  1. Hi all!

I just wanted to say that we recently took a road trip from california to texas and experienced an immigration check point near the El Paso Mexican border. We gave the border control lady our 797C for that showed we were in the process of AOS and she let us pass no problem.

What a relief :) Just starting this process has made my life so much less stressful. It's nice to know we are in status without even an approval yet. I cannot wait for my husband to get his EAD! Security feels so nice, Id hate to lose him.

    Take care everyone!!!!

  2. So in Russia there are international passports and domestic passports? Or how is this working? In terms of your question, it would be probably a month from now you may have your interview. In our case we sent our AOS package in on the 10 of September and we got the biometrics appointment on the 27th of September, and then we got the interview appointment letter on the 3rd of October for 3rd of November, and then was approved on the spot, and from the 3rd of November of the interview date sharp 7 days later, November 10th the GC was waiting in the mailbox. I hope this helps...if you are going the same speed as us, that's how you'll get your ####### too. Good luck!

Yea, so apparently he has a (current) domestic passport that he can travel within Russia with he then got an international one when he got his visa (which is lost in the abyss). He also used his Russian driver's license at biometrics and it worked out fine. Mind you, neither document was in English. I couldnt seem to find a straight answer before on whether or not theyd except this so we took a change and it worked!

Wow you really went through everything super fast. I assumed that we would get his work permit in a month and then in 3 months get the interview. I hope we get the same experience as you! :)

    Thanks for your help!

  3. Hi all!

I just wanted to inform everyone that my walk in biometrics appointment today was successful! My husband said the manager (who was Vietnamese) was extremely accommodating and even opened a fingerprinting station and allowed him to go ahead of 4 other people! My husband is Russian, so I don't think their was any type of ethnic favoritism, just a really nice guy :) Today is July 12th, and our appointment wasn't supposed to be until July 23rd. So thankful this has worked out now we can go on vacation stress free! :) We were in and out in 20 minutes :)

My husband used his Russian domestic passport (in Russian language) along with his Russian drivers license as a form of ID and it worked just fine.

I hope this helps some people out!

Thank you for everyone's support and information!!!!

  4. I've read that this process takes some patience and time but I've got to admit this is going at lightening speed! Seems like I'm always getting some update in the mail. Our package was received on June 25th and have biometrics on the 23rd!

Does anyone know how long it will take for the results to get back to USCIS and how long our interview will take to be booked from there?

My husband has no criminal history.

Oh, and he will also be using his current domestic russian passport. This wont be a problem right?

  5. Hello all, I just submitted my AOS package on 6-22-2013 and got a NOA1 yesterday, 6/28/2013. Anyone else close to this time frame?

Also, my husband only has his domestic foreign passport that is in Russian language for a form of valid ID. Does anyone know if this will be an acceptable ID for his biometrics appointment? He lost his international passport and J-1 visa a while back and he cannot get it replaced because his visa is out of status.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  6. Hello! I am currently filling out the AOS application for myself and my husband. He arrived here as a student on a J-1 Visa and overstayed. My husband seemed to have lost his Expired J-1 visa and his passport. He does have his I-94 and DS - 2019 which showed he arrived on a valid visa. My question is, will USCIS accept this as enough documentation to be eligible?

    Any help would be appreciated!
