  1. Unfortunately, USCIS is a big black hole. You really don't get much information from them especially if it's outside of the processing dates (like 60 days in this case) they list. Most RFE reply receipts by USCIS do not show any status changes and it's the norm rather than the exception. If you have proof they received it and it's been signed for, rest assured they are working on it and you will see a status change sometime soon.

Regarding the i-551 Stamp, I believe you can go there anytime in the same month as your extension is about to expire. You have about 4 months before it expires and most likely your case will be adjudicated before that date.

Thank you so much for that info, I really appreciate it!

  2. Hi guys. So long story short, we received a Request for Evidence letter for our I-751 petition. A month later (took a while to gather everything) we sent it (overnight delivery) through UPS to the Vermont Service Center. It was delivered on June 6th, 2016. Welp, so far we have received zero notice that our RFE was received by the service center, and our online case status hasn't been updated since we FIRST sent our petition in July 2015. We tried calling USCIS, but they won't even help us until it has been at least 60 days. How are we supposed to even know that they have the package?

My question is, how long did it take before you heard ANYTHING about your RFE? All we have to go on is that the package was delivered and signed for.

Thank you so much in advance, we are very nervous that it is lost! :(

Also, my husband's extension letter expires October 22nd. When can we schedule an InfoPass appointment to get an I-551 stamp in his passport?

Thank you so much in advance, we are very nervous that it is lost! :(

  5. If they say you're missing the whole package then it is likely a false checklist meaning they have reviewed your AOS package! biggrin.png

Just to be sure, the letter looks like this:

    First Page:

    Dear JESSICA:

We have reviewed the documents which you submitted in support of an application for an immigrant
visa. Please review the information listed under each applicant's name and provide any documents
which are indicated as missing or need additional information. You must submit the required
information. Failure to provide the requested information will delay your immigrant visa interview.
Please read the enclosed information to determine where to send all required copies of missing
documents. If you have any questions regarding this letter, please call the National Visa Center at (603)
334-0700 between the hours of 7:30am and midnight ET.
Please include a copy of this letter with your correspondence and write your case number clearly (exactly
as it appears below) on the upper right-hand corner of all documents.
From the date you mail or transmit the requested information, please allow 20 business days for NVC to
review this documentation/your mail. When we complete our review, the NVC will notify
you/petitioner/beneficiary/attorney with information regarding the next processing step.
    The "checklist" page:

    ______CORRESPONDENCE INSTRUCTIONS:_________________________________
When responding to the National Visa Center, please include the bar code sheet that came with this
letter. Failure to include the bar code sheet may cause a delay in the processing of your case. The bar
code sheet should be placed on top of all documents being submitted for this case and mailed to the
    address provided.
    ______1 - IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION PART 1:_______________________
The National Visa Center is waiting for an Immigrant Visa Application to be submitted for this case.
The Principal Applicant and any other Applicants who will be accompanying him or her to the United
States must now download and complete an Immigrant Visa Application; please visit the following
    website for instructions:
http://immigrantvisas.state.gov (click on the link for "submit Visa application and civil documents")
Please submit the Immigrant Visa Application form(s) and required supporting documents for each
Applicant in one package to the National Visa Center; sending this information separately will delay
    your visa.

Are you sure this isn't anything to be concerned about? Should I call the NVC to make sure they have the package?
  6. Hi everyone! PLEASE HELP!

Today I received an email from the NVC with a "missing document checklist". So far, we have payed all fees and submitted BOTH the Affidavit of Support and Immigrant Visa Application (DS-230) with all civil documents. We submitted the DS-230 package one week later than the AOS.

It says in the email that we are missing the Immigrant Visa Application, even though we mailed it (with a delivery confirmation that it was received). We are panicking, because it took a very long time to obtain the civil documents!

Could it be that the AOS was just processed (it's been about 20 business days) and they automatically send this email to request the next set of documents? We know for a fact that the NVC has our Immigrant Visa Application (because of the delivery confirmation), so why are they saying that it is missing?

    PLEASE HELP!

    -Jess

  7. Hey everyone! I'm entirely new to this site, but I have a pretty important question.

I have paid my Affidavit of Support fee, and have all AOS forms ready to go with the cover sheet. Out of curiosity, I called the NVC to ask if I could mail my DS-230 forms with it as well. I got a very confusing answer. She told me I could put the AOS in one envelope (with cover sheet) and the DS-230 (with the same cover sheet as AOS) in a separate envelope, and mail both in ONE envelope... even though I haven't received a bill for the IV fee yet.

Has anyone mailed both forms together with success? Even before you receive/pay the IV fee? I would like to speed up this process as much as possible.

    Thanks in advance!
