Thank you for your advice. In case anybody cares, I decided to give an update on how it all went down.

I still showed up for my originally scheduled appointment by myself, just to be safe, showing them the letter to get in the door. After reaching the waiting area, I explained my situation to the person there and she confirmed that my interview was indeed cancelled and wished me luck.

On the day of the rescheduled interview, we found free parking on the next block and arrived at the building in Newark around 7:00am for our 7:30 appointment. We waited in the security line and then proceeded to the 14th floor where we gave them the appointment notice and sat down. Around 8:00, the officer popped out from a door and called my wife's name. We followed her into her office.

She asked us to stand for a moment, raise our hands and pledge to tell the truth. We then sat down and she asked for our passports and my birth certificate and any lease or documents with both our names on them. We pulled them out of our binder and she cursorily looked them over.

"So, why don't you tell me how you met this lovely young lady?" she began, and I explained how we got to know each other. She then said to my wife, "He seems pretty shy, how did he go about approaching you?" which was a spot-on observation, and she explained how it all began. A few more questions were asked, such as who proposed and how we decided to get married. Next, she opened a file folder and pulled out the photos of us together that we submitted with our application and asked us to tell where each was taken, and we did. "Seems like you guys like traveling. Where else have you traveled together?" We pulled out our stack of 100+ photos and explained a little about each one that showed a different location.

That seemed to be all she needed. "Congratulations," she said. "Your application will be approved today, and you will receive a temporary green card in the mail in about three weeks." She then explained about how the card is temporary for two years and then we need to file to remove conditions. We thanked her and left. The whole interview must have taken about 10 minutes.

I applied for a green card for my wife and while the application was pending, we moved from New York City to Jersey City, NJ, a distance of just a few miles. After we moved, we submitted the AR-11 form within 10 days as required, notifying USCIS of our new address. A few days later, we got a letter confirming receipt of the AR-11 and another letter stating that our interview has been cancelled. A few days after that, we got another letter saying that our interview has been rescheduled, this time in Newark, NJ instead of New York, NY.

After browsing this forum quite a bit, I've seen many people asking about their interview being cancelled and the advice given is generally to show up to the originally scheduled interview anyway, since some people's applications have been denied for failing to show up to the cancelled interview. Does this advice still hold if the interview has been rescheduled at a different location? Does anyone have any recent experience with this situation? Most of the forum posts are from several years ago.

Also, is there any unofficial list of what to bring to the interview other than the list they send you with the notice to appear?
