weeks of waiting and wondering if we filled everything out correctly. Thank you all for your input and support. Now onto the next phase of our journey. kicking.gif

    Receipt Number: WAC0XXXXXXXX

Application Type: I129F, PETITION FOR FIANCE (E)

    Current Status:

This case has been approved. On May 15, 2006, an approval notice was mailed. If 30 days have passed and you have not received this notice, you may wish to verify or update your address. To update your address, please speak to an Immigration Information Officer during business hours.

  6. I have a question on general filing instructions and the requirements for support validation such as bank statements(last 12 mos), letter from employer, W-2, income tax return for the past 3 years etc. I think I have everything but just want to make sure on the following:

Question 1 - How many copies of these required documents am I suppose to provide? I read somewhere 3 of everything.

Question 2 - Are originals required for all three copies?

Question 3 - Where do I mail the entire packet? To my fiance or to the Immigration Office processing our application?

Question 4 - Can someone confirm the actual amount considered for poverty line?

Thank you in advance for the clarification, just making sure I do everything right!

  7. I'm in....the only dates blocked for me are June 15th-24th, I'll be in the UK visiting Russ. So have we decided on a location? Who's the designated Martha Stewart of the group? I can offer suggestions for Tampa. We have great locations like Ybor City, Channelside, or Hyde Park. I'll be more than happy to get additional information out once we decide.

I took Russ to Channelside during his visit in April, to a place called Splitsville. It has great atmosphere for big groups to just have a night out.....martinis, great food, pool and BOWLING. He loved it but just a suggestion.

I don't know what theme we want but I'm okay with the other locations suggested....I heard Jacksonville, actually there's a great place called Dave & Buster's, okay with Orlando too, I'm sure there's great venues and only 45 mins away from Tampa. I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone and creating a FL specific support team. Keep me posted.

ooops I didn't read the entire thread of emails.....looks the we decided Orlando. :)

  8. Congratulations for you and your fiance.......looking forward to seeing our approval come through soon since we have somewhat the same timelines. :)

Thanks....I don't mean to be a downer on your good news, but this process is driving me nuts. I keep checking the site to see if our status changes instead of going to bed. I actually emailed a copy to my fiance in the UK, he's been really down so hopefully it will brighten his day when he wakes up tomorrow. I wish you all the best....good night! :)

  9. I feel your pain, but unfortunately we're not in control of this process. I'm in the same situation...... my fiance and I filed on Feb 14th 2006 and have only received our NOA1 (never touched...nothing) Our wedding is planned for Oct 21st, 2006 in Florida with family and friends from the UK and California flying in. Up until his last visit in April we were still making wedding plans and he actually got to see the location, meet with caterers etc. I could be optimistic and hope that at best we'll have the approval by late July, but this week we made a difficult decision and decided to put wedding plans on hold. The thought of losing all that money on deposits and cancelled flights of our guest. Urgggh When we have so much more to look forward to, like our new life together in the US. Luckily all the vendors we've been dealing with have all been very understanding by allowing us to place tenative reservations without the required deposit. But the closer we were getting to October I knew things would change and they would start asking for their money. It's not worth the stress......I hate having to plan our big day around someone else timelines. Once we receive the approval, we will have a small ceremony and will plan for a bigger celebration next year. The important thing is that Russ arrives here safely and that we're finally together.

I wish you the best but December is further down than October so maybe your approval will come in time. Please keep us posted. Regards Arlene

  10. Can I ask a question on this same subject? I was naturalized through my parents when I was young but only have my American passport as evidence. I can probably try to locate my parent's citizenship papers but it won't be an easy task since they are both deceased. Will they accept my American passport number as evidence? Please advise

Hmmm... maybe there's a way immigration could locate a send you a copy of your naturalization certificate. Call and ask them and if they can't, you can ask what other types of evidence they accept :)

I already have a US passport so I'm hoping that would suffice. I know my older sister has the certificate you're referring to but I hear it's a long process to try and obtain one. I just never bothered. Thanks for your reply.

  12. I'd like to share a little story that happened during Easter holiday with my fiance's sister and niece. We were all at his parents house in Sarasota sitting by the pool. We had just finished the Easter egg hunt and the hitting of the Pinata. (something new I introduced to the family where you get a paper mache bunny filled with sweets and take turns hitting it until all the goodies come out) Okay one important thing to note....I stuffed the Pinata with bunny shaped bubble gum. It wasn't until Lucy, Russ's niece came by to sit with us and asked me to show her how to blow a bubble with the bubble gum. So I proceeded to stuff my mouth with the biggest WAD of gum in order to blow a bubble for Lucy. Well needless to say, we got caught by Russ's sister. She scolded Lucy and told her "we don't do that". Apparently bubble gum is not looked upon favorably in the UK. I questioned his sister and told her well in the US bubble gum is very popular. Heck athletes chew it all the time. I got my lesson for the day but the important thing is my fiance had my back and supported me. During his 2 1/2 week visit this past April, I had him chewing on bubble gum and attempting to blow bubbles. That's why I love him. heart.gif

Hmmmm, well it's good to know it's not a UK specific thing because that's how it was portrayed to me that day. "Arlene you must learn UK ways". Regardless, when we have kids we'll let them decide. Thanks for the reply!

  13. There's a bus tour (sorry I'll have to get you the name later) but it stops at all the major attractions of Paris around the city. It's a double decker lime green bus. Very affordable. I agree with the Louvre but you will need at least 2 days to see the entire museum or 1 day just to see the Mona Lisa and Venus De Mila. :) Definitely take the train to the Palace of Versailles and don't be intimidated by asking directions. You may come across a few french people with attitude but don't give up, there are nice people who speak some english willing to help tourist. I'll try and get you the information before your trip. Have fun!!! P.S The only way to see the tunnel where Princess Di died is via taxi. And they don't really highlight as a tourist attraction....we had to ask our driver. It's right across the Eiffel Tower. Very sad.
