  1. Good evening/morning all,

I am preparing for our cr1 interview next month, this is what we are planning to bring:

    NVC notification letter

    Applicant's passport

    2 passport photos

Original copy of AOS along with supporting documents (pay stubs, tax information, employment letter etc...)

    Original police certificates

    Original Marriage certificates

Medical records (we will schedule soon)

Copies of affidavit letters from friends and family (original was sent to uscis)

    Email communications with senator

Photos (Not sure how many, I was thinking about 15 - 20)

Communication records (emails, IMs, and skype records)

Recipts from fees paid (IV and AOS bills)

Are those enough? or just a good start?

Also, we use a mobile app called wechat for communication as well, but I can't download the message log, do anyone happens to know how to do that?

    Thank you for your input.

  2. Good evening all,

We finally received our interview date today. If we get approved, how long does it take for the consulate to mail her passport back to us? I hope I could bring her back to the country when I come back. Can anyone with previous experience help me out?

    Thank you

  3. Thank you all,

The best case is to make the update, and since the consulate in China is always jam packed, I seriously doubt the interviewer would give her that opportunity................

But usually, the DS-260 is locked after it was submitted. You'd have to call NVC and ask them to unlock it for you to edit it again. OP be warned that this would also change the receipt date to whenever you re-submit it. But yes, best case: you could just correct the mistakes at the interview if they let you OR your wife just filled out the DS-260 and saved it on the CEAC site without submitting it. Then you can still review and edit everything.

  4. Good afternoon all,

Got an RFE for AOS package, just wondering how long does it take for the good folks at NVC to look at it again? I waited 54 days before they look at it the first time, hopefully it won't take that long again.........

The reason they want a RFE for my AOS is I didn't get my latest salary info correctly on the form, its about $100 off from the tax return form.

    Thank you

  5. From their website (http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/submit/how-to-submit-documents-to-the-nvc.html) or from our wiki they didn't mention anything about barcode......... But I think you are right, best to wait until the status is paid before I sent out.

I believe that a barcode sheet is require and it is Available after the AOS fees is shown as PAID. Sending your package without barcode may cause delay, so my suggestion is to wait until it is shown as PAID and then send your AOS package. Good luck!

  6. Do DS-261 has to be submitted before AOS fee can be paid? I just got the email from NVC notify me AOS invoice has been generated, I tried to pay the fee, but there was an error message.

The error message says "This case is in the process of termination. Fee payments and online forms can no longer be accepted. If you believe you have received this message in error, or to resume processing of the case, please contact the NVC immediately."

My spouse haven't submit the DS-261 form yet, is this the reason, or is it something much more serious.

    Thank you

  7. Good afternoon/evening all,

I called NVC and was able to get my case number, the operator told me to wait another 10 to 20 business days so NVC can sent me an email regarding the next step.

My question is, I thought we are suppose to email to NVC ourselves to get electronic processing, and from what I read on this site, NVC suppose to sent us a snail mail regarding it. Is my assumption correct?

    Thank you

  8. Thank you for the quick response, glad to hear this...... My lawyer told me to do one myself, and have the paperwork ready for them during the interview, she said they do it for K1 in Guangzhou, but may not be for CR-1 or IR-1s.

The Consulate can run a background check through the FBI themselves, they don't need anything from the applicant in that regard.
