Congratulations. About your question, as far as I know, it depends on the field office. I think they will give him the I-551 stamp since he had to renew his driver's license but again it depends on the immigration officer in the field office. You did absolutely right by scheduling infopass. I am positive he will get the I-551 stamp, regards.

Thank you! I will provide an update after the infopass just in case anyone has to go through the same thing.

  2. Decided to log in to the USCIS account this morning to see if there  were any update and saw that they APPROVED our case yesterday!!! :D I signed up for email and text alerts but I didn't receive any.

Now my question is, does anyone know if they will do the i551 stamp in my husband's passport now that he has been approved? I recall reading somewhere that they won't do the stamp if  they see an approval in the system. Problem is that his driver's license expires on 3/24 (because DDS used the NOA date instead of the GC date for expiration). Infopass is scheduled for 3/26. I'm sure he won't receive the actual green card in hand for a few weeks, at least. Thoughts/advice anyone?

  3. My husband used his NOA last year to renew his license.  Problem is, DDS made the expiration date 1 year after the NOA date instead of 1 year after the green card expiration date.  Due to this, we are now in a situation where his license is about to expire when his 1 year gc extension hasn't even expired yet.  So DL expires 3/24.  We have infopass for 3/26.  GC extension expires 4/10.   I guess we'll just have to get the i551 stamp and then go renew the drivers license just to turn around and do it again when that stamp expires.  😩

I agree, this is very stressful. Finding Infopass appointments is yet another struggle. Everytime I check the site, I don't see any appointments. I know people say to look for at odd hours like  12am to 6am, I have'nt tried that yet. Hopefully we never have to. As a march filer,  you must be in line for approval anytime now, so hang in there.  God bless.

I was unable to get appointments when checking during the day time but I set my alarm for midnight on Monday and sure enough, I was able to get an appointment 2 weeks out.

The NOA extends GC expiration to 1 year. You can get an I55-1 stamp on your husband's passport by scheduling an infopass appointment. You have mentioned in your post that you have scheduled an infopass appointment. They will give your husband the 1-year extension stamp(I55-1) just a week or two before the expiration of his GC, not the NOA letter. Some office might give it a month before GC expiration. The I-551 stamp is a proof of residence and mostly given for 1 year.  This stamp could help him renew his driver's license or he can travel.

Okay, got it! I forgot that it was based on the green card extension expiration date and not the NOA. But in our case, it's not much of a difference because we did the paperwork at the last minute so there is only about a 2 week time span between NOA date and extension expiration date. However, now that I realize that it's the actual green card expiration, I'm hopeful that he'll receive the approval before then. But I just realized where my confusion came in; the driver's license services has his drivers license expiration date as the NOA date and not as the green card extension expiration date. SMH sigh!! Either way, I won't and can't stress about this. Hopefully everything will work out in time! Thanks for your response!

  6. So I managed to keep my nerves in check for a whole year while waiting for this process to play out but here we go again! Is anyone in the Atlanta area? My husband's NOA date is 3/24 and so his extension will expire then. We are concerned about his drivers license as they told us last year that they will not extend it again (I asked up front because I figured the green card wouldn't be approved within 1 year). Does anyone have experience with this? If so, how did you handle it? We have an infopass appointment for 3/26 but I really don't know if that's going to help.

Anything new by you? So far no check is cashed by me or NOA received..I really hope something happens today or tomorrow xD I'm not worrying, I just want something to happen! lol

Check was cashed yesterday. No NOA yet but I'm relieved knowing that the check was cashed as that's my confirmation that it was delivered lol now we'll just sit back and wait........and wait....and wait!!! I hope you hear something today.

    Good luck to you!

Lets hope, that is what it is. I mailed mine on the 20th should have arrived on Thursday. But nothing yet..Ah well all we can do is wait :P

The post office called me and again reassured that everything has been delivered. But the unfortunate part is that the packages will more than likely never be marked as delivered on the USPS tracking website so we'll just have to keep an eye on things and make sure that the check is cashed and NOA received.

