  1. Hi everyone!

In Feb this year my husband and I moved to Japan for his work. I have had a green card for three years and last year I applied for removing the conditions on my green card along with a permit to live outside of the US for an extended period of time - I-327 which I received in June. I read that these documents are usually issued for a period of 1 to 2 years but mine is valid for just a few months, expiring Dec 5 of this year.

Has anybody overstayed their I-327? Any issues with reentry or renewal of I-327 after that? I will be traveling to America for health reasons in Feb so I was hoping that I can apply for reissue when I go to my doctor.

    Please help!
    Thanks!!!

  2. Hi I currently live in Tokyo and I am in the process of removing the conditions on my green card. My application was challenged and now I need to submit proof of good faith marriage to the USCIS. I have a lease agreement, resident cards, health insurance cards but they are all in Japanese. I was wondering how to go about the translation. I read somewhere that anybody fluent in both Japanese and English could do the translation for me and that the document doesn't have to be notarized. Is this correct?

  3. Hello everybody,

I am a GC holder since Jan 2013 and I am currently applying to remove the conditional status of my GC. My husband just learned that his job is moving him to Japan at the end of January. We don't know how long we will stay in Japan but most likely at least a couple years. I will receive a spouse visa to live in Japan. I will need to travel back and forth between the US and Japan for while because I need to do some extensive dental work.

Is there any way I can keep my US status while I live in Japan? Do I lose my status automatically when i get a spouse visa for another country? Should I apply for a returning resident visa or is not worthed if I get a Japan visa? If I don't automatically lose my GC, can I

    Thank you!

  4. Hello,

I entered the US 5 years ago on a F1 visa. I spent 4 years in college and then applied for an OPT. My OPT expired about 40 days ago and right now I am on the 2 month grace period. I will be on valid status till August 30th.

I got married to my fiance (he is a US citizen) about 10 days ago and now I am waiting on our marriage certificate. I might not be able to assemble all the documents needed for adjustment of status before my grace period expires (still need to do the medical examination and get a copy of vaccination record). I read a lot of things online- some say that I will get in trouble if I overstay my visa, other say that since I am married to a US citizen, my overstay will be excused. Please let me know if you have any information on this topic!

Thank you so much for your help in advance!

  5. Hi everybody,

I met my boyfriends in college about 3 years ago and we have been living together for over a year now. I entered the US 5 years ago on F 1 Visa and after I graduated college I got the1 year OPT extenuation. My OPT expired last week and now I am taking advantage of the 2 month grace period that I got after my OPT expired. My passport also expired on July 3rd. My boyfriend proposed to me and now we are trying to find the best way to approach this situation.

I know that I need to have a valid passport in order to fill out all the paperwork, but I will have to go back to my homecountry to get that passport (If I try to get one through one of the embassies here in the US, the procedure takes about 4 months and I am not sure if I could stay here with my expired visa for that long). I was wondering if I go home and get my passport if I would be able to come back to the US and apply for the marriage paperwork from here.

Also I was wondering if it matters where my boyfriend and I get married and where the interviews take place.

I would really appreciate any advice or suggestions.

    Thank you!
