My experience has been that the K1 visa is the fastest and less complicated(??). Many people have reported to me the the marriage visa can be much longer and can present some unique challenges of documents expiring or not satisfying requirements. The K1 visa was great for us and we beat the average timeline by about 2 months.

I hope that this helps! Please do not worry, every consulate is different, but we just kept getting emails and letters stating the exact same information (not sure if these are packet 3 or 4). As long as you have your inteview date, you are ok from my experience. You will receive a email / letter from the consulate about a week before your interview asking you to place the information / evidence in a specific order (contradicts all other instructions), but this will be the preferred order of evidence and review and will delay your interview by about an hour if you do not comply.
Try to remain calm you are almost there!!!!!!
Sincerely,

I received our NOA2 on September 11, 2013. I spoke the the NVC today and they received our case on October 17, 2013 and they provided me with the case number. I was surprised at the of time it took to get to the NVC. They indicated to me to check back in one week to see if they had processed the case to my Fiance's Consulate.
I hope that you get some news soon!
Good luck,
Chris

Hello everyone,
I hope things are going well for all of you! I am so excited, but confused?
I sent our application on August 7th. I received the NOA1 email/text in one week, the NOA1 hardcopy in two weeks. I received the NOA2 approval email/text on September 5th and the NOA2 approval hardcopy on September 9th.
I am stunned and amazed. I had to read the text/email 50 times to believe it. I have read the hardcopy 50 times to believe it!!!! I can only hope that all of you will be as fortunate as we have been. I'll keep you posted Chris

I think you can do it yourself! I just filed today and found the VJ AOS guide as helpful as the K-1 guide. Most of the information that they are looking for can come from your original filing. In my case, I saved all forms from the original submission and simply made updates to the dates and information or used the information to create the new forms. The AOS submission was much simpler than the K-1 submission.
Good luck!!!!