  9. Another March filer here!

Mailed 3/19.  Should have delivered 3/24.   However, it's showing delayed in transit.   For those that show the same status, I spoke with the post office and they said that they had a computer crash but they said that everything has been delivered.  If the check isn't cashed by Tuesday or Wednesday, I'll probably do some more digging.  It would be just my luck that this happens! Lol

  10. I've been visiting this thread for quite some time and just wanted to chime in. NOA 1 was 5/14/14. We were apart of the NPIW crew as well (letter received in August 2014). At the beginning of March (I can't remember the exact date) I submitted a e-request. On 3/31/15, they mailed out a letter pretty much saying sorry for the inconvenience but keep waiting. On 4/10/15, I received the notification that the card had been ordered and the welcome notice was mailed.....FINALLY! 5 days passed our 1 year anniversary and 1 month shy of waiting for 1 year. Hang in there folks....approvals are coming...slowly but surely lol

    ILLINOIS
Naperville (abut 30 miles west of Chicago) - My appt was 8/13. Went on 8/30 at 2pm but was unsuccessful - only one technician on duty. I was in and out in about 25 minutes. I was told that I shouldn't really be doing this and not to do it again but at least they saw me. I didn't give any reason for wanting an earlier appt. The gentleman who we talked to gave us a lecture about going to the wrong place, that people would be waiting for us on the appointed day, that it wasn't fair to them, etc, etc. - but then said he would allow it this time but to do all other appointments on the scheduled date at the right office.

    MASSACHUSETTS
Boston - I took my wife for her scheduled biometrics appointment on 1/14/14. In an effort to get some info for this thread I asked the woman at the front desk if they allow early walk-ins, this was her reply: "It depends on what the reason is. If you legitimately need to come at an earlier date they will allow it, but if you just walk in for no apparent reason, they may not."
Boston - Tried to do early walk in for my appointment in Lawrence, told them I worked in Boston and would have to take time off to go to Lawrence. They asked me if I couldn't make it on the original date, I said I could, just didn't want to take time off from work. They told me I'd have to come back on the day of my appointment, but I could do it in Boston. Still waiting to go back. - Not successful.
Lawrence - did an early walk in 3 weeks before my appointment. Just asked politely if it was ok as I was in the area that day anyway. They couldn't have been nicer. Done and on my way home in less than 25mins! Was quite anxious beforehand as I'd heard bad things about Lawrence. But they were all friendly and really nice and accommodating.

  12. Yes Pinkrlion is right. My husband's visa was ready for pick up exactly one week to the day after being issued. His visa was issued on a Friday and ready for pick up in Montego Bay the following Friday. Also, don't panick (like I did) if your waybill doesn't show up right away after the visa leaves the embassy. My husband's visa was picked up on a Tuesday and we didn't receive the Waybill number until Thursday.

    Good luck and Congrats!

Okay thanks! I'll just wait until it shows "ready for pick up" to book his ticket. Thanks for your help :-)

  13. So excited.....2 weeks and 1 day after the interview and CEAC says the Visa has been issued. It went into AP for the first time yesterday. So now what? Will I be notified by DHL when it's ready to be picked up or is that yet another website that I have to stalk everyday?! And typically how many days from issuance is it ready for pick up? Would like to start looking at flights.

On another note, I just want to thank VJ and all of it's members for all the information that is provided about this process. I haven't been very active as far as posting but I've stalked this site (lol) for an entire year....probably longer. You guys rock! And special thanks to Jewella! rose.gif

  14. The number of shots needed at the medical will depend on the medical history and vaccination record. You beneficiary may want to get a copy of their vaccination records and bring them to the interview. Often times most applicants will require 2-3 shots at the time of the medical exam. Costs will vary.

Here's a link to cost at Kingston in 2012. It breaks out the fee compenents. You can research visa journey for updated fees.

    http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/369168-my-medical-exam-at-andrews-memorial-hospital-kingston-jamaica/

My fiance had his medical at Mo'Bay Hope. It was about $25-30,000 JA (if memory serves me correctly).

Any suggestions on where/how to get the shot record other than going to the clinic he went to as a child?
