Has anyone dealt with a situation where marriage and divorce certificate were not available, neither original nor copies? I am applying for my mom and she does not have anything from her first marriage to my dad (40 yrs ago) which was held in a church; at the time church marriage and divorce was not recognized. Would a letter explaining this situation be advisable? ANy other options/ideas as to what to do about this lack of documents?

Has anyone heard or dealt with a situation where the marriage and divorce certificate are unobtainable? I am applying for my mom and she cannot obtain either of these documents for her first marriage. She was married in a church during communism and those marriages were not recognized. Would writing a letter to explain the situation suffice?

All of you IR5 petitioners, I already sent I-130 for my mom, who is currently in her home country. NOA1 was dated June 17th. I would like to prepare in advance for the next set of documents. I am assuming there is nothing between NOA1 and NOA2. What comes after NOA2? What should I have ready as far as paperwork for the next step?
thank you for your help.

I'm a US citizen and filed I-130 for my mom; received NOA dated June 17th, 2013. Mom is in her home country. I want to prepare for the next step in the process and have all the documents ready in advance. Can you give me a list of all the items needed for the next set of documents; or point me to a link specifically for IR-5.
THank you for your help.

Does any one have information on this subject:
My mom lives in Bulgaria and we submited the i-130 (NOA1 June 17th), SHe is eager to travel and see her grandbaby and is worried of the long wait. She has a 10 yr valid visitor visa (exp 2021), Can she come to the US on her visitor visa and can we finish the aplication process from here and get a change of status? Or do we have to start all over?
I would appreciate if someone has understanding in this subject to give me informaiton.
thank you

I submited I-130 for my mom, NOA date June 17th, 2013. My mom is eager to travel and see her grand child. She has a valit 10 yr visitor visa till 2021. If she comes to the US, can we complete the process for her green card here or does she have to go back to her home country (Bulgaria) for the interview?

I just sined up on this Web Site and I'm new to the IR5 process. NVC received my mom's I-130 on June 17th. I am trying to prepare ahead with the next set of documents. Do I mail i-864 and i-864a directly to her? Can i do that even before we have an approval?
On another note, my mom has a 10 yr visitor visa (expires 2021) she is eager to come and see her grandbaby. If she comes to the US and i-130 gets approved while she is here, can we switch the process and go thru the rest of the application within the US? or would she have to go back to her home country and have an interview there?

is your mom with you in the US or in her home country?

Darnell, any advise on how to handle the fact that my mom can't obtain any documents on her first marriage/divorce 40 yrs ago. It was a religions marriage/divorce only and did not have state recognition. If she were to write a letter with an explanation would it jeopardize our application? I listed it on the I-130 and I am regretting it but I don't' know if it is possible to "amend/correct" the I130 after it has been filed or is this the equivalent of starting over with another $420 fee?
