  1. Hi everyone,

Got my visa interview on Friday (so nervous!).

My wife (US citizen) is just filling in her Affidavit of Support (i864 form) now. As she has lived in the UK for the past 4 years, she doesn't earn any US income. Therefore, should she leave the section blank that asks for her annual income? Or should she fill in her UK income?

I have a joint sponsor in the US who has also filled in an i864 form and included all the relevant details of his US income.

    Thanks!

  2. Hi everyone,

Currently trying to complete the new online DS-260 form. I have my LND number but it's asking for my Invoice ID number. What is that? And where can I get it?

I've heard I can call up the NVC but I can't get through. I've also heard that even if I do get through I could be on hold for ages and not actually get anywhere.

What's going on? All of the official information I can find on the Invoice ID number make it sound like I should have it.

    Thanks,

    Mike

  3. My second question of the day!

I have a joint sponsor because my US wife has been living in England with me for the last few years. However, it's my understanding that she still has to be my sponsor (as she's my petitioner) and so therefore fill out an affidavit of support form.

My question is this: what does my wife put down for her income and emplyment (PART 6 of the 1-864 form)? She has a job and income in the UK but I'm assuming her status in the US is technically unemployed. So does she just tick the 'unemployed' box?

    Cheers guys! Appreciate your wisdom!

  4. Hi everyone,

I've recently learned that my wife needs to provide her US tax return forms as part of the application for my IR1 visa. However, she hasn't fill in her tax returns for the past 3 years because she's been living in the UK with me. We just didn't know she was meant to keep filing them!

What is the best way for her to go about filing the last 3 years of tax returns? So far the numbers we've tried calling have got us nowhere!

    Thanks!

    Mike

  5. Thanks guys that's really, really helpful.

Lost_at_sea I found your guide extremely insightful (can't believe the medical is so much money! When you consider things like the police certificate, the medical, the postage, etc is really starts adding up)! Thanks so much for taking the time to do it. I'm sure many people will be blessed by your hard work.

I might have missed it, but at what point does my wife (USC) have to provide her tax return information? Only because we didn't realise she had to still fill in her tax return information and so we're trying to sort that out at the moment.

    Thanks!

  6. Hi everyone,

I am a UK citizen married to a US citizen and trying to move over to the US. We have been married 4 years and have been living in the UK.

So far, I've figured out that we are going to use DCF and are going to get a joint sponsor. However, I'm under where to even begin! I've basically printed off loads of information on the whole process but feel a bit lost in the details (hope this is normal!).

Does anyone have any advice on where to begin? Is there a 'timeline with a checklist' or something that helps someone like me breakdown the process step-by-step?

    Appreciate your input!

  7. Hi I'm very new to this,

My wife is a USC and has lived and worked in the UK for nearly 4 years. We are planning on moving to the US early next year as I have a job lined up. I'm a UK citizen and I'm hoping to get an immigrant visa/green card.

Are we best using the DCF rather than sending the I-130 form to the USCIC?

    Thanks,

    Mike

  8. Yeah we hardly have any savings! We will be able to support ourselves as we're going to be living rent free as part of my job and we're hoping my wife will have a job waiting for her by the time we move. My wife is currently a teacher and so is planning on searching for jobs when she breaks up for the summer holidays.

I have no doubt we'll be able to support ourselves so it's a bit frustrating that we have to get a sponsor when the very reason we're moving over is for a job.

I guess I'll just have to find somebody very wealthy to sponsor me wacko.png

  9. Hi everyone,

I'm very new to this and have a question regarding sponsorship.

I am a UK citizen and I have been married to my wife (US citizen) for nearly 4 years and we've lived in the UK for the whole time (she's had UK spouse visas).

We are now planning on moving to the US in January because I have a job offer but it seems to me that I need my wife to sponsor me getting a green card. The problem with this is that she's been living in the UK for nearly 4 years and so there's no way she can sponsor me.

Is our only option to get somebody currently in the US (a friend/relative) to sponsor me so that I can apply for my green card?

    Hope that makes sense.

    Thanks,

    Mike
