Thanks silkafi88.
I have another question that I forgot to mention. It's about the signature on the naturalization certificate. At the ceremony, they didn't tell us how to sign it. The signature next to my picture has my first name, middle initial, and last name. Can someone tell me if I should I sign the certificate the same way as the picture?
Or should I sign it with first name, middle name, and last name?

So yes, I had my oath ceremony today, and I'm so glad that the naturalization process is now over and that I'm now a citizen of the USA. The whole process only took 3 months for me. However, what I'd like to know is, how many days after the oath ceremony should you get your driver's license updated? On the USCIS website it says "Please wait at least ten days after your ceremony before going to the SSA to ensure that data reflecting your naturalization has been updated." Should the 10-day wait apply to the other documents also (driver's license, passport, and voter's registration)?

I suppose its recommended to bring extra photos in case the ones you sent with the N-400 have been damaged. I just recently had my interview but I was not asked for extra photos.

Have you checked your case status on the USCIS website? You might want to check that to see what it says.
I received my interview letter exactly 2 weeks after biometrics.

To make a long story short:
I arrived at the location approximately 40 minutes before my scheduled appointment time. I parked and stayed in my car for about 15 or 20 minutes so that I could go over the civics test flash cards. I then went inside the building. I sat in the waiting area for several minutes. It wasn't long before my name was called. The interview was brief. I didn't look at the clock before or after the interview, but I estimate that the interview took less than 10 minutes. The officer first went over the N-400 and then conducted the civics test.
My 6 questions were:
Who wrote the declaration of independence?
What is the political party of the president now?
Name a state that borders Mexico.
Who is the commander in chief of the military?
Name 3 of the original 13 colonies.
What are the two major political parties in the US?
That was followed by the English writing/reading test. The officer then gave me my results sheet which showed that I had passed the tests and that I had been recommended for final approval. I then went back to the waiting area and waited about half an hour. I was then given the oath appointment letter. The oath ceremony takes place next week. So, although there's still one more step left in this whole process, I'm glad that the hard part is over. -
On the interview letter it says that it's recommended that you bring 2 extra passport pictures. Was anybody here asked for the extra pictures during their interview?

I've heard people say that it's not necessary to have a job to become a citizen. However, what happens if you've been unemployed long-term and you are not collecting unemployment compensation? Would the interviewer ask you how you supported your self?
In my case, I've been unemployed for over a year, and I don't go attend a school. My parents have helped me out. I requested a document from the IRS showing that I was not required to file taxes because I had no income. Can I just present that document to the interviewer?

I'm just curious as to what happens if you get a name change during your naturalization. I'm not talking about a change due to marriage. I'm talking about getting either a different first name or last name or both.
If you apply for a new job after naturalization, how does the reference check happen if you used to have a different name before your naturalization? Are you supposed to tell the person who interviews you for the job that you used to have a different name???

On the USCIS website it lists my local office as having same-day ceremonies "rarely, on a case-by-case basis, depending upon the special situation." What would constitute a special situation? Might it only be for military members or something of that nature?

If a question has more than one option but the question doesn't say to "name one", are you supposed name all of the options?
For example here's a picture of one of the questions. As you can see, the question has three options. If you get asked this question during the interview, are you supposed to mention all three options or just one?

I wanna keep my orlando name
but I want an american last name, and have no idea what to choose
been thinking about
orlando morgan
orlando williams
orlando johnson
orlando scofield
orlando robinson
orlando miller
orlando mitchell
orlando parker
orlando evans
orlando stewart
Are you sure you don't simply have an inferiority complex about being Hispanic? Cause it sure sounds like it. I just hope you don't have a stereotypically Hispanic look, because it would be silly for you to have an all American name to go along with it.

Is it ok for a man to wear shorts?
All they're gonna do is take your fingerprints and they will possibly take passport photos of you, no?

Thank you for the information. I seriously wish that the move won't happen, as it may complicate my naturalization case. But, I'm afraid that the move is inevitable.

I have my biometrics appointment scheduled for next month, but I may possibly have to move to a different address later that month or perhaps not until September. I don't know specifically when the move would take place. The new address would still be in the same city. How soon after the biometrics appointment can I expect to receive the interview letter?
Would a move delay the process for receiving the interview letter?
And how do you contact USCIS to let them know that you just moved to a new address?

Well I'm glad to say that I received my NOA today! The notice date on the form is July 3rd, but strangely the envelope was postmarked July 8th. I wonder why it took so long, but at least I'm glad to have received it.
-
Well, a week has already passed since the date that my N-400 was delivered, and still no NOA. I wonder how long it will take to receive it. I suppose it will take yet another week or even longer. This system is so inefficient!!! You would think that with today's technology, they would just have you list your e-mail address on the N-400 so that they can send you an e-mail notifying you that your N-400 was received. Or at least have an automated message sent to your phone number letting you know that your N-400 was received. But to leave it to snail mail is just silly. What if your NOA gets lost in the mail? You can't really rely on the post office. I have sometimes received letters in my mailbox that belonged to other people in my neighborhood. I fear that something like that could happen with my NOA -- that it could end up in someone else's mailbox and they'll simply throw it in the trash.

I attended a citizenship workshop where they have people assist you in filling out your N-400, and there I was told that you don't have list any traffic tickets on the form, unless you were arrested.
-
Wow you got your NOA quick. I think that the notification system for the naturalization process is not efficient at all. On the N-400, there's a line where you can put your e-mail address. I was under the impression that if you put your e-mail address on that line, the USCIS would notify you by e-mail to let you know that they received your N-400. But I just found out yesterday that you actually have to mail a separate form along with the N-400 if you want to be notified by e-mail. I got my N-400 filled out at a citizenship workshop but they didn't tell us anything there about sending an additional form along with the N-400 if you want to be notified by e-mail.
-
I've read that people who've sent a personal check got their NOA fairly quickly. But what about people who've sent a money order? How long does it typically take to get the NOA?
The postal tracking info shows that my N-400 was delivered on Sunday 6/30/13 (nearly a week ago).

When you get passport pictures taken at CVS, they give them to you inside a small envelope/booklet that closes with a small flap. When you're about to mail the N-400, can you leave the pictures in that small envelope/booklet and attach it to the N-400?
-
Say your name is Juan Lopez. Can you change it to John Smith at the interview?
Even if you had previously chosen the option for "no" on the N-400 application?

Those were the same questions that I had.
Congratulations to you both.
